Good interview. Having to rely on a large amount of others makes the process stressful as he mentions, which is a big reason I enjoy creating feature length animated movies on my own for more creative control. A fun challenge each time.

Indeed. Do you still hire actors to voice the animation?

@@filmcourage Thanks for the great videos and interviews Film Courage. Sorry to hear for the loss of his brother in this interview. Getting a film created with a lot of roadblocks is a major challenge, I agree. I voice all my own characters, and create original music, sound effects, animation, story, etc. as my lifelong dream to have my own film studio. Finishing up my 9th solo feature length animated horror film for 2025 about a Pug dog detective trying to solve an evil ghost curse plaguing his home town, called Curse of Malnurah. City of Rott was my first back in 2006, released through Unearthed Films back then, now with Wild Eye Releasing as of 2024. A number are on Tubi at this time. Marketing is something I'm learning more about thanks to your channel. Thank you for the helpful information and work put into Film Courage.

9th solo feature length animation is astounding! Thank you for sharing. Maybe someone will see your comment and be inspired. Best of luck as you move forward toward your own studio! How many more features will it take?

In my life, when I have to engage in obstacles that really infuriate me on a personal level, writing stories based on those situations has been very therapeutic.

"Painfully lonely" is a 'theme' gettting more and more "normal" as we go along ... Wtf is going on? The why is more interesting.... (?) You are a gem "Film Courage"... Keep up the good work. 👌🏼

I understand you about your brother. My mom died about a year ago. She was the only one. That stood by. Everyone else needs proof. To believe you. Your love is movies. Mine is writing books. Then to turn them into movies. I have one waiting to be published. My publisher want talk to me. Making movies or writing a book. Takes longer than you ever thought of. This is a good interview. Make your movie real. Don't let life stop you.

He;s right - as a child left alone, one's imagination kicks in and left alone can explore many universes that can manafest later on to make a good writer, drawing from the 'well;' of imagination' .

I really relate to how he leveraged his experience as a salesman and ithe experiences to help him get the movie made. Same feeling as a programmer. Coding is a series of problems to be solved. And the coding business aspect has helped me work with people in filmmaking. Great interview.

I’ve always wanted to make a movie, but I don’t like the idea of having to rely on other people, most of whom will probably let you down. That’s why I’ve chosen to write novels instead. I have complete artistic control. It also costs nothing for me to write down whatever I can imagine in my head. I would especially love to adapt my books into movies, but I wouldn’t know where to start. Most of them are period pieces and historical epics. I certainly couldn’t finance them independently. I can’t even afford to buy my own home, let alone an historical epic. I don’t like the idea of having to grovel to a studio. Even if they did somehow agree to finance it, I would likely lose all artistic control. The filmmaker’s concern about not living in LA is also very real. Most people can’t afford to uproot their lives and pursue filmmaking in California, which is overrepresented in cinema. When a movie is made about Kentucky, you’re usually not getting the perspective of someone from the state; you’re getting the perspective of what someone from California thinks Kentucky is like. I believe more people would make films if every state had a film industry that rivaled Hollywood. I honestly believe I could make a good film if I were given the resources to do it, but without that, there’s just too much red tape for it to be worth my while. It would be interesting if another filmmaker offered to adapt one of my books someday. I hope they would be faithful, but in the end, it would be their headache.

I will make a movie, but I will never be in any of my movies because I don't want everyone who personally knows me to know that I am a film producer.

why dont u want them to know ur a film producer?
@M1999-v4v

@@5r6v I think I am just a very private person. I really don't even talk to people I always stay to myself. When people know you are rich it causes problems the late rapper Christopher who went by the stage name Biggie Smalls said that before he died in 1997 he said more money more problems. When I become a film producer I don't want to be known like Tyler Perry another reason why I don't want people who know me personally that I am a producer is because when we work a job our coworkers are not our friends just know that this is another reason why I am planning on becoming a filmmaker, screenwriter, author, publisher, bookkeeper, and landlord because working for someone else it just to many problems . I get bullied by my coworkers everyday that even my boss sees that they are trying to get me to leave the job. I just don't want people who know me personally to know my plans. I was thinking about dating this rapper I like too but I might not because my life will no longer be private and because a lot of people know him because he's so famous. I really don't want to know everyone because I am a quiet person and if I date him he will have too many friends. I only have one friend. When I become a film producer I might just remain anonymous.

Apparently, more money doesn't make it easier. I heard in an interview (can't remember who) that with more money the project gets bigger, and the same problems pop up. More money isn't helping Disney much.

@@wexwuthor1776 I was speaking for independent film makers, It's a shame that the US government doesn't give grants for art like other nations do. Disney and etcs problems are MBAs and writing by committee.
