Sometimes I feel like the side characters make the show. Like you know the gang are all some dependant sociopaths then you meet a side character like the mcpoyles or Artemis and you realize, at least their craziness is specific 😭

This is the episode that cemented Artemis as a legendary IASIP side-character for me. She's incredible. Also, I just love the ridiculously evil grins Dennis and Mac have when they are pooping the bed at the same time.

The short story of how "It's Always Sunny" got Danny DeVito is as follows: Sunny had a very devoted but very small following in its first season and while it was a favorite of the network, they also were struggling to justify greenlighting a second season because of the rather unimpressive watchcounts. So they approached Rob, Glenn, and Charlie and said that they needed to add someone with pre-existing star power to the show to help improve ratings, which the three of them were reluctant to do because they didn't want to interfere with the developing ecosystem they were trying to establish, only to be told if they didn't then the show would be canceled. Danny was apparently already a fan of the show because his kids watched it, so when FX president John Landgraf approached him to possibly be a part of the series regular cast he took the offer with no hesitation.

It also helped that Landgraf and Danny were old friends, since Landgraf had run the TV department of Danny's production company in the years prior. So I think it definitely helped that they were good friends, since Danny definitely trusted his judgement when it came to "hey, this is a TV show you should consider being a part off"

I believe Danny was actually on the fence about it but was convinced by his kids who were fans of the show (as you mentioned) and said something along the lines of never forgiving their father if he didn't take the part. Therefore the DeVito kids are owed a lot of thanks from Sunny fans.

Also Danny was originally only going to be in the second season. They had a going away party for him once they finished filming season 2 but everyone, fans and the cast, loved the dynamic so he became a permanent cast member. Which was the right decision. I couldn’t imagine the show without him.

The funniest part about the scene where Kaitlin falls head first into the car is that they technically had a stunt person ready to film it out,but Kaitling ended up saying "I think I could make it funnier if I did it myself",and damn near broke her neck in the process! Between this and the waterboarding,I think you could say she's really dedicated to her craft LMAO I really love that the gang has gotten so confident in their writing that they made an entire episode to say "poop is funny" and nailed it.

Just saw the cast in person in NYC. Kaitlin Olson said that she had a stunt double who kept missing a certain spot in the car, ruining the takes each time. Kaitlin asked to do just one take where she did the stunt herself. Hit the REAL car and caused the real dent we see here and gave us such an iconic moment. You can see the Waitress flinch in this. Mary Ellis was at this event too, she said she nearly broke character to ask Kaitlin if she was okay. Kaitlin also was fast to tell us she wears size 8 womens.

The 'you got turd?' guy is played by the same actor who played Marty the stoner in Cabin in the Woods, Fran Kranz. More evidence of Kaitlin Olson being a badass though as she fully did that stunt herself for real as she doesn't feel like having a stunt performer doing things for you is acting - you should take the whole role on, in her eyes. She needed months of chiropractic treatment afterwards.

That's not quite right, it was an intentional stunt, but Kaitlin Olson wasn't satisfied with how the stunt performer was doing it (because it was safer lol) so she did it herself for real.

The guy who inspects the poo is Fran Kranz. He has been in some cult classics. Cabin in the Woods is probably the highest profile movie he has been in. He was also in a show called Dollhouse, which was an interesting concept that had its moments. Both were Joss Whedon projects. I highly recommend Cabin in the Woods. Dollhouse is something worth watching at some point, but not necessarily a priority.

So glad you appreciated this episode lol. As someone who’s not a huge fan of gross out humor, i found this episode surprisingly funny. Dee with her preposterous antics k*lled me, pretending the credit card companies were wasting her time, barreling headfirst into a car, and having a mental breakdown (as I believe Vivaldi played??) at an art show. Per usual, part of the hilarity was how straight everyone played it, including Artemis. Her speech was incredible. Especially considering it wasn’t true at all lolol. Referring to them as *Titans battling it out* and noting “as so often happens” when two po ops become one.

You really should whatch the bloopers from every season you've completed, they are absolute gems. Additionally it would be cool for you to react to some clips from the podcast where they talk about some directing, acting and writing decisions in the show (be careful though, they sometimes drop spoilers from later seasons). The writing on the show is amazing! The acting is great and I loved the the editing on the last bit with Artemis too. It’s just a great show! FX had so many fantastic shows and still does season five of Fargo will be out next month which I can’t wait for, especially because that means Noah Halle will be free to turn his attention to the Alien based anthology series he’s making in the format of Fargo. One of the shows that I know you would flip your lid over. It is one of my favorites is one that he made in between seasons of Fargo is the marble-based show Legion it’s mine blowing. I’ve never seen a show edited like that, you need to check it out if you haven’t ✌
