Awesome video! Thanks for sharing :) I love all the insights about what's happening in the writer's room, Niceole's methods and the story of how she came to be a writer -- very professional, friendly, direct and open.

She should be given a role on one of the shows she works on. Shes got organized quality. Memorable face/eyes, discerning gaze, assertive tone. Confidence and determination. And a dolphin

I have noticed that she always recommended books on writing and directing. She never mentioned anything about KZbin videos on filmmaking/writing and directing for TV or film. She also forgot about the FOX Diversity Writers' Program.

Interesting comment Jonathan. So much can be learned on KZbin.

@Jonathan, if she didn’t value learning from a KZbin channel she wouldn’t be giving a two hour interview on one. Not everything needs to be said expressly.

Everyone has ideas and stories. The hardest part is to sit and start-at least that's how it is for me. I found it easier to first write a synopsis-just a general description of the overall story with no detail. I then segment it and make brief short stories which pertain to the segments of the synopsis, not necessarily in order-provided that where I start and where I end align with the start and end of each segment. Then I entwine each story into a single piece. I found it far easier to assemble fragments into blocks and then assemble the blocks into the building, rather than constructing the entire building from fragments. For me, it's easier to fracture a linear narrative, each block can be coloured in detail that may have been neglected if I were to paint a full canvas, and the fulfillment of completing a short, colourful and detailed block gives me the drive, enthusiasm, and the creativity flow to completion. Then it's easy when it comes to the rewrite of the assembled first draft, as you can both be creative and objective when looking at the script as a whole.

@@PhantomFilmAustralia well thank you! Tgat totally explains it...I now know why I only write short stories..tying them together seems to be the key to open more doors of adventure!!! I totally appreciate you taking the time.... This will be the best trip I have taken ..going forward into the depths of each pathway will prove to be extraordinary!!! Be blessed!!

The Writer's Room Survival Guide is a *great* book. I read it because I saw Niceole being really good at explaining this stuff in these interviews, and I was just blown away by it. I think I'll have to re-read the chapter on lunch orders though.

How do you deal with farting in the writer's room? I am a big farter, and i am worried that this might turn off the other writers in the room.
@brandonm8479 Жыл бұрын
The best advice would be to work on a technique that allows the fart to exit silently and if it happens to stink, blame the person who speaks on the stench.
