Hey all. Thanks for watching. I'm curious about something. Do BTS fans care about the band having been carefully put together by the record labels? I know this is a big thing that always gets talked about in contrast to Western artists often starting as independent musicians, and then eventually being discovered by big record labels. Should it matter how artists/bands are formed as long as their music is good?
@led_by_pied_pipers1530

Historically in the western music industry, bands that were formed by a label weren't given creative and artistic freedom which is why (in comparison to independent artists) their music wasn't considered authentic. this is also the case for most kpop artists. but what sets bts apart from the rest is that from the start, their independent label's CEO Mr Bang encouraged creative freedom and asked the members to be true to themselves in their music. this is what made them relatable to the general public and earned them the respect they deserve. as army we often feel like we're reading their diary in their songs cause they're very honest, vulnerable and intimate. so I would say authenticity is the key ingredient for the popularity of any artist, regardless of how they were signed to a label.

Ooo, good question… and actually when it comes to BTS, there’s so much to unpack 😂 I think their good music (sweeping across genres) in addition to well written, deep, thought provoking lyrics… captivating choreographies, good looks, etc. were all backed by a foundation of authenticity and sincerity. Yes they were put together through the kpop system but what sets them apart is that the members were allowed to express themselves (yes they were heavily involved in writing and music production) in their work, and they were very good with connecting with their fans even from the very beginning before they debuted through social media, sharing vlogs, doing livestreams which have continued even to this day. They’ve shared their victories and their struggles with like mental health and other real life things that many of us can relate to as humans. On top of all that, I believe ARMY is also drawn to them because of their relationship with each other - the kind of brotherhood that they have is so admirable. One might doubt that all 7 could possibly get along, but they actually do even after a decade of working together. It’s interesting really, ARMY see them as these living legends (watch their live performances they’ll blow you away) but at the same time are aware of some of their insecurities and humanity. It’s tough to explain, you would have to go through the rabbit hole journey to fully understand why they’ve made it big and why ARMY from around the world feels the way they do for these seven Korean men. I mean they’re even an anomaly in the kpop music industry. Theirs is quite the come up story. If you’re truly curious and interested about their story - coz yes they have amazing songs and music videos (I’m sure other comments will give you lists), but their story is another aspect about them worth checking out - I highly recommend watching The Rise of Bangtan series here on youtube. The channel is TheRiseOfBangtan. It is fanmade but the creator is a professional editor and the quality of the series is superb. It gives such good insight on their journey starting as underdogs heading towards a gradual rise in fame. No pressure 😅 But if you do decide to jump in the rabbit hole it’ll be quite the ride . Great reaction by the way, it’s always interesting to see raw perspective without the context of the group’s background, the lyrics… and the order you did it made me just laugh coz it was all over the place. I’m curious if there will come a day that you’d come back and rewatch these and react, what things you’d say.

It does not matter as they made something spectacular and all of them love each other more than brothers. I think people hate when artists don't have freedom or members of a band don't like each other.

it's not just the good music, they're genuinely good people (and adore each other). you may laugh at that or be skeptical but they are the only celebrities i fully believe in to be completely the same on and off camera; just watching their attitude and behaviour, and listening to the people from all walks of life who have met them will tell you that all the same. considering what made bts stand out was the fact their label allowed them basically full artistic creativity with their music and lyrics, i see no issue with a company putting them together, as self-promoted artists with no companies are not necessarily better artists OR better people in any way. the perception of kpop as a factory as compared to the western music industry is hilarious to me because the only real difference between the two is that the kpop industry leaves the whole process out into the open while the west just does it on the downlow. the mistreatment is the same otherwise, just geographically and culturally different. but as i said, that doesn't matter in bts' case because the main reason for their huge popularity IS them jumping out of the kpop box of control and doing their own thing as musical artists while also still keeping some of the positive elements the industry has set as a standard such as the high quality visuals, the choreography and the sharpness in all aspects of their work. they have actually set a positive trend with how much people acknowledge them as great lyricists, composers and producers and now more kpop companies are pushing for their artists to create their own music because they've noticed fans respect that much more. what's even more important is that they're great people on and off camera. starting from the bottom but also always staying humble is why they will always have my respect.. and i don't see why a company putting them together would ever change that because they weren't just thrown into the limelight, they personally worked hard to be there and all the company (who was almost bankrupt during their debut) did for them is organize events and help manage them. they're quite open with basically everything in their career and with their personal thoughts, you have it all on tape and in music and lyrical form. there's not a fake bone in their bodies. also, the emergence of industry plants in the industry who pop up out of nowhere as pushed by labels such as gayle and olivia rodrigo should really tell you the western industry is not all sunshine and roses and people blowing up and then getting found by labels like you seem to think it is. bts members auditioned for the group as talented individuals themselves fair and square.

IDOL's music video isn't complete nonsense, it actually all makes sense with many references and symbolism. It's also made weird on purpose, if you look at the lyrics and what it's about. Every single part of any BTS music videos is made intentionally with a meaning behind it.

What they think: ooh just a bunch of random things put in the music video cause they have the budget. What it really is: bunch of symbolism and meaning behind it, many creative professionals planning the mv considering the lyrics, the choreography, the theme of the album, the whole storyline.

Thanks for the reaction, it was interesting to see what jumped out to you even without any context. If you're really curious, most of the MVs also have an associated behind-the-scenes video so you can see which aspects are physicals and which are CGI. Highly recommend turning on the English subtitles so you understand the lyrics, as the depth of BTS' lyricism is one of the key reasons their music is so loved. I love their English songs a lot, they're intended to be summer bops and 100% deliver on that front. The Korean songs just showcase their songwriting more, since that's their native language. Appreciate your interest!

Thanks for reacting!💜💜💜 There are behind the scenes of all the BTS MVs which you can watch on their official channel if you are interested. Hopefully answering some of your questions- - The Run MV was a part of an overarching storyline that goes through several of BTS' MVs (called the BTS Universe or BU), so that is one of the reasons why you might find the scenes of that MV somewhat disjointed. They didn't have the budget to make large scale and expensive MVs at the time so they came up with the storyline, to grab viewers' attention and generate a more long term fanbase I believe, with interconnected MVs and also short films. The BU starts with 'I Need You' and 'Blood Sweat and Tears' is also part of it, although BS&T leans more towards the themes of temptation from the Herman Hesse novel Demian. - The phones are real in the Fake Love MV, so is the water, the falling floorboards and the fire (although it was done on a smaller scale and made to appear bigger in post editing). - The Idol MV is a real Trip😂. It was made during a time when some people were accusing BTS of becoming too 'Westernised' so they inserted a whole bunch of Korean references and Dances. They also leaned heavily into the stereotypical image of Kpop being too over the top, colorful and 'green screeny' by western or non-asian audiences. The multiple faces was leaning into people saying there were too many members and such. (This is just a theory so take it with a grain of salt) Fun fact: Idol won best MV award at several award shows. - I think the Butter song and MV was pretty well received by the fans (Hence the 112 million views in 24 hours). We are aware that their Korean songs are not recognised by the Western media as much as the English ones even though they break tons of records with each new release. So we support them as much as we can. Although their korean song 'Life goes on' became the first Korean song to hit #1 on Billboards Hot 100 with virtually no radio play as compared to their English singles. Fun Fact: Butter as well as their song Dynamite was nominated for a Grammy in consecutive years. Some more MV recommendations- Not Today Mic Drop Dope Dynamite Boy with Love Spring Day (It is a gorgeous MV. It was also a tribute for the victims of the Sewol Ferry Tragedy that happened in S. Korea. There is an explanation video by an Italian ARMY if you wish to know the whole context of the MV along with the incident) Daechwita (It is a solo song by the member- Suga aka Agust D. The MV is god tier so I would also like to recommend it) More (J-hope solo song) I don't want this comment to become any longer than it already is so I wont be adding any info about the members or the group. I am pretty sure the other ARMYs would most likely educate you on info about BTS. Ps. Turn on the cc if you would like to understand what they are saying. Apologies for the long comment. Have a nice day and You nice keep going!

Butter usually isn't a fan favorite, but that is not because it is in English or because it is a bad song/MV. One of the biggest reasons people like BTS is their lyricism and storytelling abilities. Their music videos play a huge role in conveying their messages. Butter is a great song with a great music video, but there isn't much to dissect and interpret. In other words, there isn't a big gap between what fans take away from it and what first time viewers like yourself take away from it. It's the exact opposite for a lot of their other music videos; I'll use Blood Sweat & Tears as an example. What you took away from that first watch of Blood Sweat & Tears is probably less than 5% of "the maximum" one could take away from the song/MV. After several watches, you'll start noticing all the small details in the MV that you missed on your first watch. Every scene and every cut from the MV is so packed with symbolism, so with every watch, you will learn more and start piecing things together to interpret and understand the video as a whole. Then maybe you will end up reading Demian by Herman Hesse or some works by Nietzsche. If you have already, you may suddenly remember things from those works that seem to align smoothly with the concepts from this song/MV. You may recognize the quote spoken by RM during the music video's interlude. You may notice the German quote written on the wall. Then you may start listening to other songs on the album Wings. You will be able to make connections between this video and other videos from the album: the MV for Intro: Boy Meets Evil or the Wings Short Films. Maybe these videos will also get you into the BU or Bangtan Universe, a fictional universe that spans across almost their entire career. You'll notice the flower that is shown in the last scene of Blood Sweat & Tears and wonder if it has anything to do with the flower petals in Fake Love and Run. You might go back and rewatch Fake Love and notice a whole bunch of new things that you missed previously. Honestly, I could go on forever. But in the end, the point is that there are so many layers to these songs and music videos. Butter isn't quite like that. There is just so much more to dissect and enjoy in some of the other music videos. If you ever decide to do a deeper dive into their works, I think you'll see what I mean. So yes, I hope that makes sense, and no hate to Butter because it is a great song/MV. And thanks for this great video. I will be waiting for more.

run was during their early career in 2015, when they were struggling a lot financially and couldn't afford an expensive music video, so they recorded in locations in seoul it is also a continuation of the bts universe, which is a *fictional* storyline that goes through a lot of their music videos the bts universe (or BU) starts off before run, with the mv for I need u, which I wish you had also watched, cuz it's one of their best and my favorite from them it is similar to run in budget and in aesthetics, but I need u demanded a lot more acting from the members and it's more emotional driven other videos to check out: I need u, save me, spring day, life goes on (directed by the member jungkook), daechwita (solo song, from agust D), more (solo song from jhope)

The yellow-frame building in DNA is actually the outline you saw in the Fake Love video (what you thought was a green screen rig). That structure is shown repeatedly in other clips and videos that link the two together, and thematically ties in with the concept of happy, perky love versus the dark, enclosed reality of what love can really be like.

In the western sphere, 1st class nations always think that they're at the top of the game. But in actual fact, Korea's MV production easily tops any western country. Korean's live broadcast of music award shows are top tier, unlike western music award shows that only concentrate on showing the audience clapping. BTS & their production team, for instance, take pride in producing top quality MVs. By that, I mean they really make an effort to include meaningful scenes. Not just random high production shoots to wow people, but there are hidden symbolism in most of their mvs. Armys are attracted to BTS lyricism & their sincere work ethics. BTS weren't the best individually when they 1st started out, but have all made tremendous improvements over the years bcoz of their passion in music & dedication in making inspiring music for their fans.

K-pop is an industry just like the western industry. Where do you think they got the idea from? The boy bands in the west were created through levels of auditions and competitions and when the members were picked they went through trainings. The difference is the amount of work K-pop trainees go through because of the added dimension of dancing, fashion, decorum, etc. BTS was formed by a small almost bankrupted company. They knew they couldn’t compete with the privileges the big labels would get such as air time and positive treatment they became creative and decided to start with Utube vlogs prior to their debut. They were transparent and shared their stories of life. Things almost everyone could relate to. Also PD Bang the owner of the label and founder of the group who encouraged the vlogs and writing songs about themselves and experiences was a different from others that he believed in the boys. He didn’t try to control and manipulate them. There were rules to follow as in any workplace as well as the strict standards expected from K-pop netizens. The Hybe label now is the biggest label in Korea, PD Bang is a multi billionaire, BTS brings in billions to the Korean economy every year and at least 25% of tourists in Korea are there because of BTS. BTS members are the very best of human beings. They love army and credit them for their success. They have maintained their humility, positivity and encouragement. They shared their highs and lows. Manufactured? Look at the history of manufacturing boy bands in the America. It goes back more than 50 years. Currently the western world just plainly can’t compete with BTS and K-pop when it comes to boy/girl bands. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea. But if you are opened minded you can’t deny the talents BTS and other K-pop groups. One lasting I want to mention is that I’m 62 years old!

Hi. I liked your video! Answering your question: As BTS fan I do not care what language the song is, they have all kind of music and it serves for different occasions. English songs - Butter, Dynamite and PTD are feel good songs, with no much deep meaning behind them rather then "Lets dance and have fun". They serve the purpose, very fun and groovy. There are more emotional ballads, EDM songs, rap - I appreciate and respect everything they do. To me as a an they can do no wrong and any song has its occasion and mood to listen to. They are well rounded artists who do not really care about a genre or language and will do whatever if they feel like or want to

The 3 rappers are the primary songwriters and producers for the group, they have a heavy hand in the vast bulk of their discography. Their rapper RM has 200 song credits. And some of them did start as independent artists and were selected from auditions - 2 of their rappers were well-known underground rappers and were selected from auditions that were conducted in rap battle format. Their 3rd rapper was a trained hiphop dancer and selected from auditions for his dancing skills, he learned to rap from the other 2 rappers after being signed to the label. After signing to the label, all the members underwent around 3 years of intensive training and practicing, to further hone their skills. And the rappers took up the bulk of the songwriting and producing responsibilities. During this time, they all lived together in 1 room. They continued to live together for many years. That's why they don't have a shallow business relationship, they took the time to create the synergy and bond between them personally. They see each other as family, not business associates. You can watch an great intro vid by the channel Taylor, it's called "A Guide to the BTS Members: The Bangtan 7". It will give you a lot of info and maybe correct a lot of misconceptions that you may have about BTS. Due to the way they are marketed to the western market, there is a lot of misconceptions about BTS in the general public. You should hear their rap songs and hiphop-heavy songs, that is what BTS is known for in the fanbase, but sadly their hiphop work is not promoted in the mainstream. I suggest Born Singer, it's a rap-heavy song of BTS. It's their own rendition of Born Sinner by the rapper J. Cole, they sample the beat. And Hip Hop Lover is their homage to hiphop, they reference a lot of their hiphop inspirations including a lot of old-school ones. You have to be very knowledgeable in American old-school hiphop to catch all their references, so it's a song for hardcore hiphop heads. The 3 rappers also did several rap songs together. Like Outro: Tear. Here's an iconic live performance of it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i3XYkn19jspre7M Also Cyphers #1 - #4 by the 3 rappers, pure rap songs. You can watch lyric vids for each cypher to hear the full songs. In their Cyphers Medley live performance, they shorten the first 3 Cyphers + entire 4th Cypher: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIWcZGOOe5apsKM Each of the 3 rappers also wrote/produced their own solo rap mixtapes. From their mixtapes, I suggest Joke by RM, Agust D by Agust D, Daydream by J-Hope. Their rapper J-Hope also recently released a solo rap album. His songs "Arson" and "More" have music vids. And his song "What If" samples from wutang clan's ODB song Shimmy Ya.

Blood Sweat and Tears was inspired by literature. There is at least one video out there there explains every detail, I think it’s by xceleste.

Many of the videos are connected by the history of the bangtan universe or we also call it BU, each video you see, if in the description it says BU is connected to the others, in the videos there are common elements that represent each member and give clues about what what is happening You should watch them in order, RUN, Fake love and Blood Sweat & Tears were BU videos but if you watch them in order they might make more sense, there are also some non-musical videos that connect with the story and you also need to watch them called Highlight Reel and there are 4, In case you are interested here is a playlist where all the Videos of the Bangtan Universe are in order, Here is the whole story. kzbin.info/aero/PL3RUEMHWIQ9XkD7gqjSC2-2F5XuFCN01E

Hey, I know this is a bit late but I wanted to thank you for reacting to BTS. I know Army's kinda explained everything but just in case no one had told you yet a majority of BTS's MV's don't really use green screen. For example for Fake Love everything was hand built and with no green screen. Even the thing you thought was green screen in the back of the windows for the fire scene in fake love was real. It was just a wall with green lighting and the fire was real as well. The falling floor, the waterfall, even the *"See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil"* sculpture you saw in the beginning of Fake Love was all real. Also, side note in the Cellphone scene of Fake Love if you look behind V their is writing on the wall that says "Save Me" if you flip it upside down it reads "I'm Fine" which are two BTS songs. Im fine is actually Save Me in reverse, so it's a really cool reference you get to pick up the more you watch their MV's. Oh, and BS&T set was also hand built and it also is based off a book. And for Idol everything was intentional including the over use of green screen. Because idol is a diss to their haters and all the stuff in the MV referenced it. From RM's filters in the beginning because in livestream he did, he was playing with filters and people told him not to because he didn't look good. To V wearing glasses because a "fan" told him he doesn't look as handsome with glasses on. To All the Korea referenced because people said they are becoming too westernized and forgot their Korean roots. To the use of a lot of CGI because people said they relied to heavily on CGI (even though they didn't). So BTS always had meaning when it comes to their music. If you want too see how truly in depth BTS music and MV' s truly go I'd recommend reacting to "Spring Day Explained" by Bookish Theories.

Thank you so much for reacting to BTS. Honestly I have quite a few other Kpop videos but so far BTS MV’s are my favorites. I just prefer how they were edited and the storytelling then most other MV’s I have seen through kpop… A little bit if history of BTS that is important to note: 1) is that BTS came from a very small company, that almost went bankrupt at one point. So their MV’s for years where very low budget. Despite them not having much money they are very well done. 2) Their are some MV’s that the lyrics and the story of the MV aren’t telling the same story. 3) BTS has a fictional storyline that runs throughout their MV. So sometimes you will see things that don’t totally make sense unless you know the story 4) BTS’s video are like art. We all can interpret the videos however one would like. Which I think is beautiful and makes them unique. 5) Sometime you have to actually do work to understand. For instance Idol has tons of Korean references that you have to know or learn to understand. Blood, Sweat, and Tears is influenced by the Book Damien (which makes people have to read it). 6) BTS’s albums tell a story. Sometimes the album’s are trilogies, etc. So you have to know the full story… 7) However even if you don’t know any of the things from the other 6, but you actually have to sit their and think about the MV and the symbolism. Unlike western MV’s where the story is very clear and doesn’t take much to understand (usually pretty straight forward). BTS’s MV take time and thought. 8) BTS and their team are all about the art and allowing the audience to interpret the songs and MV’s however one would like…

- The imagery in some of their mvs can be quite confusing because it's part of an on-going, very dark and very intricate storyline but they always use an insane amount of symbolism down to the tiniest details. (Take Idol... It's packed with things they've been critisized for like filters, specifik clothes, being "too white" etc. etc.) The attention to detail means that the further you go down the rabbit hole, the more details and easter eggs you'll be able to pick out. - The ON Kinetic Manifesto is "only" the choreography video btw. The real mv is an entire study in Jungian psychology, biblical imagery and more. - They do use CGI and Green Screen but with BTS a rule of thumb is: If it can be built, they probably did it. - Tip: If you include the intro you don't have to worry about copyright strikes (claims yes, of course, but not strikes). Big Hit considers it a kind of free adverticement. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Hi, thanks for the reaction !! ARMYS has already given you a lot of information, I'll give you some advice. Most of their MVs have a storyline, but some MVs are also double because there is the Japanese version (the way the video is shot also changes) or the Extended version. Usually the MVs are shot in just 3 days (but it depends on the video). If you want to look behind the scenes of MVs you have to turn on CC to understand what they say. Some videos don't have CC because they are old, but you can search for the MV name plus "Bangtan Subs". The Japanese versions have behind scenes but you have to pay to see it ... or maybe you can find it somewhere on youtube if someone uploaded it. I will put below the links for all the MVs you reacted to. RUN: Japanese version: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l2KZmIeEbNCCjbc Shooting sketch: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iF7dl2loe96isJo FAKE LOVE: This MV has 2 versions. Extended version: kzbin.info/www/bejne/epCZgqCCa9d4rs0 Shooting sketch: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gKTSfqiXmtyjkNU IDOL: It is one of the few times that BTS uses a lot of CGI and it is "complicated" for people who are unfamiliar with the history of BTS to understand. Basically it's a response to heaters, so there are a lot of references to Korean culture. If you want an explanatory video you can watch the DKDKTV video. Hi Adam: I agree that BTS was the reason U.S. Artists are making better videos. When I came into BTS, most American artists had women in skimpy clothes, twerking next to a pool, with their magnum of champaign and their grills! I do think BTS' story is different from other KPOP Groups. BTS picked a company, Big Hit was teetering on the edge of bankruptcy. They were dirt poor. Big Hit let their 2 other music groups go, to give BTS a chance and BTS was really BIG HITS last chance. In Korea their 3 music companies which are referred to as the BIG 3. they are Like the Mafia of Music. Back in the day; they controlled the entertainment business in Korea. You didn't get booked unless you were under the umbrella of the Big 3.That met tv shows anything tv related. Yes, BTS was put together by Hit Man Bang but BANG gave BTS Free Reign to create their own music. Other groups grew up with hard and fast rules. If you didn't follow the rules, you were fired. BTS had rules/contract too but BANG was not as strict. He let the boys be creative. BTS was great, even in the very beginning. The music you keep saying you like is the music they wrote and produced. The music written by American Song writers. Butter, Dynamite & Permission to Dance are the songs they came into the United States song market with. This was during Covid and they were looking for happy songs to help ARMY during Covid. I thought they were crazy to come in with POP songs but they called it right because they went to #1 on Billboard with all 3 songs. Also, those songs are so much fun to sing with during a BTS concert. I have so much more to tell you but maybe it would be easier for you to watch a Guide to the members of BTS by Taylor, This is bts by xcelete. Taylors is more up to date. Or even the story of BTS by the Rice Squad. There is even a documentary by Rise of Bangtan. BTS' video director is named Lumpkins.

My intro to BTS was the Black Swan MV in May 2021 when my area was still in lockdown. I fell in love and then dug further and further and I am officially a BTS ARMY since sometime in 2021. I like Butter as well, but it and the other 2 all-English songs aren't representative of typical BTS and were made during the pandemic to help ARMY and others get through it, as well as to break into the Western music industry (I think). Big Hit was bought by Hybe who also owns Ithaca Trading that has artists like Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande under it's label. I think things are changing for BTS now and I believe part of it has to do with that company shift. They are focusing on coming out with solo albums now, but still doing group activities too and have a concert coming up in October in Busan, South Korea but it is being performed as Ambassadors to help win the bid for the 2030 World Expo so that South Korea can host that event. Two of the members were from Busan originally. Personally, I don't really agree with the normal K-Pop way of forming groups. It's not the formation of them that bothers me, but the strict rules and everything they typically go through. Equate it to a very stringent athletic training starting at a really young age...something like that. In the case of BTS, they were permitted to and encouraged to be involved in their own song-writing, composing and producing for most of their songs. The members have stated that they felt like it was Fate that brought these 7 guys together with all different personalities and talents and from all over South Korea. The system there has faults, but so does the Western system(s). Artists are used by big money everywhere, so that is one of the things that ties them all together. Just my opinion. So, I guess as long as the artists are involved in their music making, have talent, are hard-working, and stay humble, it doesn't matter how they got their start. I love BTS but I really don't listen to or watch K-Pop, and I feel BTS has expanded beyond that now even though that's how they got their start.

-BTS Music videos always have hidden meanings and symbolisms. The meanings of their music videos are either connected to the song's lyrics, or has a storyline of its own or both, or connected to their fictional storyline (e.g. the first music video you reacted to is part of the fictional storyline). -The "Idol" music video is packed with references that are connected to the meaning of the song. Nothing in that music video was random. I also thought it was weird and overwhelming when I first watched it. -If you are interested, I recommend videos explaining the music videos you watched by youtube channels like "Bookish Theories", "DKDKTV" and "xCeleste", to find the intention of those MVs.

Idol looks super random. But each and every second of that video has specific meaning. Even the over-the-top crazy effects are on purpose -- it is saying, "Isn't this what you expected of me?" Even the clothing they are wearing ties back to a specific insult they received (either to the item itself -- the glasses that V is wearing and someone said looked ugly on him -- to a concept about themselves -- for instance Suga's Snow White sweater when he was mocked for being too pale.) For a cultural reference, check out the explanation by DKDKTV.

I love watching Filmmakers react to BTS MV's because 99% of the time they think the mv's have VFX or editing, when 98% of the time all the sets are hand made and real Run- okay first Run you might've thought the scenes are random but they are actually not, BTS have a storyline that runs throughout their music videos so if you don't watch them from the beginning it's really confusing, there was no CGI in this video Fake Love- Believe it or not there was absolutely no CGI in Fake Love everything was real and Handmade Idol- Okay so Idol actually did have CGI and special effects but they did a lot of it on purpose, because Idol is a song responding to the haters, there were a lot of Anti's hating on BTS and saying they only used CGI and that they never did things that were real, so BTS purposely put a bunch of CGI in the video to fit the haters narrative, also In Idol there's ALOT of traditional Korean culture in this MV, also the part with the Big version of BTS are based on Attack on Titan and BTS actually have a song called Attack on Bangtan (Bangtan is apart of their name) they even had hanboks on which is Korean traditional clothing, there was also traditional instruments used in this song. Also the lyrics themselves reference to things that are common in Korea. DNA- There was also CGI/Green screen stuff in this video, but all the major sets were all hand-made ON- ON I'm sure you were able to tell had no special effects or CGI, it was literally just filmed outside with an hand-held camera and drones. Butter- The only thing in Butter that was CGI was the airport seen when Suga starts rapping Black Swan- The only thing that was special effects/CGI in here was when Jimin had the wings, that's it though Fire-No CGI in Fire all the explosions were real, and even the guy on fire in the beginning was real... Blood Sweat & Tears- Pretty much 98% of this video was all real and hand made, the only thing that was special effects was (of course when the color of the video started changing) and also at the end when Jin's face cracked. I highly recommend watching all of the behind the scenes videos of these Mv's RUN- kzbin.info/www/bejne/boSWeZeLjJyaeLM Fake Love-kzbin.info/www/bejne/gKTSfqiXmtyjkNU Idol- kzbin.info/www/bejne/gnLHp6JmoLStbqM DNA-kzbin.info/www/bejne/q2G1eISjhNKfh80 ON-kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZnXGZ6d-nL2jbpo Butter: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o4KoeIObnNuhq68 Black Swan: kzbin.info/www/bejne/noKrYn-ndrxofLM Fire: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eovEnXWHnKp2pJY Blood Sweat and Tears- kzbin.info/www/bejne/sGXOlpSaipuEr9k Please make sure to turn CC for all of them so you know what they're saying :)

The Idol platform of K Pop requires considerable investment as Idol music is an amalgam of the auditory and the visual. A considerable amount of training is involved as it is based on motion, facial expression, positioning within group formations and diverse dance skills as well as being able to comfortably rock a variety of costuming, cosmetics, use of props, and interactive skills with audiences. Idols must be trained to be competitive in a competitive market. So no K Pop is not put on my jeans and t-shirt, find some common interest fellows each with relatively singular skills. Members like athletes must go through extensive training often over more than 2 years essentially honing their qualifications to be major league players. Much like in American baseball, many potential careers which are tested in the Minors wind up fizzling. So short answer, one big factor which makes K Pop fascinating to those willing to explore is the complexity of the professionalism put on display. The intricate music videos of BTS with many seemingly random things to outsiders actually all are communications of meaning and intentional mentioning. Even the imagery in Idol which can seem like a visual overload actually has meaning attached to each image.

Of all the music videos you could have started with you had to jump into the BU? The Bangtan Universe is an ongoing storyline that runs through several BTS music videos as well as being connected by short films, webtoons, and short stories. It is a non sequential storyline because it involves time travel, so some things that happened later actually happened earlier, and certain scenes are visited again but may have different outcomes, if that makes sense. 90% of BTS music videos are full of metaphors and symbolism that references, literature, history, and recent events. Which is why most BTS music videos have 3rd party explanation videos, where highly educated people explain all the symbolism to regular people like me. My two favorite explanation KZbin channels are Bookish theories, and DKDK TV, although Asian theories and Xceleste also have some good explanation videos. And anybody will tell you that you have to watch the Italian ARMY explanation video for their video of Spring Day, which has deep political meaning.

Yes, each aspect of the music video has meaning, but the way it was jam-packed together was the intention. Ofc, the reason for the colorful and crazy editing styles is in the lyrics and in the overall meaning of the song. So id just like to say that your reaction was fun to watch!! Dont worry too much about giving comments, coz majority of armys are fine with good or bad opinions as long as they are respectful. If you see hate comments, thats probably just the few bad apples in the fandom. Dont let them stop you from being honest tho! :) Btw, Black Swan is DEFINETELY a fan favourite, idk why that comment said ppl didnt like it lmao. The overall consensus is that the song is a masterpiece of songwriting and production as well as visually very beautiful

Sorry but whooa they are not weird ideas. Would do you good if you will watch the explanation for Idol especially since there are a lot of cultural references attached to it. DKDKTV does a good explanation since they are Koreans.

The choreography is ALWAYS GREAT from their very first introduction performance trailer. I understand you are a cinematographer and not a dancer, if you think the choreography is sub par in Fire in contrast to DNA. Also, if you get Romeo and Juliet vibes from Blood Sweat and Tears, whose book did you read certainly not William Shakespeare. Those visuals clearly had nothing to do with Romeo and Juliet, but those are your vibes. I respect them. The fire is real in the videos. They build most of their sets. Nothing is random. Everything is carefully thought out. It’s random to you because you have jumped in the middle without any context and attempted to make Intelligent comments, but well you did your best I guess. I am sure fellow Army will give you more details, I no longer do that for toe dippers. We understand that each English song has purpose. The choreography is toned down, so listeners can sing and dance to the songs. They are Covid relief songs. English so more people can sing along. Designed to make us feel good during a trying time. We prefer their Korean/English songs because they can convey the messages that are more meaningful and give food for thought.

I indeed don't really like the English songs that much, but because they have less involvement from the members and are more directed at the general public than their Korean songs, which are usually personally written by them they are like a summer banger, you know, just something to have fun too, so the lyrics also don't have the heavy (in meaning) messages that bts usually has on their other songs, and considering that their message is a huge factor that attracts fans to them, the English songs are not the most beloved by the fandom, although we enjoy them they are also more bubble gum pop than their other 'lesser known' songs it's not because it's in English tho, it's just these aspects they have other songs in English, which I love, that aren't singles, and are less known and more personal

I feel like the narratives are pretty obvious tbh 🤷‍♀️. Your reaction was ok, though maybe not as insightful as I was hoping for and a bit simplistic. There are quite a few filmmakers who have reacted to BTS music videos. They tend to discuss some of the techniques used, and sometimes explain why certain things were likely done. I’ve seen 3 filmmakers discuss the themes they’ve seen present, which can be very interesting as well. Yours was mostly ‘that’s interesting.’ Which is ok too but I’d say the point of reacting as a filmmaker is to use your experience to make comments maybe.

Both videos for ON are considered official music videos. Bighit even said so after its release that it was a music video. But yes the other mv for ON is really good too, very underrated in my opinion.

Did you really just skip through all these videos without even listening to the music or reading the subtitles? This reaction seemed superficial at best and insulting at worst. Perhaps as a filmmaker all you react to is sets, lighting and camera work. BTS is so much more than that. It would be more respectful to at least go through one video at a time and try to experience it on multiple levels.
