I see a lot of recommendations but not a lot of explaining xD. The first video. You meet widowmaker (the sniper) she was married to a Overwatch agent. She was captured by a evil organization called Talon and tortured till she became a sleeper agent. Later after she was rescued by Overwatch, she murdered her husband and then escaped back to Talon to become one of there best assassins. I think you know of Tracer (time control girl) but her back story is that she was originally a pilot. She was piloting a experimental plane that was suppose to do what she can do now but it malfunction and she was diagnosed Chronal Disassociation. She was basically a ghost, she would phase out of existent and phase back in. Later her friend a Scientist (the mention him in the second video the "monkey") made her the machine that you see that she wares on her. It basically stabilize her and make her able to control her own time as you can see. The second video you can see but they have a background together . You meet Jessy McCree. He was basically was part of a gang called the Deadlock gang. He later got into a fight with a overwatch agent and he was offered a spot in overwatch's Black ops group and joined them. Ashe is now the current leader of the Deadlock gang. This is mostly basic info as i know of tracer and widowmaker than i do Jessy and Ashe but i hope this explain a bit more. Keep up the awesome work and my recommendation is like most of the commets - Dragons, The first trailer. Rise & shine (mostly to introduce the character there) and when you finished with them Overwatch 2 Trailer

I know I'm a bit late to the party but he coming at this a film maker and not as a player. So this means he is missing A SHIT TON of hidden jokes and references that a true fan a player would have. To be honest I like that part. It means he has not much invested knowing the characters and will judge it on just the cinematography. I hope once he seen them all he reads the comics, plays a bit then rewatches to see what he can pick up that he missed before.
@zachblair37944 жыл бұрын
I never got Tracer’s chronal accelerator. Like does she need to constantly be wearing it? Cuz that’s not what the comics show (see the Christmas one and the most recent Tracer comic where she just casually takes it off and hangs it as if it were a rain coat)
@SoMeanZombie4 жыл бұрын
@@zachblair3794 Actually if you look at the charismas comic you will see the chronal accelerator in a machine that is explained basically making a bubble in her apartment that she can move around normally in. Regarding the other Overwatch cinematics, they are: "Dragons", "Infiltration", "The Last Bastion", "Honor and Glory", "Hero", "Rise and Shine", "Recall" and "Shooting Star" (and the Announce Trailer) "The Last Bastion" as well as "Rise and Shine" are more atmospheric, the rest is more action driven. My overall favorite is "Dragons", "The Last Bastion" is a close second, but "Honor and Glory" and "Infiltration" are also very nice. Most characters from the cinematics reappear in "Zero Hour" (which is pretty sick by the way), the announcement trailer for Overwatch 2. Which is why this one is best to watch after the rest of them.

27:30 this is a visual effect called "chromatic aberration" in which the waves of light refracting through glass elements pass at slightly different angles and inhibit perfect focus on a subject, most often resulting in cyan/magenta/yellow "edges" on the subject in focus, or in layman's terms, "color fringing". Usually, the more expensive the optic - the better the quality of the glass - the less CA are present, with APO (Apo-chromatic) lenses essentially being aberration free, but uber expensive! It's very cool how they even simulated this effect in an animation! Leads me to believe Widowmaker's scope isn't of the "highest" quality though lol. Fringing quite badly!

I really love your analysis of each short. I'm not a filmmaker, but I'm a writer, so I analyze things from the story and lore points (yay humanities degree haha). What's really interesting is seeing how they use the filmmaking aspects to solidify lore and character aspects, and in this case, game mechanics. In each short, the characters use their in-game abilities; such as Widowmaker with her poison mine, Tracer with her recall (traveling back in time) and teleport abilities, and McCree's flashbang grenades. The comedic effect in Reunion is even better when you understand the abilities. Ashe and McCree's Ultimates (most powerful moves that you have to take time to build up) are used in the short--Ashe actually does shout "B.O.B.! Do somethin'!" and send him out onto the field to shoot at the opposing team. With McCree, a tumbleweed ACTUALLY TUMBLES BY IN GAME, and his Ult line is "It's High Noon," which makes the clock ticking in the short all the more funny--he actually shoots aT HIGH NOON. Honestly, the Blizzard cinematic team is one of the best out there. I'm super excited to watch your other reacts to Overwatch shorts. May I suggest, also, before you watch the most recent trailer for Overwatch 2 ("Zero Hour"), you also watch the cinematics for the in-game story modes they had--Uprising, Retribution, and Storm Rising. These take place, timeline wise, before these shorts, and will help you understand more about the lore and characters that lead into Overwatch 2.
@Karmond4 жыл бұрын
"Dragons" is the best Overwatch short. "The Last Bastion" is also pretty good, but it's pretty different, more like a silent film. Another one that's alright is “Honor and Glory” but it's far more cliché.

no lie i was about to click out when i saw that you're just straight up watching the cinematics.. but i had faith and waited a bit, and finally got to the breakdown part. and it just excites me how you break every little thing down one at a time. how the orange and red contrasts the blue, how you mention the 180 rule (which i didn't understand at first but now i do thanks to you), how the mood differs in each area according to the color scheme used. in the 'alive' cinematic, when widowmaker, the assassin, slowly grapples down the side of the building, and how you said the camera work would be difficult irl, but since this is animated, it is possible. it made me appreciates the cinematic even more. my love for overwatch, and the little knowledge i have on animations, movie making, and the stuff alike, made me enjoy every moment of you blabbering, a lot more.. and i am glad to have stumble upon this video edit: the cinematic 'dragons' and 'zero hour' is really cool imo

She was a test pilot until a mishap with an experimental teleporting (accidentally time-traveling) jet afflicted her with "Chronal Disassociation." I think another thing to add on the section when "the robot" got shot, would be that the scene creates this stretch in time with the fade out of the camera and the "Nooo" being faded as if it would be far away to create a very tragic moment and the feeling of "it was that bad, the time of 1 second felt like hours". Really like the way you analyze the videos and try to tell more and more how things are made and intended by the creators. Keep up the good work!

Thanks again. I love your energy and enthusiasm. You really let us see your reactions in the moment and it's great. I learned the 180 rule by watching this video, thank you. That is really cool. When it comes to overwatch, they recently made a short called Zero Hour that re-incorporates several characters. Alive introduces Tracer and Black Widow. Reunion introduced Ashe, but also featured Mcree and teased Echo (the white robot). A few others that eventually help lead into Zero Hour are: Recall (features Winston) Are You With Us (sets up the reunion that happens in Zero Hour) Honor and Glory (features Reinhardt and Brigitte) Dragons (features Genji) and Rise and Shine (features Mei) All of that is lot to cover, but you may want to view them just to fill in some of the characters for yourself. Stay creative and thank you - video isn't my creative medium (right now), but your energy is infectious and helps motivate me to keep making things. Alan

The Age Rating is not for the Cinematic, it’s for the game, it has characters drinking alcohol I believe

The next episode should be honor and glory for sure. Its probably the best one and tells a very good story.
