Jason, thanks so very much for this video, showing an old man your area, Wow, very awesome and beautiful area. Many lakes in your area and winding River, and that Mountain in the middle of flat ground country really sticks out. Also the sink hole, is that where one of the mines is located? Also Jason, you should promote this video more. For those who do not live in your area and for the train folks, especially seeing how ELS winds through the countryside. Thanks again, Jason, from Smitfhield, North Carolina, Keep up the great vidoes.

I have never seen the pewabic pit from the air. Spectacular. Used to hike all over that pit as a teen. There is an area at the deepest end that has ice in it all year round. Ice on the ground in July and August! If you were there at dusk, you could stand in this same spot as literally thousands of bats swirled around you as they made their way out of the pit to feed at night. Amazing place. Last time I went there (in 1994 I think) the fencing had been improved so that you could not get in. I guess it is for the best, but what an experience.

Oh, you can still get in. All I can say about that other than I do have some old footage from over 7 years ago that I may post soon. Statute of limitations, eh? lol

At the 2:56 mark is that formation, that was zoomed in on, a cave that caved in or a sink hole?
@kenttalsma79063 жыл бұрын
What is that hole? Is that where Iron Mountain got it's name after they mined the iron from the "mountain"?
@joefarnell56723 жыл бұрын
I noticed this formation as well. ANSWER: Both, I assume it is an abandoned mine that has succumbed to natural erosion. And wholeheartedly am hoping a "catastrophic sink-hole prevention team" is made aware of this natural phenomenon. One can easily witness that the dirt road is suspended over cavernous streams.

-@@jasonasselin you could provide a trailer or a clunker car and propane heater....Perhaps funding from a special referendum on the ballot. You could film the organizing effort and put it on you tube. WOW what an idea. I know who has the capability lol

Most depressing music I've ever heard with this video. 😪
@jimknarr8 ай бұрын
Did you figure out what that round depression is in the woods? Was it man made like a iron mine?
@jasonasselin8 ай бұрын
Pewabic Pit, old mining ruins.

@@jasonasselinIt's interesting that it was pumped dry when you flew over. When I look at it in Google Maps, it is full of water. The owner is KEWEENAW LAND ASSOC LTD which is a privately held mining company.
@jasonasselin8 ай бұрын
Never had been full of water. Google maps is wrong. Keweenaw sold that years ago.

What is that opening in the ground, mine or something else, so usual failed government underground project ? I bet they have usual excuse saying it is sinkhole.
@jasonasselin8 жыл бұрын
That used to be the underground Pewabic Mine, the ceiling was dangerously unstable and it was blown in years ago.. Many people have climbed in to explore it since.

Jason Asselin Thanks for sharing! At least they do not blame on nature this time :) I wonder if *Report From Iron Mountain* has to do anything with this place?
