Instinctively, I don't see no reason why this methodology won't work on writing a novel. Thanks film courage, the host and the guest. I will take this and store in the abstracts of my creative writing mind. This just made writing my debut novel easier.

It absolutely works. It's what I did, I just didn't use this name for it. Happy writing!

Figuring out what you’re characters are doing is also important as well.

Is this applicable to film writing?

yeah... but its leaning more to tv writing that is episodic and group driven. the main difference is that a script is generally finished before the pitch to the movie. so thats the key difference. but this reveals something really important: being able to see how your writing needs to be brought onto the screen. it talks about the set up and pacing for each episode. it would be very valuable to keep in mind as a writer and also writer directors.
