It would be interesting to see Leonard Williams tape in the Pittsburgh game specifically... how did the run defense stay bad/get worse even after adding him + removing Frank Clark?

Sorry to comment twice, but I’d be curious to see what John Hankins can do against the run, too. I hear the Cowboys made Mazi Smith (played for MacDonald btw!) lose weight instead of keeping him at NT, so it could be enlightening to see what the 2023 Cowboys (and probably Durde) wanted in their Noses

Never apologize Monjonbo, always love your interactions. We kinda ran out of time here, but it is definitely enlightening. I believe one of the big reasons Macdonald hired Durde was how he had the DL playing gap-and-a-half techniques with the Cowboys in two-high shells.

I don’t fault the Seahawks for cutting Jamal Adams and not resigning Bobby Wagner and Jordan Brooks. And I understand that Quandre Diggs was too expensive to keep. But I’m not convinced that they have improved their defense from 2023 by bringing in three journeymen defenders (Baker, Dodson and Wallace) to replace them. I didn’t see anything in the tape of Wallace that he is going to be an upgrade over Diggs. He seemed to always be a step too slow to be in on the play. Safety has now become a position of weakness in 2024. Julian Love is very capable and was their best safety by the end of the 2023 season. But Wallace doesn’t seem like the answer and converting their backup slot corner, Coby Bryant, to backup safety smacks of desperation. Is Justin Simmons still available? I recognize that it would be expensive to sign him, but it would definitely upgrade the back end of the defense over where they stand now.

No they improved their defense by raising the standard on all three defensive levels as opposed to have a couple strengths in each, trust the processs!
