Thanks for the great review! Lots of useful information. To be honest, your video scared me off from this camera for weddings. No autofocus and IBIS -- ok, can deal with. I filmed on the 5D3 for a decade, and still use it occasionally. But the Blackmagic 6K's battery life and storage issues just freaked me out. And I think I'd miss the 120p slow motion I now have. My three main cameras currently are two C70s and an r5c, and these definitely have their own issues. The C70 is not a handheld camera; and the r5c has "trash battery life". But there's also a lot about these cameras that just works, you know? Meanwhile, I look with envy at my friends, who are happily running around handheld with Sony mirrorless cameras. They could rock up to the bride's house in the morning with a camera body, a 50mm prime, and that's it. Good stabilisation, low-light, autofocus and weight and ergonomics. The image is no doubt NOT as gorgeous as 6k raw from a Blackmagic, but I guess there's always a compromise...

I mean the DJI RS2 or RS3 with their Lidar focus systems would seem to resolve the biggest shortcoming aside from battery life for the most part.
@glennc.ganley16853 жыл бұрын
The battery life is why-i-i-i-i-sold it. Though I'm considering going back to it as I plan to focus mainly on music videos now, and the versatility of BRAW is so good! About to shoot a wedding on the FX3 tomorrow, I'll be able to make a knowledged decision after that I think.

@glennc.ganley16853 жыл бұрын
@@JustinPorterMedia Hey mate! So, my experience with the FX3 today was!... awful. Beyond the footage looking, as I could best describe it, 'clumpy', Sony needs a serious firmware update for this camera. My settings kept changing on me, such as my recording format randomly changing from 4:2:2 10-bit to 4:2:0 8-bit, my face-tracking box disappearing multiple times and not appearing when I'd set it up with touch focus, even the WB randomly changed at one point, and to top it off the zebras wouldn't work in S-log3. I've already called VideoPro where I picked it up here in QLD, Australia, and they've been really gracious and have agreed to refund it so I can go for the 6K pro instead.

Hey Barry. Thanks for subscribing and supporting the channel. Truly appreciate it. So typically indoors I switch to 3200 iso since it will give you the greatest dynamic range in the shadows. Dude THIS is a very informative video! Just happened onto your channel and subbed! Jumping into the wedding videography gig and looking at the A7sIII or the 6K pro. Already have a Ronin S but no focus pulling system. Thinking the Sony may be the way to go, I just hate getting rid of my Canon lenses (little teary eyed). Love your content! Keep up the great work!

Hey I truly appreciate the support! Even though I love my Blackmagic cameras, I don’t know if I’d 100% recommend them for starting off with weddings. I started with an a7s mk 2 and loved it. I can’t imagine getting rid of the ef glass though lol

Do you shoot wedding solo?

I offer an 8 hour package that’s just one videographer. Typically I still hire my second though. I’ve gotten so used to having an extra set of hands the day of lol

Your work is amazing however I believe you don't need to film 6k footage for a wedding video it's kinda of similar to using a Arri Alexa to shoot a films BTS (Just my opinion)

Oh I’ve said that countless times haha. It 100% is overkill. I’d be sold on the pocket 4ks if they weren’t micro 4/3rds lol either way though massive 2 tb 6k wedding shoots are so lame 💀

Reframing in post is the reason for 6K. Not export.
