I was literally just telling someone about this concept the other day! Perfect video to send him!

30:46 - this statement is the crux of the whole thing; a "good" color grade has to be determined by the purpose of the image! I love that you tossed that nugget in there.

Working on a Mac and apple products, should I set timeline and output to 709 gamma 2.4 or both set to 709-a ? Does it make too much difference ? I’m not using CST I’m using your apple log conversion LUTS

Can I ask why not Davinci WG Intermediate?

Why not use curves before cst? In a larger color space?
@EvanSchneider9 ай бұрын
In this case, the gamma is more important than the color space. Since the curves tool is not color space aware, it has a different response working before vs after a CST. I have more control and better results using the tool for look creation working in a display-referred Rec.709 gamma.

Why do you work after CST?
@EvanSchneider7 ай бұрын
For creative adjustments, I prefer (and am more accustomed to) how the tools respond in a display-referred gamma like Rec.709. For balance and primary adjustments, I still work before the CST.
