you make a good story by wanting to make a good story. You make a bad story by wanting to make money from a story. Until hollywood can get that in their heads they're going to keep sliding down in quality. Sadly it dowsn't matter because their target audience keeps sliding down in intelligence and already will just buy anyhting with three or more famous names on it.

What need is there for words? I started going to see the Oscar nominated animated short films a few years ago, and I am never less than very impressed. It’s wonderful to see the hard work, dedication, skill, and creativity of artists culminate into one of these shorts. They are infinitely better than most well-funded full-length movies. 🥰

OH MY GOD!! I FINALLY FOUND THIS SHORT AFTER 15 YEARS! I remember watching it on the animation block of a now-defunct Canadian short film channel called Movieola back around 2007. I especially remembered the part with the tomcat choking on the fish skeleton.

This reminds me of 1970s BBC2, and a series of animated shorts that were broadcast under the series title "Intermezzo". Like this video, they were cleverly made, usually had a plot twist, often with a sad ending, but not always, and every one of them was thought provoking to say the least. Well done with this one, and long may you be making films like this.

The shades on the blind character is an old, old gag (also, a lot of "blind" folks in real life can actually see some light and dark, and do wear shades imply to prevent pain and further eye-damage in bright sunlight). Put 'em on a mole, an underground critter with teeny, tiny eyes, who's virtually blind in daylight... Double joke. :-D

I'm a fan of the old Warner Brothers animations and Max Fleischer cartoons but this one chalks up points for contemporary animators.

@David Olinger I loved the Hanna-Barbera cartoons when I was a kid because the scripts were so clever but the animation was kinda stiff; fewer frames per minute and the movement wasn't as fluid. For me the stuff created by the Termite Terrace gang at WB was the cream of cartooning and I still feel I was lucky those old shorts were still being shown. Of course the endless frame-by-frame drawing, shooting and cell-washing over and over was incredibly tedious drudgework and I guess CGI is relatively effortless in that respect, but every advancement in the art rests on the back of an earlier more primitive achievement.
