I've never heard of The Christophers (Christ bearers) but a quick search shows they still exist. The Ten Commandments was first released in 1956, but played in theaters around the US until 1960. I remember seeing it as a small boy somewhere near the end of this long run. I have a vivid memory of standing outside in the dark with my parents and siblings, waiting in a long line to get into the theater. For me the most memorable scenes were baby Moses in the reeds, the burning bush, the staff eating the snakes, the deadly mist at the first Passover, the parting of the Red Sea, and the creation of the commandment tablets. I've seen the movie several times since then, and eventually concluded that while DeMille may not have told a very accurate or complete story of Exodus, he did tell a thrilling one that got a lot of people into the theaters and maybe a few of them back into church.
