Jordannn, i have a questionnnnnn. in the scene that they fight after dinner. It's one shot, but I feel like the camera is moving, like shaking, did you notice it? or is just me? And if so, why do you think it is? I feel like it's unprofessional, but I don't think Taylor neglects something like that, im pretty sure she hired people who know what they're doing. What you think? This is Taylor Swift's song I relate to the most. When I was 18 years old, I met a guy, 7 years older than me, and it was all amazing. He lived in another city, and on my first night visiting him, we went to his sister's house. Everything was wonderful while we were together and I felt he was the love of my life. 2 years later, out of the blue, he asks for a break, and I just don't understand why, but I accept. A month after this "break", I look for him, hoping to pick up where we left off, but he breaks up with me. I confess that I was so numb, that I didn't feel so much pain at that moment. A few days later he calls me by text message and wants explanations as to why I was talking to a friend (who he knew) while we were on break (it was just my friend trying to calm me down about everything). At that moment, I felt the pain. Looking back now, I still don't feel like my old self. I'm 28 years old now, and I still cry to this song every time... Thanks to anyone who reads this, I never let this story out and this video made me want to open up and try to free myself from my demons.

This song is basically Swiftie's anthem at this point. Taylor said that the fans changed her perspective of the song, from feeling pain everytime she play this on stage, to remembering us screaming the lyrics and crying our heart together with her. I remember first time I listen to this song, I can picture it in my head because the 5 minutes version was already detailed. And now with this short film, I finally can see the whole picture moving (especially with the line dancing around the kitchen in the refrigerator light), thats exactly how I picture it on the song.
@CunninghamSydney3 жыл бұрын
I actually really love the breakup shot where it's only focusing on Sadie, because at that point Dylan is pulling away from part of the picture. By breaking up he's now removing himself from their story and she's no longer the "main character" she's the ONLY character and by not showing him and his reaction I think its also a great visual representation to show that that feeling of aloneness that Sadie has by focusing only on her reaction.

You know how sometimes you visualize a music video when you're listening to a song? Taylor got really close to how I imagined this one being. The lyrics being so vivid definitely helps. His point about the translation of the lyrics into visuals made me feel a little vindicated since I told someone that I wanted to make music videos similar to this (heavy on the storytelling) and they called me "basic". I'm glad someone whose opinion I value kinda agrees with me in a way!
@aureliaavalon3 жыл бұрын

It's also the things that she doesn't say. At The Breaking Point, when Sadie's character comes in, she's wearing a man's shirt - likely Dylan's character. In my experience, a man's shirt is donned when you stay over and have nothing else to put on, inferring she'd been there for a while. He waited 'til after and then broke up with her, which just... breaks my heart. 'cos that shit hurts, man. It really does.

This song is just hits me. 2 years ago when I was 19 I met this guy who is 9 years older than me. He is basically the HR at the place where I worked part-time job. He started texting me and after my part-time contract finished we started going out and become exclusive. It was fine at first but as time goes on I realized our values doesn't match. I barely gets his friends. Just like in the All Too Well short film, when he is with his friends he is acted a little bit different and his friends are all older than me. He wants our relationship to be more public on social media while I like to keep things private, but I follow along because I feel like maybe its (keeping things private) just a facade that I created to protect myself. But turns out it doesn't. I realize overtime that he is so misogynistic and manipulative. Doubting yourself when you are speaking out because your partner is much older than you so I end up apologizing for things that was not even my fault. Feels like you are the one that is immature when you are just stating what you want out of the relationship. I am so thankful I have the courage to end it even after 1 year of dating. Ps. I've been waiting for this short film and it's finally out. 'All too well', one of my fav song of Taylor. I always thought the song is beautiful & so emotional & also the lyric is just so details. Turning it into a short film is the best decision ever by Taylor ❤️

Not sure if you said this or not bc I got too excited when I saw this, BUT notice how the shots in the first segment are all closer and sadie and dylan are physically closer. Then when the first crack in the glass chapter begins, sadie and dylan are further away, the camera is further away, and it really intensifies the friction happening between them. The tug and pull of the music video so beautifully mirrors the tug and pull of the lyrics. I analyzed the music video for a film class and let👏me👏tell👏you... this was one of the more challenging things I've analyzed simply because there isn't a linear path the elements take. Its so beautifully done.

Also the colors in the lighting when they fell in love were very warm, vintage yellows and oranges. When things started to fall apart, it was very dark and cold color-wise. Then during "are you real" and "the remembering" both the dark and warm vintage colors are used and it beautifully captures the bittersweet emotions of reminiscing and potentially romanticizing the good parts of an abusive relationship. You hang on to those moments like theyre everything you have. Its brilliant

This is what I have been waiting for. Thank you so much for making this. I second your motion when you said that You weren't emotionally ready for this because that was exactly what I felt watching the film. Taylor really did a superb job in this. ♥️

I enjoyed this reaction so much, thank you. I have a friend who minored in film and she always talks about movies in this perspective, which I find really cute and nerdy, and frankly, gives me even more appreciation for the said films. This is really good, thank you!

You were correct on it being shot on film! 35mm to be exact! And it has all the requirements to be considers for the Oscar's short film category. 😏😌

Somehow you explaining technical details makes the music videos more enjoyable! It doesn't work this way sometimes, it fades its magic away. But you really do it well and make it better. It's great.

I can't relate to any part but listening to the song while watching this actually made me feel love and pain at the same time. Wth Taylor, is she even allowed to be this talented?

I saw somewhere that people were commenting at the fact that she was wearing a purity ring at the beginning and after the bed shot she wasn't so I believe the hand shot was extra important to show that.

I've never been in a relationship, yet watching this makes me realise the pain in that relationship in the music video.

It is a filmmaking masterpiece and it's a crime that it didn't even get nominated for Best Short Film at the Oscars.

3:37 that cigarette burn is interesting maybe it's an easter egg. In my theory, that cigarette burn is similar to a rabbit hole. So inside of that rabbit hole, it's wonderland and that's the title of the bonus track in 1989 by Taylor Swift

I'm new to your channel - and I loved your take on this! I personally believe the best-seller ATW book is partially meant to symbolize this song going to #1 on the Hot 100, among many other things.
