As someone who is still on a journey of discovering and (somewhat) accepting their own anxiety, your comment about “moods fluctuating” cut veeeeeeeery close. And I for one will be EXTREMELY grateful for whenever you post a video talking about how you regulate those inconsistencies- especially around how, despite those emotional and mental inconsistencies you STILL manage to produce! I am definitely guilty of letting my productivity be dictated by my mood, so would just love to learn more about what artists do! Thank you for all you do, all you create, and all you share! Some of us may never express enough how much we genuinely appreciate you for it all!

I’ve had severe anxiety and depression for the majority of my life, and for what’s it’s worth, the things that I’ve found that help me keep my mood from bouncing all over the place is this: First, for when your so emotional you just CANNOT be around other people, Find something, anything, as long as it’s quiet and relatively calming, and just allow yourself to feel the negativity in private, no matter how awful it feels it WILL pass and you WILL feel better after a varying time. Second, for when you have to be around people during your emotional low, try to see if there’s anyone you can look at and go “hey man, I’m struggling today, is it ok if I take a couple seconds and talk to you? It’d be good to get a different perspective on what’s bothering me” These two things have been the most effective

@@PinkWytchBytch First off, THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing and just… validating. I love responding to these topics on KZbin videos because, almost every time, I either find someone like you that can share their experiences with me and help me feel a little less alone, or I can find someone that I get to share my experiences with to help them! Second, I struggle SO MUCH with sharing with peers as, despite plenty of evidence and logic to prove otherwise, I overwhelmingly feel like I’m bothering/pressuring someone with emotions they didn’t entirely ask for, and I get swamped with guilt and unease. Right now, the best tool I’ve found to combat that is to use the voice memo app on my phone to “journal” - whenever I feel inexplicable discomfort or unease (my telltale cues for building anxiety) I talk through it on my voice memo and actively practice my grounding and/or fact checking to work through the projections and fears and figure out what’s real and what’s not. Also, as a point of reference, my moods go through “seasons”. There are times lasting weeks (if not a month or two) when management seems so much easier, I am more compassionate during my low moments, and productivity is moreorless maintained (if not flourishing) throughout it. I swear, those times practically GASLIGHT me during the seasons when the anxiety and depression are in the driver’s seat, making me wonder how I used to know how to handle my emotions and suddenly I can’t. Don’t know if that makes sense. XD But yeah… seriously, thank you for chiming in!!! I definitely need to work on… not trying to “distract” my way out of just sitting and feeling the chaos.

when I'm feeling unhappy about my drawings, it usually means I've fallen into a stagnation period where I'm not improving. This is the time when I drop everything, evaluate my work critically, take note of the things I'm unhappy about and want to improve, and work my ass off doing studies/watching lessons. It is during these periods that your art improves by leaps and bounds, so I'm excited to see what you have in store in the future!

I'm actually going through kind of (but not really) the same thing when it comes to commiting to making art. I annouced i'd be doing commissions and even got some requests but ended up postponing it bcuz of several reasons,,,, the thing is,,,, i could have done it,,? Like, it feels like i'm sabotaging myself and making up excuses instead of doing it, mainly bcuz i feel bad for charging money for my stuff since i dont feel like its finished enough,,, just a lot going through my head that i'll definetly have to work on in 2023. Its weirdly comforting seeing you (an artist that i really look up to) go through something similar, like yes this is a thing i'm not just making it up to run away from my responsabilities lol. But we'll get through this! Lets work hard this year and make stuff we're proud of!

From what I've heard from the Patreons I follow, you can keep people in the same tier but make the tier unavailable for new members, you can shift them to a new tier (might have to be equal or lower in value then the one they are on), or you can essentially cancel their subscription. I've been shifted on a few accounts, and on one people who had been around for a while got to keep the cheaper price when the funding level changed.

I myself am also working on a comic...although I'm not really working on it. I realized that I don't have some necessary skills for making the comic creating process smooth and making the result be what I want, so I have postponed my comic for another year or so. I think you should keep your patreon! Revamp your page as mucha s you want, even if the 12 people become unpleged. Im nto sure what happens, but I'm assuming they could still get a notification about that and pledge again if they want! It makes more sense to me to keep tha tone bcs then you won't have to change links, everyone still knows that is actually you, plus those 12 people could get a notification from your channel and be excited to see some updates from you!

You should be aware that patreon changed the way fees are processed for founder accounts vs new ones. So I would suggest keeping your old account so you don't have to navigate that hurdle. I will say that I feel you on the whole "floating by" thing. I've made it my goal to work on and stick with one comic idea this year, and I've even done a bunch of development art this year already, and yet, I find myself freezing when it comes to working on an actual page (even a test page). I know it's just my own mind working me up, but that fear of failure really is something else. I mentioned on your recent post on Instagram that what helped me was just setting 30 minutes a day aside to work on my project. This can be in the morning or the evening, but I set a timer and work, and when the timer ends I stop. I found that I've been upping the timer because I've been enjoying the process itself and thinking about the outcome later. I find the next day, I'm usually excited to continue the following day, and I'm often so proud with what I've come up with I end up showing it to people immediately. In my opinion, the key to fighting fear of failure is to simply start.

I saw it and thought gahhh what a simple but totally effective strategy 🥺 I am actually feeling SO re-invigorated with this decision to start a Patreon, the past few days I spend setting it up and figuring it out I actually spent a lot more time working on the Project than the last couple of months,. I think the ability to share wips and thoughts in the discord channel is going to make a huge difference for me. Even though there's no interactions there yet I already feel like it's almost reminiscent of deviantart, so i'm very excited ;u; Thanks so much for always leaving these thoughtful comments, I appreciate it a lot.
