I don't know if you will read this. (three years later). I purchased a two-cylinder Tuxing compressor. It is a dream, Faster, quieter, And for the cost, an excellent buy. You'll never go back to a single cylinder I'd bet. I tore apart my little Tuxing single. And you were correct, regular compressor oil is not good enough for these. I have switched to Jenny Ultimate Blue.I accidentally over heated the compressor. When I tore it down it was surprisingly clean inside. The two stage/two cylinder stays cool much easier. I have no idea why, But I no longer need ice. I saw a lot of corrosion in the cooling system of my first compressor, so I added auto anti-freeze. Problem solved.

Thanks for the feedback. I may one day try a double cylinder compressor. Can you recommend a good one.

@@AirVelocitySport The TUXING seems to be working fine. I added a water separator to my single and doing that brought the cost to nearly even with the two cylinder. Which comes with a water separator. I opted to not have the auto shut off. I monitor my compressor while filling. I have read reviews where the auto shut-off did not shut the compressor down. That could be a costly mistake.

@steven schwichtenberg I'm in the market for a compressor by hill pump MK5 Broke down as I pumped up a 6.8 liter bottle from 0 psi to 4500 an kept using it pumping around 200-300 psi when it drops down id top it with the pump. An air venturi is behind on warranty I might dispute the purchase with the bank they cant just have me waiting months for warranty for this pump I NEED AIR I WANT TO SHOOT I PAID FULL PRICE, I can fix the pump my self but im not going with my money buying replacement parts just to fix my PUMP Nope I want a compressor now I will be running slugs an huffin an puffin on air pump is not the move, But once I get the dispute money which compressor do you recommend yong heng or the tuxing 2 cylinder you were talking about.

Some guy on the tuxing 2 cylinder compressor amazon reviews said this, "i have used one of these compressors before and found it to be good for the price, the problem starts when you have a warrant claim with it .The first time i used it after about 10 minutes i found it was not putting any air into the cylinder i was filling. Also the room that it was in was filling with smoke and oil was pumping out of the crankcase breather , Contacted Amazon to be told due to it being purchased from a third party seller i would have to claim direct from Tuxin. After a number of emails and phone calls , most of it time wasting wanting photos then videos. they then tell you that you need to strip it and buy the parts need yourself." With the 2 cyclinder u better hope there aint no problems with it you will have to take it apart an diagnose the issues an fix them with the spare parts thats not an appealing though for me at least, Makes me definitely want to settle for the walmart yong heng protection plan warrenty, an u best believe im runnin in there if the yong breaks if it does, Been doing research to give it the most longevity out of whatever compressor I get.

I got some good use of mine and it works brilliantly A few good pointers is to use distilled water with regular coolant fluid for aluminum motors Else the aluminum compressor head will be pitted pretty quickly inside, dissolve the aluminum Also let the compressor run freely for at least two whole minutes before starting to pressurize as the piston and cylinder actually needs to get up to working temperature to work best as possible and wear down as little as possible, just think of it like a regular aluminum combustion engine, it is just the same. The water separator you can get to be installed after the compressor, you can get one rather cheap online for just this model of compressor, it is actually just a cylinder that the compressed air gets through the top of and the water then flows down and slowly fills this cylinder the once in a while you just bleed out this cylinder/tank at the bottom and you can also do this with the big tanks if you have a manual valve, just hold the valve downwards and bleed out the water before usage That is pretty much it, use as good quality oil as possible and this will also help with the compression effectiveness of the compressor. I hope you then gets as happy as i do Sorry for my bad English, i don't know the proper English word for what the effect regular tap water has on aluminum as coolant, but grey white scales grows out from the dissolved aluminum and impact the lifespan and cooling performance of the compressor head greatly

I've been running my unit for 13 months now and not a single issue. I direct fill my gun only which takes right at 2 minutes every time. I would highly recommend putting the cotton filter closest to the end of your fill hose as a last safe catch and running a vertical water/oil trap mounted like they typically show on the Amazon add. You'll need to drill some holes but this setup pulls all the moisture out before the cotton filter. In one year's time, I haven't had to change that cotton filter so it's obviously working like this very well. I've been using the Royal Purple Synfilm Air Compressor Oil which from all my research seems to be one of the best there is for this application. I wouldn't recommend this unit for filling scuba tanks. That tiny little piston will have to work hard to generate all that "volume" of air. Pressure in small volumes like direct filling your gun is very gentle on the compressor and should last many, many years!

I went overboard after reading how terrible moisture is for your air gun and baught 2 filters on top of the one that came with my tuxing compressor and honestly iv never seen the moisture make it past the little stock filter, the other 2 are always completely dry. I guess California is pretty dry though.

I just made this purchase based on watching all your vids. W/confidence. W/ no auto shut off. Thank you very much. WalMart was out of stock w/ no dates of restock. Amazon vendors were running out too. Stating may never restock. I figure on account of the carona virus. They were disappearing as i contimplating. They were 16 left yesterday and only 9 left this morning from one vendor. I didnt purchase the warranty (ive 30 days to do so) because i figured, no compressors left, cant replace what aint there. If only 1 vendor has 9 left. He cant replace w/ thin air. Thank you again for all your hard work. You never answered whether or not your AVS .254 slugs are working for Sumatras tho. Mines a .251. Any reviews to be read? I read on airgun nation 1 bit where 1 guy said "he heard" they wouldnt chamber in a Sumatra. They sure work great in your rifles. Shooting shotguns shells at a 100yrd, cant beat that. Thanks again.

@AirVelocitySport 4 жыл бұрын
yes I agree with you that there is no need to buy the warranty as it is probably useless given that you might have to pay shipping and this little compressor is very heavy.yes the coronavirus is probably going to limit supply here in the US and around the world.as far as the samatra goes I would not try to use the 254 in a 251 barrel as this could be a problem. Also be careful on the oil you use in your Yong Heng compressor.I am no longer using hydraulic oil and instead using breathing air compressor oil which runs much cleaner and does not carbonize on the. I will put out a video very soon detailing the exact oil and the benefits.

@@AirVelocitySport Ok, thanks alot for replying about the slugs. HS 48g are working great but there QC kinda sucks. Out of a huge order many were deformed but AGD made it right, and a finger nail file. lol. But they are .253 and the good ones are accurate to 135yrd so far which is fine for my 10 acres. My pellet days are over Im sure the carona virus will pass. Just a matter of how bad and how long. This compressor seems popular so im sure theyll be a come back. Hopefully mine will last long enuff. China already shut down, so i couldnt buy the replacement package you showed. Im a retired automotive machinist, built many a motor so i figure i can maintain this thing reasonably well. Got my Sumatra at a estate sale for 150 bucks, 1 scratch, unknown history. But it shoots great. My 1st PCP. Again, thanks for all your hard work. Im a follower for sure. Learnt good, solid practical stuff from you. Keep up the excellent work. Youre very good at it.

@@AirVelocitySport I did order a pack of the replacement oil/water filters. They had good reviews. And a gallon of Triax ATROS Multi-VIS AW 46 Full Synthetic Hydraulic Oil, another guy recommended it after he tried the purple and said it was too thin. Lubrication is everything in any motor. So the right kind will deff add to longevity. And it can always be drained out. I run straight weights in my drag bike that not easily foundt any more and a diff one in my muscle car. From from what ive read synthetic is a top choice for these. Again thanks. Ill be looking out for your updates. Yove already saved me $. Kinda feel guilty like i owe your something. Thanks for all the information on this compressor which I bought a year or so ago after watching your review. I would add that while aluminum doesn't rust, it does oxidize just like iron and every other metal, especially in contact with a dissimilar metal in the presence of water (an electrolyte), which is why we have dielectric unions and sacrificial anodes, it's called galvanic corrosion. Aluminum does tend to self seal by forming an oxidized surface layer, but that is tenuous at best, especially in contact with dissimilar metals and water.

Thanks for the useful info........ I just bought one of these to use with my Avenger. Safety is something that needs to be emphasized above all else. I work with high pressure gasses all the time, and have for over 50 years. Any rupture or failure can be incredibly violent. I've seen the aftermath of several accidents but never had one myself. In one case many years ago I was swapping out nitrogen bottles that were ganged together to supply nitrogen for a nitrogen burst in a chemical process. These bottles were big... nearly as tall as I was. The rule I followed religiously was to NEVER move a full bottle without the cap, and do not remove the cap until the bottle is secured........The guy on the other shift was not so "religious", and had one tip over with the cap off and break the stem off below the valve. The bottle went through 2 cinder block walls, wrecked about 4 vehicles and ended up 3 blocks away. The trail of destruction was something to behold!! In another case a man delivering gas to a big shop bounced a full large oxygen bottle (cap on) down about a foot from a power lift gate to the concrete floor. The bottle landed right side up as he intended, but the shock caused a fracture, and the bottle literally exploded........ I saw some of the damage later, and was told that there was virtually nothing left of the man, and several others were injured by fragments. The energy stored in a bottle of high pressure industrial gas, air, etc is immense. Even ordinary shop air compressor tanks cause tremendous damage if they fail, and they typically only have from 120 - 180 psi......A tiny fraction of 4500!!

Great video. I have the same problem with my well water. I do maintenance every month to take top head off inspect for lime scale deposit and clean it out then apply silicone to all seals. I change the oil also. Then just go over entire parts that may have dirt or oil in the fittings. I love this compressor its been great and well worth the money. If you check out the high end compressors that go for $1,000 they have this motor and head in them. Take off fittings first before removing socket cap screws. The rust is from condensation that's why i say do maintenance every month.

A few extra tips while filling your tanks...I add ice to my cooling tank as well as my soak tank. As we all know as you compress a gas it heats up and expands, this expansion takes up volume, the quicker you can cool the gas the more volume you can recover inside the tank. This will give you a better top off or fill if your going from 0 psi. I use 1 gallon milk jugs that I fill with water and freeze. I then add 2 jugs to my soak tank and let that sit for about 30-45 minutes. That gets the water inside the tub cold enough to absorb the heat from the air tank without warming to rapidly. For my compressor cooling, I use 2" PVC pipe 4-6" long, capped and filled with water, be sure to leave enough room for expansion. I freeze the tubes and add this to my cooling tank as fill. The colder water moving through the heads will prolong the life of the O-rings. Also be sure to run the cooling pump for about 20 minutes after the compressor is shut off.

Great video, thanks! I removed the gauge from my CGA347 fill station kit and installed a 6000 psi Tee, re-installed the gauge to the Tee and installed a 6000 psi male foster check valve to the remaining port of the Tee. Now I can fill my guns as normal AND when I need to refill the tank I can put a test plug in the fill whip and put the compressor fill whip on the male foster check valve. Now I don't ever need to remove the fill station from the tank. Hope that makes sense and helps others.

I run two filters one on the outlet from the pump stand straight up the second one is on the fill line. I try to fill the tank on dry air days here in the northeast we get wicked humid days in the summer. I like to drain the scuba filter every time. As for aluminum, it corrodes use distilled water. I use 3 gallons. My pump has been beaten on trust me I have 10 PCP's and a 7l tank. Still runs great change the oil EVERY season. My auto shut off works fine. It's off but it works. I run synthetic hydraulic oil! That what DAVV recommends they build GREAT scuba compressors. I am buying one of their new dual-piston compressors next. (700.00)

Re the cooling fluid. I bought a 5 gallon tank of distilled water, loaded that with antifreeze/coolant as you would your car. Got a larger aquarium pump and better quality pipe, cut a flap in the top of the container to get it in with cut outs for the pipes. Silicon seal them and the flap to keep any dirt out. This now lives Under the bench and works a treat. No corrosion, no scaling.

Great video as allways. I have just one little addition about the oil to be used. Using the recommended AW 46 hydraulic oil is perfectly fine and seems to be working out great for most people when only filling your gun for half a minute to a minute but even then and definatly when filling a larger tank I strongly recommend a purpose made synthetic HPA compressor oil that can cope with the 200 degree Celcius (400 Freedomheit) that the airtemperature can reach in te second stage without carbonizing and causing a carbon buildup that will cause failure in tha second stage in time. The rest of the compressor will run just fine with just about any non-detergent oil. Have done some garage testing with the AVS slugs in my Altaros regulated Hatsan Nova delivering just under 40 ft lbs and it looks very promising even at that low power. Got pretty much the same power from all four weights at speeds from about 885fps for the 22 grain slugs down to about 825fps and a hair more power from the 26 grain slugs, the next step would be long range shooting outdoors but winter has come so I'll save it for spring time. I wish a merry x-mas and a happy new year to you and yours.

I was out yesterday testing my slugs in the taipan mutant. It was so cold that the 26 grain were only moving at 757 fps. But still did 1.7" 10 shot group at 100 yards. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you and yours! Stay warm. It was 22 degrees Fahrenheit at the range yesterday. I could not feel my fingers.

@@AirVelocitySport It was more a question of what I could get hold of for a resonable price :-) You could get a gallon of Royal purple SYNFILM® Recip. 100 for around 75 bucks, lots of people using that with good result, I couldn't but I got lucky and found Mobil rarus 827 rebranded to www.ryeoil.co.uk/shop/compressor-oil-100-fully-synthetic/ for a fraction of what Mobile charges and got me a little over 6 gallons for about the same price. :-) It is an insane amount of oil for the YH but I have other compressors and since the price was right I figured it would be nice to have a good supply in stock. :-) I did have a look at the second stage piston after a few hours of operation and there where a little soot on it but it wiped of easily using a rag. I guess the amount of oil that passes the first stage piston and rings will be less as the rings are seated and worn in.

Thanks for your videos. I lot of good advice. I use Royal Purple oil and change it frequently. I got tired of carrying buckets of water so I used a dual fan 12 tube CPU radiator, a low voltage pump and power supply from Amazon. I use a universal coolant recover bottle from an automotive store for a reservoir. It works. I’ll use antifreeze with a coolant additive to protect the cooling system. I have a picture.

I've been thinking about getting into PCP because cocking a break barrel rifle is really hard for this old man and co2 slows down as you use it so I thought PCP is the answer but I'm almost convinced that it may be to much for my simplistic non mechanical lack of talent. I know the hand pump is an option but I see it as a terrible option. I have muscular dystrophy and if the break barrel is tiresome just image the hand pump. If I didn't live in east Tennessee I'd buy a scuba tank and pay someone to fill the tank but that isn't an option. Airguns is just a hobby, I've got a simple range set up at 20 - 25 yards and enjoy terrorizing cans and plastic bottles as the wife puts it! I love informative videos like this one because he tells you the Good, the Bad and the Ugly which is a big help to me. :-(

On air conditioning pumps they put filter-dryers on the suction side of the pump instead of the output side. Maybe it would be a good idea to use a filter on the input suction side and on the output high pressure side. That might help to keep some dirt out of the compressor and help the piston rings to last longer.

That is the correct way to do the job. it is easier to clean up the air at atmospheric pressure than putting expensive high pressure filters at the other end. The small filter that comes with small compressors will last a lot longer if the air passing through is cleaned up before hand.

Have to say, I added an auto shut-off relay. Wired it myself and there is not better way. Start the pump and wait for it to shut off. Another modification was to hook my shop air compressor to the HPA pump using a low pressure regulator and water separator. Almost cut my fill time by half, and removed most of the water. I still use the inline filter.

Great video dude! Next week will mark the 1-year-anniversary of My Yong Heng compressor.. It's working just as nicely now as it did the first time I fired it up and put it to torture, I mean use.. Last year, when I got mine, I also got a new 9L / 95CF carbon fiber tank, so I had to fill from 0-to-300 bar. Since then, I've also had to do a 0-to-200ish bar fill on a larger aluminium scba tank. Flawless both times. To limit any moisture, overheating, excessive wear issues, I limited the run-times to 10-15 minutes.. Royal Purple hydraulic oil is used, and I throw a 2ltr bottle of frozen water in w/ the 5gal bucket of water for cooling.. Aside from that, all OEM accessories were used. [I still haven't hooked up my custom dryer/separator setup yet] Those two tanks and occasions were the only times when I had to do such large capacity fills.. Normally, they just get topped off to their max pressures, and, I'll periodically use the YH to direct fill rifles.. I have the auto-cutoff-version, and though I've tested it a few times, I don't rely on that function.. I purge air manually and I start / stop the compressor manually - Better to be safe than sorry. **Hard stops aka Turning off the comp w/ the on/off switch WithOut purging the air.. [I've also never done that] There were a few reports of 'broken YH comps', and further inspections showed that for some reason, the build up of high pressure in the top / high pressure head would slam down when the motor stopped, and the force would push the hp piston down onto the top of the low pressure piston hard enough that it would dent and/or break through the low pressure piston.. So most people recommended purging before shutdowns just in case. Since then though, they've re-engineered the components, so, that should be a thing of the past.. There were a few different revisions of the Authentic YH compressors, so as long as people are getting the real deal, they'll be good to go. 🙂👍 Sam -

I remember over on AGN, there were a few dedicated threads about it, and they've been added to, so I'll / we'll have to go through them sometime, and see if the upgrades in fact solved all of those issues. That'd be great.

@@DirtyDovi For sure will keep you and Steve in the loop of my experience with my Yonger.....I'm stoked to set it up sweet in my garage in its place by the rifle work bench. I'm creating my own air rifle haven!! I definately am going to focus on a carefully calculated setup with the bucket above the compressor (gravity experiment) with a lid on my bucket with holes drilled for lines and am going to also use distilled and or filtered water as to reduce the internal buildup of contaminates as Steve showed us. I do like the frozen 2 liter of water dropped into the bucket for cooling. I also saw Meathead Marksman use red food coloring so he could visually see the water movement through the lines.....Kinda cool idea. I will also purchase some sieve and an auxiliary filter (still not sure how much I wanna spend on that...$80-$100 seems like a rip off for an aluminum tube that was spun on a lathe, mass produced with some line and a fitting IMO...I will PROBABLY run the Royal Purple if it doesn't void my warranty. I'll have to read up on that. I will also mount my filters vertically for gravity reasons as well. I am also subscribing to the practice of not "hard-starting" the compressor when connected to the bottle or with the valve releases screwed in......Let it build for a few right? I don't see myself letting it run for any longer than 30 min. As the manufacturer mentions it can cause issues. Change the oil and confirm the surface temp with a hand-held laser unit for smooth running and all should be seamless......Right?!?! Ha!

I'm thinking of getting the Air Venturi avenger, mainly for plinking. I had a thought regarding the calcification and mineral deposits in your cooling line....would it be beneficial to use automotive coolant/radiator fluid in a bucket as cooling fluid? It should prevent the mineral deposits and the ethylene glycol will provide a degree of lubricity. Just a thought.

@@gkman815 I just had a Yong Heng ordered from Amazon for $359.00. I saw this video and cancelled my Amazon order. I went to Walmart's website and these compressors are not in stock. They sell another knock-off (yellow paint and gold anodized cylinder head) for $349.00. I am going back to Amazon and reordering. I placed that original order 24 hours ago and was still able to successfully cancel it. I have placed orders and tried to cancel the order less than 10 minutes after I placed it and was unable to cancel it. This little endeavor to go with a PCP has start to get a significant price creep. I have a few break barrel pellet guns. While at our local archery range, we started talking about survival tools. A range buddy of mine told me about PCP airguns. I came home from the range and started researching the subject; that was 5 days ago. I told my wife that this was a "need" and not a "want". She asked me how much money we were talking about. I told her $300.00 to $500.00. Now it is looking at about $1,100.00 to $1,300.00. Besides the $359.00 on the compressor, I am buying a , 357 Hatsan Hercules Bully and ammo; this air rifle at FieldSupply.com is costing me $689.00 plus the Marxists' California sales tax. My wife is very understanding and forgiving, but she is still leary of my purchases when I bought an airplane and flew home to our local airfield without discussing it with her first.

We have a few acres of land in the country and a few neighbors are cool, but there are too many city-folk moving into our area. I don't want to make too much noise when a pack of these varmints invades my property.
