I know of several people who fill their PCPs directly from the compressor. I think it is a mistake unless the compressor does not use water or oil.

Arron, You always offer sound advice and tips. I found operating the Yong Heng for PCP use is a live and learn process, and one gets better and more proficient at it over time and practice. Besides the oil and water separators you showed us, I'd like to mention an additional way to eliminate water and oil residue; it's by using the pressure relief knob/valve on the "left side" of the Yong Heng. For example, when I'm topping off my 6.8L bottle (usually during a 15 to 20 minute run) I'll give the pressure relief knob a "quick twist" every couple of minutes. Doing that releases (evacuates) a spritz of built up water and oil vapors. IMPORTANT NOTE: Do this "Quick twist" release only with the left side knob only as it will release the water and oil vapors. The right side knob should be keep closed until the end of the filling process, at which time you can open it up to release all the air pressure so as to disconnect the bottle from the compressor.

You are SO right Aron , I can tell you from experience that this WILL add water and as you said and small amounts of oil / contaminants to your AG if filled directly from a compressor. I have been filling two AGs straight from the compressor and am having periodic check valve problems with the AGs. And when I check the little catch filter fairly frequently I might add it is soaking wet and oily. This is a very relevant and necessary video you have made here to the AG world. Thanks again Aron

Aaron I believe you're right there are some benefits from using the machine instead of a bottle for one I notice how quick my gun feels up my air gun . even Run 3 and 1/2 minutes and it's done so that should keep the life of the compressor longer because it doesn't have to work hard or get very hot in order to fill my gun .
@aaroncantrell88193 жыл бұрын
Keeping the compressor cool and the oil changed is the key to long service from the unit and it also help to keep your gun free of contaminants. Thanks for watching.
@rage8893 жыл бұрын
good timing on this. I wore out my hand pump in ~ 3 weeks and am considering the Yong Heng. I am a bit bummer about the need for the $100 filter assembly - makes finding a tank more tempting.
@aaroncantrell88193 жыл бұрын
If you are fill your gun directly and keeping the compressor as cool as possible (ice in the bucket and wet rags on the high pressure tubes) while changing the filter regularly it will not be too bad of your gun. Also you can monitor just how much oil is being produced by checking the filter carefully after each change. Thanks for watching.

I recently purchased a Yong Heng, a "gold" molecular sieve, and small bottle after watching your and Air Velocity Sport videos. I appreciate the clear guidance both of you have provided on setting up and using these systems. What molecular sieve material product are you using when it's time to replace the beads supplied with the filter? Best regards Aaron.
@aaroncantrell88193 жыл бұрын
I stopped using the activated charcoal after the first change. I now just use cotton and the beads in the filter. Some advice:' Replace the cotton in the little filter often/ That will help keep larger filter clean. Also when you depressurize the line after filling most of the water shoots out of the system. By detaching the line from the filter water is give an additional chance to evaporate out. Thanks for watching and best of luck.
@carl89583 жыл бұрын
@@aaroncantrell8819 I have purchased a 50 pack of the small cotton filters and understand they should be routinely replaced. I'm wondering if you have need to replace the beads in the larger filter yet and what produce you might have chosen? The usual forums have suggestions on various media - including mixing a "color changing" bead to detect water. It will be awhile before that media needs to be replaced. Just planning ahead.

What temp do you let your compressor get up to while filling a bottle? Thanks
@aaroncantrell88193 жыл бұрын
I have never had to turn it off because of high temp. I find that as long as the water is cool and that the pips have wet rags wrapped around then the temp never rises too far. Also I never fill the tank to over 3,700 psi and that keeps the temp down also. Best of luck.
@sonykim4833 жыл бұрын
To cool those lines down with out those towels and spraying water on them. Those towels do look like they get burnt. Use soft copper tubing, wrap the copper around the stainless steel tubes and hook them up in conjunction with your pump or add another pump system just for those two lines. I would use ice/water mixture to really cool the system down.
@aaroncantrell88193 жыл бұрын
Why go through all that only to find that both your copper tubing and my wet towels work equally as well in keeping the system cool. In that case the wet towels win because you will not have to be a rocket scientist to set it up. Just wrap the towels and wet them. Simple right. Thanks for watching and for your comment.

Mr. Cantrell, I'm finding that to buy a good PCP, not dirt cheap nor top end, and to get a tank, compressor, that is some high end dollars. The equipment is double plus the PCP.

You can start out with a hand pump very cheap. Here are my top picks for starter guns between $250 and $500: Artemis P15, Karl Puncher Breaker, Gamo Urban & Coyote, Gauntlet, Xisico Sentry, Benjamin Fortitude, Hatsan Flashpup, AT44 & BullBoss, and the Venturi Avenger.
