We wander around Barangay Cembo after a failed attempt to pick up our hat that needed repairs from Tatay Ricky the Tailor.
We get a Milk Tea from a local vendor and chat with Lola Carmencita who sells Pancit and Champorado in front of her house (although she made it very clear it's only in the mornings lol.) Enjoy!

Hi Kurt! You can use "Sa'yo na lang ang sukli" as a more local translation of "Keep the change" instead of saying "Sa'yo na lang ang barya" because we will think that you just only want us to keep the coins and not the whole change.

13:50 “Gulong” = wheel usually “tires” for cars. You’ll find “vulcanizing” shops in the PH where repairing a tire is more cost effective. If you think about it, it’s better for our land. Fixing something, prolonging its life is a way of life in the PH. Anything, ma-re-re-medyo (there’s a remedy for anything, anything can be fixed instead of being discarded)

Kurt, I'm from Arizona originally from Davao. I find your vlog entertaining, educational and hilarious and I love that you speak quite good in tagalog and even pretty good in Ilocano. You made me laugh so hard on a lot of your short videos. It's hysterical, I came across of your video today after a hard day at work. Keep up the good work. Thank you so much 🙏 🥰

WORD OF ADVICE: Foreigners who want to travel between END OF MARCH TO JUNE, bring lots and lots of SANDO SHIRTS.....OR RIBBED TANKS IN THE US as they call them and a lot of washcloths....tshirts are only encourages if you plan to commute to malls of cold areas. If you intend to walk through streets, then tank tops and washcloths are a must have. Also bring foldable umbrellas. And always stop by at sari sari stores to buy cold drinks or fruit stands that offer coconut drinks and cold watermelon slices. Even halo2x stands abound everywhere. That's how Filipinos survive in the heat.

"Mano" - Spanish for hand, getting the hand of elderly grandparents, parents upon seeing them from arrival to greet showing respect by taking their hand and bowing placing it on your forehead. On another note, "GULONG" means tire of a vehicle. In your other vlog, "BIMPO" is face towel.

Ibabahagi is quite deep locals are not quite accustomed to this word. You can simply say “i-sh-share” ko yung location (or tindahan) mo sa vlog ko. Alternatively you can also say i-pr-promote. Taglish appears not just within a sentence but also within a word. Try it, when you return try speaking this way. This is the normal way of speaking in the PH. Switching to an English noun is one way. This is within a sentence. Making a verb taglish by adding a few letters to the English verb works as well and commonly done. I know, different and a bit confusing 😅

As a tourist who visited BGC, I love BGC, but it is NOT Manila or the "real Philippines." IMO, if you want to experience Philippines, do what kuya Kurt is doing. Still, BGC is great TO ME because Filipinos are great. Kuya is right on during his interview with Calvin: you can find beautiful beaches all over the world like you would in the Philippines, but Filipinos can only be found in the Philippines -- you get what I mean with that last bit. Filipinos are all over the world, but the culture and the people are in the Philippines.
