Actually wala naman utensil nuong panahon ng barok o "stone age" ok lang naman nagkakamay at I'm sure may sabon at gripo na tubig ginagamit nila sa restaurant na yan at kung may magreklamo ng pananakit ng tyan sigurado sa sobrang kabusugan yun hehehe.

Wonder if the have toyo-kalamasi combo sauce there? Toyo(soy sauce) Kalamasi(small sour sitrus) plus some chilli spice like Sili Labuyo(small chilli pepper).

To each his/her own. Nothing wrong eating with your hands but not all Filipinos do it 'cause some of us was not brought up that way. I eat with my hands depending on the food I eat like crab, shrimp. And when it's raining I love to eat marinated milkfish with salty red egg and tomatoes. People from India eat with their hands too.

No need of any arguments why eating with bare hands because that's how we eat and even rich people does because of some dishes which is better eaten without using spoon and fork... the foods are mix together or not even the sauces, not a big deal BECAUSE THAT'S HOW THE EXCITEMENT WORKS AND PEOPLE ENJOYED IT AS WELL... Its a unique concept and bringing people together and enjoying their meal... New experience for non- Filipinos. :)

Wow, sana meron din dito sa amin sa Bay Area. Kamayan was about to open one with the same budol style (kamayan) over 10 years ago in Daly City, California, but hindi nila nadala ang mga cook nila and nagkaroon nang ibang problema pa yata. If anything kung style nang restaurant sa pilipinas like Kamayan sa Pilipinas where we ate by SM Makati (murang mura ang food nila) may mga sink sila sa loob nang restaurant that is not inside the toilet/washroom/restroom/comfort room and they have soap, water and paper towels to wash their hands with at kita nang lahat na naghuhugas ka nang kamay, at kung gusto mong maghugas nang kamay every minute puwede din dahil very convenient ang locations nang mga lababo. I think they give you hot towels to clean your hands, but can't remember for sure kasi it was 4 years ago na. Ang dami nang ganitong restaurants sa Pilipinas and we tried a few, pero tong Jeepney ok kasi Budol style talaga. Also kung hindi comfortable using your hands or you have no agility to use them without kubyertos I am sure that they can provide you with spoons, forks, knives and even platos and platito, yon nga lang katawa tawa kang tingnan kasi you're supposed to pay for that experience tapos pakiyeme kiyeme ka lang kasi wala kang practice sa haybol mo o kaya oa kang masyado, so mas ok practice eating with your hands first at home. There's also an Ethiopian Resstaurant in San Francisco where we ate a couple of times pero ang sink nila nasa restroom. Ang kamay ay hinuhugasan o nililinis with hot towels, mas masarap pa rin ang Pinoy food, kaya sana may pera ako to go to Jeepney in New York.

I don't see anything wrong with this concept that's coz I'm Filipino and to those pinoy saying this looks gross, shame on you! This is culturally accepted back home so going against it is like questioning why some people like to use chopsticks or why some sit on the floor while dining. Each concept is unique on its own and that's what well travelled and well rounded people look for!

Here in Europe i tried to eat in Blind Restaurant....you can't see your food, no lights....you must try to eat without seeing anybody, but you can hear them. INTERESTING EXPERIENCE!

I have travelled all of asia and europe, became an Australian by choice but no way I will scrutinize the things I grew up with. Yes budol eating is not that common everywhere but it is happening and accepted in the Philippines and as what 2010Maharlika says, its about promoting pinoy food and culture. Looks good. more like gimmick food but seems to work. I'll check it out. My only problem with this clip is the owner referring to her friends as "my American friends". You're an AMerican TOO if you were born in America. Stop hyphenating who you are by calling yourself a Fil-Am just because it sounds cool on ABS-CBN, it doesn't make you any less of a pinoy if do so. You think some Italin kid from brooklyn refers to their friends as American friends, NOPE, they call them just friends.

It's really not gimmick food because there are "kamayan" restaurants in the Philippines. It is a way of eating, dining in our Filipino culture as much as using spoon and fork as opposed to fork and knife like they do in the US and other Western cultures. Hand eating is not gimmicky by any means when it comes to Filipino food.
