The soundtrack here is Ren's. He's been directing and editing his videos for years, also does color grading. He said working with a full production crew on this is a step towards doing the project he wants to submit to Netflix.

Ren is more than simply a musician. He's a creative force. And a social commentator. You can tell 1984 is a big influence on him. He isn't just making music. He's generating a movement. Influencing minds. And at the same time, marketing in very clever ways.

I just dont get the correlation between this and merch drop.i am not into science fiction period, and I work 40 hrs a week days mon thru Friday so when I got home e 5 hrs later I just avoided the merch drops and crashing and high priced products I'd never afford nor want. To each their own. Happy for Ren to hone his craft and upscale his Income for his talent.

He has always said the Directing/Producing is something he wants to do. Given the recent health issues, in the Twitch stream he said that touring is not something he can do right now even though he loves it, but creating all these videos, concepts is his way to give his fans something back. All of this was filmed I believe back in May in Canada, before the health crash, but seeing this all come out now has to be a big boost for him!

Ren wrote, directed and edited this... as he usually does and of course the score is his, as is the audio production. It was created for the launch of his "Sick Boi" clothing line but, being Ren, he's giving us a lot more than just an advert. Instead he's giving us a multiple part, dystopian, sci-fi story, of which this is part one! Part 2 is ready to go but he hasn't been able to film the rest, due to his health. He's written and storyboarded everything and created the music. He's waiting on his health, in order to film the rest. :)

Since you were offering your thoughts on the storyline, I'll add mine. Brigita's character is listed as Pandora in the credits under the video... Pandora is Prometheus' wife in the myth. Ren could be combining Pandora (... as this episode ended, she was being confined in a room/cell one might describe as a box... ) and Prometheus into the one character we met in this episode... or it could be that we meet Prometheus in a later episode. Worth mentioning that in the music video for Slaughter House there are those scenes where people seem to be gravitating towards labeling as Ren as Jesus, where he's bare-torsoed, wearing a crown of thorns, and chained to the floor writhing in pain. But it's even more on the nose as Prometheus, whose punishment for giving humanity fire against Zeus' will was to be chained to a mountain where every day, a raven would eat his liver from his body and every night it would grow back. And in this promo film, we now see the Dominion in the same spike-crowns Ren was wearing in those scenes in the music video. My guess is that whether Ren plays Prometheus or not, there'll be a young Dominion man who, when he finds out about the eugenics and slavery being perpetrated in the underground farms (& potentially that the person who was found with immunity - Pandora - is being held/used as a lab rat to generate a cure for the pandemic) he'll betray the Dominion, rescue Pandora/help her escape & free all the slaves, and then release the cure to all of humanity. TBD: whether Prometheus of 2084 is caught before The Dominion can be pulled from power by the ensuing revolution, and whether he faces an analogous punishment at the hands of The Dominion (and what that would be)...

There wasn't a similar ethereal voice in Hi Ren. That was just Ren and a guitar. He has sung in such a voice before. "Heretic" springs to mind but I'm sure there are other examples. I'm pretty sure the voice here was Kit, who also had a short feature in Slaughter House. Ren met her while undergoing treatment in Canada. Kit was undergoing cancer treatment at the same time.

Just a guess, but I think the haunting vocal is Kit, who was featured in Slaughterhouse. She is the voice narrating this and the opening of Money Games. Ren has said this project started as a promo for his Sick Boi clothing line launching, but he quickly got obsessed with it and now the clothing is almost secondary (though they worked their ass off on it). Each episode - I think he said there will be 5 - comes with another launch of items in the clothing line. They're all limited run, high end fashion, ethically sourced one time releases that they've spent 1.5years getting it to be exactly how they wanted it. This is also his directorial debut. He eventually wants to do a Netflix series and he and Samuel Perry-Falvey already have a few episodes they've been working on.

I spoke to a friend about this last night and he recommended I watched 'Archive' , he felt it had the vibes of that. It's bleak but I can kinda sorta see where he's coming from. It's not the same by any stretch but there is a parallel. Both very dystopian. Its not the first of it's kind but if this has more to come, I'm very interested what HIS take on the subject is.

@@laugace maybe because it's a book? 😂 very analogue tech. a good bunch of reactors also didn't get the Animal Farm reference on Animal Flow -- or maybe heard of the title but didn't know the story line. Ren's too well educated/interested in pop culture & literature + mythology -- most of his generation and younger sadly are not.

the concept and delivery of this are amazing but I utterly dislike how Kit's voice is mixed: over saturated, overall distracting and unpleasant. If this was intentional I can't see the reason why her voice had to sound so bad as it adds nothing -- maybe it was just mastered on bad/unfamiliar gear.

The quality of this film disguises the fact that it is a promotional video for Rens new merchandise .Ren overachieving again . Its incredibly creative,and obviously with a political point but don't overlook the leisure wear that is worn by everyone in the film because that is Rens new enterprise. He is hoping to finance both his music and health from the sale of Sick Boi high quality clothing .
