That sounds more like a red flag. It's like the police who have a Death's Head on their cars/outfits. The implications of both mean the people don't actually care about their jobs. They care about the power.

OMG, I don't think I've heard anything more misguided this year..... enjoy a movie, that's cool.... put yourself on a soapbox pontificating..... expect criticism..... and that was literally the nicest I could be, in case I@m talking to a 12year old, which might be the case? If you are twelve, then I'm sorry, but that's not deep, it's meant to be popcorn entertainment at best!..... go watch a real hard movie, Amistad, American History X, Schindler's List..... or real hard movies to watch that you'll only watch once if even..... Irreversible, The Colour Purple, Requiem For A Dream just for a few examples...... as a life long Transformers fan, grew up with..... it is not deep, well, except for maybe the 1986 animated movie..... that was something that taught kids about death and change...... but a Michael Bay movie????🤣🤣

I think you said it best. The Baymovies aren’t designed to be Oscar-worthy Masterpieces, they’re made to be entertaining. Why does Ironhide shoot his canons to the floor and fly over a screaming woman in slow motion instead of just running? Because it’s awesome! Also, Transformers 2007 *was* nominated for Best Visual Effects at the Oscars, but lost to the Polar Bear movie. Which is ironic because the Polar Bear movie’s VFX have started to look dated now, but Transformers still looks friggin’ flawless.

I will never forget seeing this in theaters day ONE July 2007. Theater full of adults and kids, and the theater ERUPTED into applause at LEAST three very specific times in the movie. One was when Optimus had his opening speech. The second time was during Arrival to Earth. And the third time was when Prime arrives at the battlefield transforming and as he does the pose he says "Megatron". As someone who is a total film nerd, I am in love with the technical aspects of this movie. And the impact the technical prowess these films had on the movie industry cannot be understated. The transforming sound from these films, is still used TO THIS DAY in not just Transformers media (TF Prime and TF One for example take sound cues from this film) but The Avengers 2012's sound design took inspiration from this movie. You can say whatever you want about the Bayverse films, but the fact of the matter is that the franchise as a WHOLE would NOT be as popular as it is without these films. The first movie WAS made with a level of love and care and dedication to the franchise that wasn't really seen in the sequels; the blend of practical effects and CGI was absolutely top notch. The score from Steve Jablonsky in EVERY Transformers film was absolutely god tier. I can't in good conscious totally discredit the first film, because you can see for yourselves they tried. There was effort here. As long as there is EFFORT into a film or TV show, as long as it can provide a good time, leave you satisfied...I'm not gonna get totally mad at it existing.

I'm not here to dog on the Bayverse, but I'm glad that the Transformers have moved on from those movies, and we get things like TF One and the reboot movies, which are not perfect, but I like them. For a time, we lived in harmony. But like all great power, some wanted it for good, others for evil. And so began the war. A war that ravaged our planet until it was consumed by death, and the Cube was lost to the far reaches of space. We scattered across the galaxy, hoping to find it and rebuild our home. Searching every star, every world. And just when all hope seemed lost, message of a new discovery drew us to an unknown planet called... Earth. But we were already too late.”

What truly blows me away is that they decided to fully animate Optimus' face and made the iconic "mask" function like his protective face plate. They didn't have to do all that and save LOTS of time and effort by making him wear his face place all the time and everyone would still be happy (I was actually at first very confused why they made him have a mouth) but damn, it really made him look like a mechanical alien rather than advanced robot.

I actually think it ties in nicely; when he's talking about mixing the known with unknown. With Blackout, he's an unknown attacking something familiar. With Brawl, he's an unknown doing the one thing tanks are built to do; take a hit. With Barricade it's especially fitting into Bay's style of ironic screenplay cause it's an unknown, an unfriendly doing something familiar. Transformers has to be the most cinematic toy commercial ever made. Jokes aside, for what Michael Bay had to work with, he has the best approach because I feel like if a movie about toy robots that transform into vehicles tried to take itself seriously and be an oscar winning film, the Bayverse would've never had more than one movie.

I don't remember much about this film. I really don't and I hate that because I adore Transformers to this day. Transformers as in anything good Transformers. But I still remember one moment of seeing the film when I was younger. I think in my house or in the theater. Either way I saw it after it came out and it forever and I mean FOREVER made me a Transformers Fan. No matter how bad each Transformers movie became my love for the series and this film never wavered. Thank you Transformers (2007) for shaping my childhood and Love for Transformers

Given that the US military enrollment is at an all-time low, i think they should release this movie in theaters again. Let's be so fr that Scorponok scene was the single greatest Air Force commercial ever made. The music? Steve had no reason going that hard.

A re-release won’t help military recruitment. Recruitment will stay low until the military gets its shit together. Veterans aren’t nearly as positive as they used to be when someone comes to them with questions considering if they should join. The US military really doesn’t like the kind of people it needs anymore.

I've unironically watched that scene in an official Air Force CCAF accredited class. It had basically nothing to do with the subject matter aside from including an AC-130H, but that shit goes hard and is the most accurate fire support scene I'm aware of in a movie, just for the simple fact that it actually included an AWACS and that all the radio chatter is from airmen who actually did that as their jobs. The only knock is that by that point, gunships had taken to exclusively flying at night following the Spirit 03 incident.

The thing is, all of those positives sound like they are good to establish a lot of excitement and interest very quickly in a media in which time is your worst enemy, which is where a lot of franchise intorductions fail. The problems with the transformer franchise raised all after the first movie where instead of adding to the already existing substance, he just kept inventing new stuff with the ungodly amount of redcons of when the transformers came to earth and all that stuff. Michael Bay is basically a good sprinter, but bad at marathons, he can establish excitement quickly if he cares, but once he burns out, he starts fumbling tremendously

@@tavinprice2310 Most fans who complain about the Bayverse complain about the sequels to TF2007. AOE and TLK get hit with criticism the most, and ROTF and DOTM come under less fire. However, the majority of those fans agree that the first Bayverse film was decent-to-good, so I don't get where you got the idea that it's overhated. Like, people criticize it, sure, because it's not a perfect film, but it's still a good movie, and many people agree it is. It's starting with ROTF an onwards that all the hate and criticism exists and is justified.

Hot take but AOE was still decent and continued the story after DOTM quite well. Sadly, TLK threw everything down the drain with its endless plot holes and retcons. It's tragic how the Bayverse ended and got rebooted just because Paramount got greedy and chose to stuff 3 Transformers movies into one instead of delivering them individually, allowing the story to naturally continue and grow.
@spirz4557

@@dkkanofkash8798 Bay wanted to end the franchise with DOTM. In the comics there's an alt ending where Megatron and Optimus make a truce and leave to rebuild Cybertron. Unfortunately, Paramount got greedy like you said. Bay was forced to change the ending and gave them two other movies.

Your intro and the first 5 minutes really hammered on the idea of "what we mock is what we like" and it reminded me of an interview with one of the producers of Seinfeld or Raymond where they defended their use of the Laugh Track. While focus-grouping the pilot episodes they had the viewers hold a dial mentioning their enjoyment of the episode, as well as have a written review following their viewings. While the show without the laugh track was *rated* higher, it turns out the show with the laugh track was *measured* as higher enjoyment. Now I cannot track down which show it was so this may be an Urban Legend by now but it's believable enough. I think what happens here is people hate it when they find out they're being manipulated. When people watch more media and become more media literate, they figure out that the laugh track is supposed to simulate "your peers laughing" like the Live Studio Audience (which half the time were PROMPTED to laugh by stage crew). When audiences feel the tugs of "this is familiar to you so you will accept it more" or blatant product placement, they will roll their eyes and mock it. The thing about mockery is it becomes picked up by sketch shows and is lampooned into either meme status or becomes worse than the original offense. Michael Bay movies are *the reason* people mock Product Placement. The irony is Transformers as a media was made to sell STUFF so it's fun to see a "commercial product media" to have so many product placements in it. Movies with a ton of placement like this give wannabe critics something to say about the movie, it makes them stand out in the conversations.
