Max Holloway and Ilia Topuria will headline UFC 308 in a featherweight title fight on October 26, Dana White announced on Saturday. Featherweight king Ilia Topuria will take on Max Holloway in the first defense of his featherweight title in the main event of UFC 308.

Ilia is the most well rounded and IMO the greatest fighter of all time in terms of skills. My earliest memories were boxing with my father. MMA became obsession with pride and the UFC at like 5 years old. I loved training, watching and experiencing it all. Ilia is terrifying. BJJ? Flawless. Wrestling offensive and defensive? Amazing. Striking? Best in the sport. Chin? Insane. Recovery time? Insane. KO power? You have it or you don’t. It’s a born thing. He’s got it. People don’t realize how luck we are to watch this dude.

I just rewatched all of his fights in the UFC last night. You can really see just how good he is when watching it all back to back. Topuria walked through some hard shots from Volk, and was cut by Volk. Then went on to confuse Volk with feints and end the fight with combos that have dark intentions. Same way I called the foggy days before..🙏🏼 Topuria will attack Max and slip in to test his chin for sure. Max should consider the head kick as a wild card. In the end after 5 rounds one of these Champs will get the W by decision more than likely due to their iron chins.

The first time i saw this guy, i knew he'd be a champion one day. Ilia is elite due to being highly capable in so many facets of the game. His transitions specifically. most people do not realize one thing about Ilia (Cejudo mentioned it partially): Ilia did have 7 submissions in his first 7 fights in MMA. from these 7 submissions 6 were in first round and only one in second round. Since he is in UFC, he hides his abilities of wresstling and BJJ and focuses only on his boxing, but actually he comes from greco-roman wrestling and then acquired black belt in BJJ. His boxing is just a peak of iceberg of his skillset.

Getting his nose broken in r1 hurt him a lot also. I think if it was the Justin that fought Fiziev it could have went a lot different. Something just didn't seem right with him in that fight. And it kinda left a bad taste in my mouth when Max told him to stand and bang knowing Justin was way compromised and had been eye poked multiple times but he knew Justin would never refuse. Bro people need to calm down with Ilia what the fuck, the only really impressive thing he did so far is knocking out volk but that has a question mark to it because of the previous knockout loss to Islam on short notice. We've heard him talk about how great he is like 100 times more than we've seen him in the octagon, let's give the guy some time to show himself against more of the opposition. You obviously have not been through his line up… he beat Bryce Mitchell on the ground like it was nothing and Bryce Mitchell is crazy dangerous on the ground…he walked through Ryan Halls submission game and koed him… he demolished Josh Emmet… he moved up to 155 and got the KO… the fighters that spoke in this video are all great well respected knowledgeable fighters… stop making excuses for Volks loss… a good fighter knows when not to fight… that proves Ilia to be smarter than Volk

Plus Volk didn't even fight like normal. Volk is usually very aggressive, and in that fight he didn't have that same instinct. Alexander the Great did not show up vs Ilia. I don't think Volk is the same after that bell ringing from Islam.

He fought Ryan Hall when Yair and other fighters were ducking him. He fought Bryce when he was on a 6 fight winning streak and destroyed him. He WENT UP a division to fight because I believe everyone was busy at the time. He fought Josh Emmet a dangerous 1 KO puncher. You can hate on the guy, but he didn't have the easiest path/picked fights in the division. You can say Yair had an easier path to the belt.

@@playfulshop He also agreed to fight undefeated(even now) Movsar Evloev and Movsar got ill and fight didn't happen. Ilia avoided nobody. Now as he is a champion, he says he wants to move up and fight Islam and everyone knows how scary Islam is. But he really wants Islam fight and he's 100% sure he can do it, full confidence like in every fight of his. How can you say he's ducking anyone when he aims as high as possible?
