Amitabh Bachchan did not get the Best Actor award for Deewar even though his acting & dialogue delivery was par excellence, instead to everyone's surprise Shashi Kapoor got the Best Actor award for his only dialogue in the film of " Mere Pas Maa Hai" & the jury got carried away very well knowing the Indian ethos of mother's sacrifice. This was indeed surprising & unfair to Amitabh Bachchan's exemplary performance in the movie Deewar.

FYI, Amitabh had won the Filmfare award for best actor for 1991 movie Hum, Filmfare award for best actor critics for 2001 Aks Filmfare award for best actor and best actor critics 2005 movie Black (he is the only one who won in both the categories till now, thats why he is Amitabh Bachchan) and Filmfare award for best actor critics for 2015 movie Piku.
