Troy, I have the talent agreement for the cast and working on the sizzle reel for this reality show with the treatment submitted to the writers guild of america. We just need expertise of someone like yourself to jump on board.

Great info! I'm the CEO of an estate sale company; writer, and author of the book, "Stop Throwing Cash in the Trash" and would like to pitch a TV pilot to the right people. In a few weeks, I'll be meeting some important media sources in NYC; although, I had to pay to attend the media summit. Its a start, though.

@@christianramos515A lot of Interest, but I don't live in NYC for convenience to be on shows. I have a great idea, but you have to know someone in the business to get anywhere. I'd love to talk with Troy:-)

@@turntrash2cash979 You don't need to live in NYC or LA unless your show is about those cities. If you really have a great idea, just start shooting it yourself and posting to KZbin. And you don't need anything fancy to get it done. If you have a modern phone, you can shoot it with that. Just make sure you get great clear sound from your talent. Good luck.

How do you know whether your concept is a turkey - i.e that had previously been shopped around and never flew? Is there any resources you can recommend to assess your concept against to see whether the turkey lives or gets served up at thanks giving?

It's called adding a shit ton of value by meeting the needs of people who are watching and doing it better than anybody else does, can, or will in the future. People don't buy products or services they buy emotions identities and experiences.
@troydevolld97933 жыл бұрын
Ray has answered this well. There's no magic combo of anything that guarantees a sale, and it's largely about having the right show at the right time.

I’m trying to find one of these guys for a little buddy he doesn’t know it but…he’s had bad health issues his body never grew he’s a yung adult male but more like a handsome little kid LOL with a with a beard sometimes a fun attitude he’s got a cute little puppy that’s growing. I’m trying to find somebody in the state of Georgia. He doesn’t know I’m feeling around he could use the work (medical stuff) he could use a break (life is expensive) he had a health problem at a really young age he wasn’t supposed to make it. And he is sharp he doesn’t even use a wheelchair he’d need a small one but probably expensive for him. he’s got a small taxidermy business. If you met him, he would not let you know how hard life is probably been and he’s a little worker as much as he can he’s pretty sharp too. If any directors that do this in the Georgia area find me real quick on my channel but I’m gonna check you out so if you have any bad intentions, I’m gonna know. He’s got a real independent mind he just got stuck in that body and he’s really lovable he’s really fun to know. You’d never know how frustrated he’s probably been, he’s been a pretty good little actor probably most of his life. He’s a good lookin guy too probably a young lady out there maybe if he could catch a little break see if it goes somewhere type thing. Thanks guys ❤ LOL this one’s not inappropriate but this little guy’s got courage, big courage he doesn’t know about any of this yet. But he’s got big courage.

Look at the production companies and networks that are making and showing content in the same vein as what you're wanting to do. When making your approach, make it clear that you approached them for that reason.

This was great information until the end. Did he just say the company kicked out Fred? Did they just steal Fred's idea? I'm not getting it.
@troydevolld65198 ай бұрын
To clarify, if Fred has a lock on the talent, the company can't go to the talent and say, "We know Fred brought you in, but we'd like to take the idea and develop it with you ourselves directly, cutting him out of the deal." Better?

Just a collective who have made it but not a tutorial on what makes a good sizzle
@troydevolld97933 жыл бұрын
Usually, I think keeping a sizzle very short is advisable, and, as with super teases, I like to group the action into emotionally illustrative sections. Big action, big character interaction, quieter conflict, a moment that sums up the tone of the series that isn't just noise.
@troydevolld65198 ай бұрын
There are loads of sizzle reel examples on KZbin. Keep in mind, they're not essential in the way they once were.

How would I protect an idea and prevent the "buffers" between the decision makers from taking me out of the loop with no compensation? I have an idea to rival "Shark Tank" with no skills as a producer or any other skills pertaining to the TV industry. I'm looking for obtaining royalties based on my idea and stepping out of the way.

Not gonna happen. Ideas are a dime a dozen... as even the Sharks know. You gotta do the work - that's where the value is.

@@Antigone-yp6ht The poimnt I was making was that forming an exclusive agreement with any connected talent would prevent the prodco or network from saying, "We love you, (talent), can we hire you and ditch Fred for a similar idea before Fred gets this set up elsewhere?"

How do you prevent the runaround? That's the most interesting part..that you didn't answer

I don't think there really is a way to avoid it. I'm often stunned by how long something can just sit, even after an enthusiastic response from a production company or network. I'm nineteen years into this and the only solution I can offer is to keep checking in in a way that doesn't sound like badgering.

You can't. Firewalls exist to keep overeager newbies at bay. As for the runaround, the business is about value. Show up with that and don't have the attitude of "you guys aren't gonna steal this, are you?"

I have an idea...i have no way to pitch it to anyone. How do i do this? Please help me? I have a great one. Damit I'm tired of not knowing anyone important, or, having resources. I've had an idea taken from me through the United States Patent office, being an entire new brake system. Couldn't come up with the rest of the patent pending fee. After 2 years, it's theirs if you can't do it. This show is just as big if not bigger. I cut grass for a living. I have a great idea that would land billions for whomever jumped on it.

Get a Provisional patent. Lasts a year and is really cheap.(used to be $80) You use it to 'secure' your idea for a year while you look for a buyer.

No idea. Find a network, streamer or cabler that it's right for and start looking into production companies that make stuff for them. Be sure you don't talk about it as being the biggest r best reality show ever... they and their marketing team will be the judge of that, and it makes you sound arrogant and uninformed. Best of luck!
