He won the fight by rocking Yair and kneeing him in the body BEFORE taking him to the ground and finishing him there. He took the fight to the ground in the earlier rounds because it's idiotic to go toe-to-toe with an elite striker when you have a massive advantage on the ground.

Allen fights too wildly, in the wrong meaning, that can be beneficial against agressive guys or passive guys with bad defense but will get punished heavily by experienced or tactical fighters. The fight won't sell good either since Allen hasn't grown a name or a character yet so Ilia has nothing to win there. Next steps for Ilia need to be: 1) vs Max in Spain, hype, interesting fight (PPV), 1st event ever in spain, benefits for both fighters (Max beating an undefeated prospect, Ilia beating a former champion and being main event at his home building even a bigger name). 2) vs Volk for the tittle, a bit too soon for the UFC imo since they risk losing an undefeated prospect who they can sell with the likes of Max, Ortega or Yair before this happens. However Volk seems eager to fight him (afraid of waiting for him to mature more?) so it can be possible. 3) If #1 or #2 are not possible because of injuries or Volk going up to 155 again, Yair or Ortega could be good fights, both are more mediatic than Allen and #2 and #3 in the rankings, and may act as a possible last fight before the tittle shot of Illia in case he wins and would also mean a possible tittle shot for the one facing Illia in case they win.

bro, I know it's your honest opinion, but from my point of view Topuria is prepared to fight for the tittle with Volk and win. I'm from Spain and I have been following him sice he entered the UFC and I can tell that he has the level enought to win the title in the next fight. The fact is that until the Mitchell fight he has been under the radar and right now is when the people is starting to realise his level. So due to the fact that the people don't know really much about him and don't have the enought information, right now they don't see Ilia beating Volk. Also, he don't talk really much in english but when he does it looks like a little bit arrogant, but he has done a lot of interviews in spanish and I can tell that he is way more smarter than the people actually think and his IQ fight is at the top tier level. My point is that when you don't really know about something you just say the most easy response which in this case is that the actual champion will beat him, but if you have seen his fights since 3 years ago and you have followed every step of his carrer is when you realize that it's way more different thant it looks on the first sight.

The little germ has been completely wrong in nearly every pre-fight comment he has made on Volkanovski. Cejudo is embarassingly biased when it comes to anything Volkanovski. Not one fighter has looked the same when opposite Volkanovski in the cage. It will go the same way as it has always done so , and Volkanovski will overwhelm Topuria by the 4th round. The only way Volkanovski will lose is with father time closing in on him.
