That Adriana reaches over to comfort Christopher immediately after he almost choked her to death is such a sad encapsulation of her character.

The scene where Ade confesses to Christopher and their mutual emotional breakdown in each other’s arms after he attacks her…maybe the best example of the acting and scripting of this show seeming like the interactions of real people caught by the world’s stealthiest cinematographer.

When Chris breaks down with Ade, i always get the feeling that it's mirroring the breakdown scene between Henry and Karen in Goodfellas, Chris's actor being an alumni of that movie as well

It doesn’t get any less devastating, no matter how much I watch it, one of the best episodes of television period. Drea de Matteo acted her ass off in this episode. She actually had to talk Silvio’s actor through that scene! They both killed it!

I read somewhere that wacking Adrianna was the most disturbing TV character kill in history. David Chase even had the sense at the time, to kill her OS. (Off screen) Great episode! Love the Springsteen reference from Born To Run, from Christopher, “The highway's jammed with broken heroes On a last chance power drive” lyric line, with Steve Van Zandt sitting right there. He of course is Springsteens right hand man guitar player in the E Street Band. Great reaction!!

The fear of “the regularness of life” is what made Christopher flip on Ade. What’s spectacular about Ade’s last scene is how long it took her to realize she’s about to die. Initially she was just fantasizing about having the strength to leave by & for herself. When that fantasy in her head ended she cries because she realizes she stuck in this awful world. Not until Sil stops the car does she realize she’s about to die.

Masterful writing for a bunch of reasons: We saw Silvios evil side when it came to women in the way he dealt with Tracee so it wasn't out of character for him to do what he did. Like you mentioned he was always the one to comfort Adriana when Chris was in trouble so the whole story Tony told her made sense and fooled most of the audience at the time when this aired, myself included. We got to see Chris' reasoning for giving up Ade without a single word. It was shown throughout the series. She couldn't have kids, she lied to him about getting high with Tony, making him look like a cuck in front of the boys. Allowing herself to be duped by a Fed - which is a death sentence in his life - and not telling him about it, or the murder in her club. The last straw for him was seeing the average joes at the gas station and knowing he would have to leave his life of power behind. Right there gave you all of his motivation to give up Adriana so it really wasn't out of character and made sense for him to do it. I remember sitting in my room with my mouth opened for a good ten mins after it happened. Just great stuff.

Adrianna really had no chance after the first run in with the FBI. She became only a liability after that to Tony's crew. Her only chance would have to been to immediately ask for an attorney at the first meeting, got arrested and more than likely serve time for her crimes. Even then I'm not sure she could of survived. My first time watching I definitely fell for it, and felt so stupid when Sil pulled into that wooded area. RIP Ade, the actress has an Onlyfans page now btw. 👀

Here’s a vital question... when did Christopher decide to rat out Ade to Tony?? Before he left their apartment to “clear his head” or was it when he saw the regular family at the gas station?? The vibe in the apartment was he decided it there. Ade picked up on it when Chrissy said he’s just going to get cigarettes. He told Ade she worries too much to calm her anxiety. Seems like a con line. Seems like he already decided what to do before he left their apartment. Seeing the regular family either happened before or after he told Tony. Which is it??

They were not in the Meadowlands, but somewhere in the hills of North Jersey. I lived up there for most of my life & I recognize the area. The Appalachian Mountains run through the northwestern part of NJ, so the area has a lot of hills & wilderness. The Meadowlands is in a lower level area of the State. Just letting you know. 😶🌫️

This was so tough, poor Ade😢 The make up 'deal' between Carmela and Tony is so transactional lol. He doesn't promise to stop cheating just that he'll make sure it doesnt "intrude" into his home life & Carmela accepts I think she has resigned herself to the life she signed up for - she tried to leave but there's no way out unless she starts from scratch which she definitely doesnt want to do! So she gets 600k as part of the deal to get the most out of the life she chose - sad acceptance. Interesting parallel between the two couples, Ade/Chris, Carmela/Tony. One partner reaping the benefits of the mob life the other coming to a sad end which makes me wonder if Carmela did divorce and get away from Tony would her days be numbered like Ade? Ex-mob wife and the possibility of her flipping to the Feds too much to risk?

It’s never been established Ade can’t have kids. Chances are she can. Chrissy has admitted the “regularness of life” is too much for him. Like all of them he’s a shark that can’t stop swimming because it feels like he will die if he does.
@jeremyrfritz9 ай бұрын
@@gregsgoogle2947Exactly. Ade never said she had no chance of having kids. Just that she might not. Christopher picked the lavish lifestyle being in the mob afforded him over his love for Adriana. He couldn't handle living a quiet lower/middle-class lifestyle. At the end of the day, Chris is a selfish entitled brat.

The whole Adrianna - FBI saga was BS in my opinion. They said they had her on distribution of drugs (cocaine) but the only thing they had is Adrianna and Christopher using cocaine and also Chris giving a very small quantity (amount for personal use) to Little Paulie without receiving any money or even saying clearly that it's drugs. The prison sentence the FBI boss mentions is BS. Also the FBI didn't have pretty much anything on Adrianna or Chris. She spoke with a lawyer about that whole "a wife not being required to testify" thing but she wouldn't ask more things about her case? Any normal lawyer would tell her that they don't have anything real. Also why would the FBI use an agent to trick a mobsters finance or wife? Any informant would have told them that mobsters don't talk business with their wives or fiancees. Tony never did. Christopher never did either besides some trivial things like that Tony gave the casino business to Tony B which the rats FBI could have know. Tony and Christopher would know that Adrianna didn't know much to give to the FBI in any case. Tony would never talk "business" with her whether she was wearing a wire or not. Also how Chris and Tony trust that Crazy Horse isn't bugged yet they were scanning Badda Bing for bugs every now and then. They would have been doing the same there too and they would have located the remote or wired FBI camera. To me that whole story line is unrealistic. FBI wouldn't waste their time with a fiancé while they had 2 informants already in the family. They could have given them more than enough for union frauds like "non-work" geeks that Eugene was involved and other things. You'd say "hey it's a series, calm down" but you can't help to think all those details that don't make much sense.
@georgekech49039 ай бұрын
They just had to kill off the character because Drea De Matteo needed to start filing the series Joey with Matt Le Blanc. That’s why they gave that plot line to her character as to justify her disappearance from the show. Ironically Joey flopped majorly.

Adriana was never the brightest star in the galaxy and she brought it all on herself by snorting blow in front of a complete stranger. She obviously didn’t deserve to get clipped but when your boyfriend is in the mob you should probably exercise some discretion, especially around complete strangers.
