The small crystal bird skull is a magic weapon, an enchanted artifact that Yennefer uses for self defense when in need. She usually carries it on a necklace, I think. But lost it in the heat of battle when the spell's power waned and it reverted back to inactive while she was fleeing. Geralt can actually find the bird skull in the beginning of the game if the player looks around carefully, employing his keen witcher senses which highlight hidden tracks and objects.

Actually, song name is "The Trail" composed and produced by Marcin Przybyłowicz and performed by Percival. Search for the game music if you have a moment, great ambience.

Anyone noticed the guy Yennefer stumbles upon during her escape is the same guy who get's possibly hanged by the girl Geralt saved in that oner cinematic? Also if we're speaking of transitions, this cinematic transitions absolutely flawlessly into the game engine, you can find that skull yourself too and give it back to Yennefer.

I watched couple of your videos, and, man, I love your analysis because now I can see how simple and theoretically irrelevant things, like camera movement, perspective and stuff like that can help with storytelling. Now its so obvious, but Ive never thought about that before. Thank you.

Another cool transition that sadly wasn't on display here: this video serves as the actual opening cinematic for the game itself; and from that close-up shot of the bird's skull in the end there, it flows seamlessly into an in-engine cutscene. Masterfully done. The Witcher cinematics are some of my favorite in the entire gaming world.

As far as fantasy genre , this game is insuperable and reigns above all of them. The story, the immersion , the characters, the graphics , sound design and music…. This game is 10/10 and for being almost 10 years old, it still holds its place at the top. You’d love it if you ever decide to embark in this journey.

The mind blowing thing in this cinematic is that the places and things from it are 1:1 in the game. The battlefield is there with dozens of corpses and you even have a mission there and can hear some history of the battle. The direction in which Yennefer was riding at the end is the exact direction fitting the narrative and the story, because she was riding towards White Orchard, and the location in which the bird's skull fell is really near the battlefield, between it and White Orchard AND you can actually find this skull in game AND give it back to Yen later.

I loved Witcher 3 so much that I did as little story as possible while grinding to as high a level I could get fighting enemies alone. Since when the game launched, there was no NG+ so there was limited XP from quests and enemy xp decayed as your level gap from them got higher.

I've always been tormented by the question of why Yennefer rides a horse across the battlefield at all, if she can teleport to any place at any moment.

Mages can be drained out of their power too, they have to replenish their "mana" by drawing it from places of power. Maybe she just didn't have enough or was trying to not get detected by other mages or anyoine from the lodge. In the books, mages travel on horseback pretty frequently too.

YES finally you did this one... this game is im my top 3 of best games ever made.. but the trilogy is not in my top 3 as a franchise.. Mass Effect tops that one for me :-) if you havnt done any of the ME cinematics or played the games.... you really should try ...

I'm just waiting for a company to realize that it's worth it to just pay and wait for a studio to just make an animated series that looks like this, instead of doing live action. I know it would take forever, and be expensive as hell, but it would be better than everything that came before it..

The game is waaaaaaaay better than that [thing] on Netflix. The atmosphere and everything is much closer to the books, even though they (old CDPR) made some minor changes.

hey, it was also quite enjoyable to watch the witcher reactions after warcraft. For your next cinematic reactions, I recommend Diablo to you, I'm sure you'll be amazed.
