I get that Venom was a studio inclusion because of Avi Arad and with Sam already doing Sandman mostly, it was hard to put him in the original story Sam had planned. So with rewrites and reworks, Venom was included. But that of course came with problems of its own with the reception of the movie, Topher and just Venom all together. Spider-Man 3 has a weird place in my heart. Back then I loved it because I was a lil kid enjoying my favorite hero on the big screen, but as the years progressed I became so much more critical of it. Now though, I’ve grown to appreciate it and what it brought. This Venom actually scared me more than any adaptation we’ve gotten so far. I remember having nightmares for like two nights after watching this movie because of the design and sounds of Venom which were done fantastically to make him really Alien. It’s a shame we’ll never see the REAL Venom Sam Raimi wanted for this movie that included a Venom LITERALLY tearing at Eddie Brock, ripping his skin and flesh off as he became more parasitic and alien as well as the original ending with there being a venom skull after he and Eddie died

This film has a lot of potential, but the big problem is that everything was "optimized", and so they ended up cutting out interesting things. When Sony re-released the Spider-Man films, I thought they would add scenes that were cut at the time, but no, they missed an opportunity to improve the film

This movie is a masterpiece, curse all the haters for taking spiderman 4 away. Even with raimi not wanting to do venom, you could see he was still putting his all into the character. As well as Topher grace being super excited for the role, he must've been heartbroken to see all the lashback from fans in 2007. He's not the comic accurate build, but he's the perfect yin-yang to parker in the raimi movies.

I found out Sam doesn't know Venom and he never wanted in his movie but he said something like he tried to make it work it didn't go well but I found out 2:41 Avi Arad interfered Sam vision put Venom in because if he wanted fans to like Spider-Man 3 even more put in our favorite character Venom and sell toys but Sam doesn't know Venom he was unhappy how he made Spider-Man 3 and he decided not to make Spider-Man 4 2011 If Sam just had creative control with Spider-Man 3 like he did with the first and second it would have been awesome then Sam would have made Spider-Man 4 2011 In Spider-Man 3 Sam originally wanted Sandman and Harry Osborne is the new Goblin as a villain

Ahh yes 12 year old me watching this in theater and had the shit scared out of me with this venom. The squeals and screams of venom and that jump scare where venom drops down above Peter and picks him up by his head terrified me 😂 just wish his voice was a little bit deeper and maybe a little more muscular and it would have been perfect. And more screen time. Venom is in my top 3 Spider-Man villain list. Along side goblin and doc ock

So much work involved and attention to the Venom design details, I love it. That being said, there are a few details missing with this Venom. Obviously the size difference compared to Spider-Man, the menacing deep voice, and the way he talks(we instead of I). The size difference I could look past that for this version, but as for the other two I don’t know why they chose to ignore them.

Truly the most underrated and most unappreciated villain in Marvel cinematic history. There's no way you can convince that Tom Hardy's adaptation was better in capturing the essence of Venom. You can't have a Venom w/o any tides to Peter Parker. Sony dropped the ball again and Hardy is a heck of a talent, just was just doomed from the start unfortunately due to terrible storytelling. Topher's Venom was robbed due to lack of screen time, just like Leto's Joker. This Venom was an absolute masterclass and would thrive nowadays if it was brought back somehow.

The movie was always going to have three villains. Vulture was the original one but Sam didn't like how he felt so disconnected, they threw the idea of Venom in and after the draft was written he liked it and was on board. Stop spreading false information.

Vulture was supposed to be third antagonist in the movie. If I'm not mistaken, the whole "Peter let Spider-Man popularity get in his head" was always part of the plot, same with making Flint the man responsible for Ben's death. Avi Arad pushed for Venom because of his popularity and Raimi didn't want Venom because at the time, and yes, I know he "clarified" it, but he was adamant about how he hated the character. Anyway, aside from being forced to include Venom, any misstep the movie had was on Raimi as he did the script. I like the movie, by the way, but there are things that could've been better. As for Spider-Man 4, Sony wanted for May 2011, but the scripts weren't good enough, so Raimi walked away from the project because he knew he couldn't make the movie on time and Sony went with plan B that ended up being The Amazing Spider-Man

The sad part is, had Sony not wanted Sam to use venom so badly in this movie, he could very well have been the setup for a later film. Maybe introduce Eddie, but kinda leave it at that, and finish the battle with Harry and Flint first. Then focus on Curt Connors in Spider-Man 4, then come back to Eddie in Spider-Man 5 or something and have a nice build up to him. Thats what made Harry so good too was it was a three movie buildup to his showdown with Peter, before ultimately helping him. If you could pull that off, you’d have a great story rolling with the perfect cast. But I guess we’ll never know since Sony made the decisions it made

Not to hate on Hardy’s venom, it was fun. But this venom was in my opinion, more realistic. It could have some improvements for sure but I think it looked the best. That being said a perfect mix of both would be awesome. Topher Grace as Eddie I think is way better (also actually like the comics) the deep voice in Hardy’s venom, the size of Hardy’s venom, but everything else from this venom and I think it would be perfect

If you read ultimate comics, then you would know that this Eddie is accurate since he was skinny. His name is literally Eddie brock jr. He also has a creepy thing going on with gwen. His working for the Daily Bugle and frame-up of Spider-Man bears similarities to his 1990s counterpart and both get fired as a result, but unlike his 1990s counterpart, he goes to the side of outright evil while his 1990s counterpart redeemed himself and became an ally of Spider-Man. The earth 616 parts also catch up, being a foil to peter, also the fact that their meeting with venom happened in a church when peter unknowingly took it off, thinking he was alone.
