The mall in the Filipino is on another level. I have never seen a mall look like Italy. I got to admit I was truly impressed with the architecture.

Vigan is not vegan. Vigan is a place in the Ilocos province in the Philippines where the empanada is a specialty. Mexican food and produce came to the Philippines by way of the Manila Acapulco galleon trade that run twice a year for 250 years without fail from 1565-1815 between Manila in the Philippines and Acapulco in Mexico.

Glad you loved Venice Mall... Banana leaf is not meant to be eaten. In the olden days, that's what our forefathers used as plates, esp. in the province (or rural areas). But even now, we still use it at times esp. for our "Kakanin" (native snacks made from glutinous rice, coconut milk, etc.) like that Puto Bumbong you had. :)

Yeah, it's actually being plagiarized by it's neighboring countries, most of their cuisines is not originally like that and just recently developments made them looked and taste like that. Unlike, the Philippines many of it's food are originally developed here if not they gave credit where it's due, not it's neighboring countries whose on fast spree to copy other countries cuisines but naming it with their own language, and just credit-grabbed it all along.

The leaf is just a substitute for a plate. They are trying to be organic and not use plastic plates. It's more eco-friendly. Ube is yam and that is natural. Indeed, you need to put the sugar on top along with the grated coconut to make it a complete snack. Cheers!

Its just banana leaf and not a part of the food like an under liner.... That PUTOBONGBONG you ate you just need to put all the stuff on top of it and consume...there should be butter or margarine too, I'm surprised its not part of the package... I felt sorry for you not being able to buy the barbecue chicken that you want, by the looks of it its a THIGH part and dark meet consumes a lot of time and perhaps the lady is correct with the 20 mins cooking time... the other chicken part you were pointing? its called " ISAW " or chicken intestine.... its really good you could have tried it, really delicious too bad the lady didn't explained it well enough to you.... but any ways good luck next time if you see one again.... You should try " BALUT " thats a BLAST!!!! You're not a bona fide tourist if hadn't tried one..... Good luck with ur travels here, enjoy and be safe.
