Hello! ^_^ The protagonist with the red cape is Darius, maybe you recognize him from the Ruination cinematic. He and the antagonist, Zed (masked guy with the shadows) are actual champions in League of Legends. The other characters are from the card game Legends of Runeterra. I have to point out, that this video doesn't show a canon story, the characters are from different side of the League's world, Runeterra. This fight never happened in League's story. The cinematics with dialogues are relatively a new thing in League of Legends' history. The first years the creators didn't really know how to put every character in this giant universe correctly. I think this was the main reason why they didn't use dialogues at first, because they wanted to make a cinematic about the game(for example: New Dawn), but not a region or a character or Runeterra in general. They just put a bunch of characters in the video to fight each other. That's why they left out the dialogues from this video as well. It is not about the world, this is promoting the card game and all of it's great characters. I highly recommend the Tales of Runeterra cinematic series, they are beautiful, well made short stories. Plus you can learn more about Runeterra, the lore as well, because every piece shows a different region of the world. They are not connected, so you don't have to watch all of them to fully understand everything. And thank you again for this great content! Greetings from Hungary. ^_^ (and sorry for my english)

Amazing analysis and reaction. You covered everything to the highest degree while still keeping it interesting and fun to watch. Also the main character (with the battle axe and the cape) is called Darius as a lot of people have said in the comments. And one thing to point out is that at the end when Darius closed his eyes because of the huge ghost looking monster, that was a spell card to play ingame that perishes every character on the board at that moment. That is why darius wanted to fight it at first but then lost and so called "died", but then the woman with the sword cleansed the spell removing it and saving Darius with it. All the characters (also the huge lion thing with the crystals on the back) are playable cards, and only Darius and Zed (the master of the shadows) are characters in league of legends (so called Champions)

This aesthetic of moving pictures, I think, meant to be connected with the fact that it's the card game. Some shots look exactly like art, that actually exist in a card game.

One interesting thing to note about this cinematic is that it's a re-orchestration of an earlier one (Launch Announcement | Cinematic Trailer - Legends of Runeterra) with a few extra bits of animation added in, and that the original cinematic had a voiceover which gave context to what it's actually about. The three scenes are a metaphor for the card game itself and how people can approach it, showing progression from a blunt and one-dimensional strategy to a game between players with cool decks full of all kinds of cards and plans at their disposal.

legends of runeterra is a card game. So i like that at the beginning and at the end, the scene become cards to form the title.

Zed, the guy who looks like the shredder is a league of legends character, along with Darius - the protagonist of this short. Everyone else is a character introduction purely for the card game, they make no appearances in league of legends the game itself, but are relevant to the lore of some of the characters for the very few people who read up on that stuff. Darius is less of a villain in the lore and more like an anti-hero. He fights for his country, like everyone else, but he is the best at it & his leaders tend to be the bad guys. Where as Zed is more of a straight up villain from what I understand.

Just to dot the I's: The guy we follow in this video is Darius, the hand of Noxus. He is the older brother of the "Imperartor guys" in the Awaken video, Draven. The other guy is Zed, the ninja/Shredder-style guy. And those 2 are actual playable champs in LoL. The rest of the people we see in the video are story characters (even the giant winged-tiger). The video is not TOTALY story-driven, is more art than that. If you like a full story video of LoL i Suggest Call of Power - Ryze cinematic. In my opinion, he is the MOST important character in the game and kinda protagonist of the biggest scenario on runeterra. Also suggest to se "The Path, An Ionian Myth" to see how Yone, the Yasuo's brother (katana-guy), become a demon. Just to complete the circle story. Love your reaction, keep up the good work. Peace.

Runeterra is a card based game that includes all of League's roster but also introduces a bunch of characters & spells that are only available in Runeterra (for now) & are completely Canon to the Lore of League of Legends. Darrius (axe guy) & Zed (Shredder like Ninja) are current League heroes. They are opposed as Darrius is one of the Leaders of Noxus a more militant country & they have invaded Ionia a more calm Asian inspired country that Zed is one of it's more well known protectors. He's a more "misguided" & vicious protector but everyone in League is a good guy from their perspective. The other characters are representatives of their regions. Giant Ghost Skull is from the Shadow Isles (a place were the dead rule) Soldier & her Calvary are from Demacia (Who are slightly similar to Noxus but less warmongering & more about racism against Mages) The Kids are from the more technological Piltover or more like it's oppressed underbelly known as Zaun. Tiger creature is also from Ionia.

I think the eyes we see at the start and throughout the video is actually foreshadowing?? Lead up? Idk the word. To that moment where he gets defeated. If you look closely at the shots, the reflection in the eyes are this sickly greenish blue and shapes that look like teeth, which are the same colors/shape of the wraith that took him out. So actually everything leading UP to that is the flashback and when the soldiers come, that's present time

Dude, as a matter of fact: Most of League Cinematics doesn't have any dialogue, unlest it's a canon storytelling cinematic, or a Music video (An even so, most of the time the words don't come out of the champions mouth). The only ones where "talking" was introduced are: - Ryze Cinematic (No, not the song) - Harrowing first launch cinematic - Odisey and some Nightbringer/Dawnbringer - All legends of Runeterra region presentation cinematics - Some of Blossom Spirit event cinematics and the same goes for Ruination event - Some Pentakill Songs, The true damage Song, KDA Pop Stars and MORE songs Maybe i'm forgetting something, but that's it. And sorry if my English is a little bit... well, you can tell. Good reaction, full support from Argentina.

this video doesnt really have a real story timeline, its used advertise Legends of Runeterra, which is a card game. the sequence of events in this video is basically how it would play out in an actual match, where each of events is like a card being play in the game. so you dont have to worry on the subtle story telling as much.

@@PhilipHarts Yeah the art for league of legends and legends of runterra is a bit different and in this trailer his cape was actually 3 times longer than it actually is in the game thats why it felt like a different champ or at least not the same

Only the cap guy (Darius) and the shadow guy (Zed) are champions. The rest, including literally every animal/character you see in the final battle are Cards (followers). Speaking of, that’s what the final thing said “League of Legends Card Game”, which you initially skipped over. That also explains the final name reveal, looks like cards coming together :)

@@PhilipHarts it's similar to mtg in a lot of ways, except the collecting cards part. In Legends of Runeterra it's almost impossible to not collect every card in a span of a month, unlike most of other card games, where you should either spend your whole bank account or grind for a roughly billion years. Great game.

@@PhilipHarts it’s….a mix of Hearthstone and Yugioh, with a Turn based system where most actions you take the opponent can then also take 1 action. And “your turn” is just whoever gets to attack that turn. Then they make champs from league into the card versions, and then fill the rest of the game with extra minions/monsters that come from the League universe but because they’re not champs, most are new to the lore but make sense. Like, soldiers in Demacia’s army, or travelers climbing a mountain. If you care to ever try it, it’s THE most free2play friendly CCG thats out there. Riot makes some Solid games haha

this is in the league of legends universe, but its for a card game, kinda like hearthstone. there are many characters there that are not "playable cahmapions" just the Ninja(zed) and Darius(the guy with the axe). The rest are characters from the game

All the characters are from the same world as league but the only in game characters are Darius and zed, the other prominent characters are cards like zeds shadows and cithriya the bold

Darius (guy with the axe) and Zed (shadow ninja) are both champions in League and in this game, but all of the other characters (yes, including the tiger) are exclusive to LoR - but they aren't champions, just side characters!
