Comment 3 x cencored Including a list of films, some with comments on Wikipedia and a few lines of my own, later supplemented by three series, translated with Google Translate. C. Nolan used FOR THE FILM, apparently a real airplane. A small ironic comment like: ....unlike 9.11, I bit back my fingers so that templates and PC technology would remain.... but that would be a conspiracy theory.... (It's just a Unified opinion allowed. That of the powerful, politicians, MSM, whether for this or the vaccine serums ect.) let alone conclusive evidence.... It's not possible. Something to bring :P so now just mention 2 things Movie: Original: The Lazarus Protocol In german: HARODIM - Nichts als die Wahrheit (Austria 2012) Very interesting action (Content, it's about the 9 . 11 in NY, but not what you would expect and not quite mainstream, the film only ran in the cinema, not on TV and the financing was extremely difficult, so finding financiers for the film, there are also some documentary clips) The Series: XIII: The Series (2011) Season 2 The GB Series: Utopia (not the US remake)

This is one of those movies where Nolan stuck to the concept so fucking hard that it genuinely melts your brain trying to follow why and how things are working. For example, theres a 3d breakdown of the stalsk-12 battle on youtube and you can tell just how much effort was put into making sure that they were following their own rules for this movie. Basically, the more you try to understand how it works the more complex it gets but also thats why its so fascinating.

My favourite mind blowing moment is that during the last battle scene there are 4 Neil's existing at the same time. There is the one who is going to reverse his entropy to save the Protagonist and Ives; there is the one with normal entropy; one is driving a truck to save Ives and the Protagonist; and then there’s the one who’s already done that, and reversed his entropy again and who is now going to open the door that will be blocking Ives and the Protagonist’s way. The final Neil is in the opera house at the start of the film which takes place during the exact same time as the last battle wearing the same red ribbon. Mind blowing! If you want to go deeper, some people think the young son of the women is actually Neil too as a child before he grows up and inverts several times as an adult so that's 5 Neil's! 🤯

One of my favorite aspects is how there is so much implied additional story and worldbuilding that isn't depicted directly. You could easily do two or three more movies where the protagonist gets older, builds the agency, recruits and trains younger Neil, goes on more ops together, etc. Additionally, there is a ton of evidence that Neil is the woman's kid, after he grows up (Pattinson dyed his hair and speaks in a slightly more posh accent to match the look of the kid and the accent of the mother, and "Neil" could be the reverse of the last four letters of a less common spelling of Maximilien). Additionally, Michael Caine's character and Ives (bearded soldier, playing up a cockney accent like Caine's) might be the same person. Which would imply that all of these agents are just going back and forth in time all within this period of a few months. Which means all of the espionage and ops going down are just layers upon layers of the bad guys trying to change these series of event over and over and the good guys stopping them over and over. While I doubt Nolan will actually do some sequels (prequels? pre-sequels?!), out of all of his original movies, this is the one I'd love to see more of. John David Washington in a time inverting James Bond franchise needs to happen. Title might be weird though. What do you call it? 2Tenet2? Anyway, keep up the great stuff James. You're one of my favorite go to channels for a couple of years now. Love re-watching movies with you.

I think Nolan did a lot of subtle things with this movie that addressed some old criticisms. His movies have often been said to minimize female characters to serving the male characters and in this movie I think he flipped that whole narrative giving Kat a complete and full, complex arc while literally leaving the male lead nameless as simply "the protagonist." I think this was intentional.

I watched this in theaters on release weekend. I'm glad Christopher Nolan insisted on a theatrical release despite the shutdowns. David Washington was great in this. He brings so much physicality while still being suave. (Very James Bondish). He does a lot of his own stuntwork and fight coreography, including learning how to fight backwards. There's some crazy BTS videos out there. This is a Nolan original. I'm pretty sure he writes all his movies. I think he was thinking about this concept since Memento. The dude is kinda crazy, including crashing a real plane into a real building. This movie is great on rewatches. Lots of theories going around, including (my favorite) Neil being the kid.

I don't understand why this one was hated on. I liked it even more than Memento (another Chris Nolan Time thriller) Just because you don't understand doesn't mean you can't enjoy and appreciate. The cinematography and colorgrading alone made my spine tingle but the soundtrack and practical stunts and action set pieces really made me not think about the INVERSION too much and just enjoy the film forwhat it is. (I had to watch the movie 3 times and multiple KZbin explanation vids to comprehend Tenet) once you finally get whats going on around the 3rd watch, it feels like the most satisfying math problem in the world and watching the movie in that light really makes you realize how crazy genius the script writers were(or they were probably on crack)

If you want a reason, the second half or arc of the movie is so obviously impacted by the Covid pandemic, the quality just drops tremendously. The temporal pincer scenes are not only incoherent narratively, but the buildings/ruins look straight out of a B-movie. Unpopular opinion - movie is just average, not good not bad. But definitely not a hit. The "inverted time" mechanics destroy itself right from a start of movie, and as more it goes the more illogical everything became. The idea behind "inverted time" was great but realisation of it failed. For example a car chase scene - main hero jumps into a "inverted" car, then stop it on middle of highway. So if we inverted time what would we see? That a car was staying, then by itself on middle of highway start moving without a driver, and moved alone until our hero jump on it?.. Ehh the more examples we take the more ridiculous it will be. The main actor is awful. He's character is dull and useless and actor not showing any emotions. The minor character of Pattison is much more live and actually do something in a movie, also Pattison did a much better performance showing much more emotions. And last are CGI and special effects. Nothing incredible, everything is pretty common for 2020 Hollywood blockbuster. What is great in this movie - the stunts the music and camera work. Music perfectly hits moments, all stunts are well made, and camera work actually outstanding! But that's all. Besides the hype and false praise from people who didn't understand how hard "inverted time" failed so they believed that it was brilliant - the best rating for the film is 5/10

Theory I heard about this film is that Kat's son is actually Niel who The Protagonist trains from a young age to travel back and save his life. Something about the last four letters of Maxamillien spells Neil (kind of a reach I know), but it is an interesting concept to play with when watching the movie. Explains some of why Niel would know so much ahead of time and why his scenes with Kat seem sorta more heart felt

I had a real problem with this film, and since it's spoilers I'll write it below. It's been a while since I saw this, and my memory is hazy, but this is what I didn't like about the plot: This dude literally took cyanide for his country, so he clearly is dedicated 1000% to whatever mission he's sent in to. Then he's assigned to a mission where the entire world is at stake, he starts to fumble with some random woman? There was moments where he clearly fucked up by deciding that this random-ass lady is more important than THE WORLD??? Fuck that, what an idiot. The movie could've instead focused on the two dudes and their relationship and teamwork. Hell, make it gay even I don't care. The movie got good right at the end with the whole who recruited who twist and they could've easily make that the focus of the story. Make it a buddy cop movie in a sense. I felt like "awwww this would've been a much better plot than saving that bitch" (I was frustrated by the woman at that point).

One of my favorite aspects of this movie is how often the protagonists are moving against the flow of the scene even when they aren’t inverted. Since most people know how a Bond plot works, there's more mental bandwidth to track the scifi element. Also: when he first meets Elizabeth Debicki, he's wearing the same type of suit as Bond in Goldfinger.

I have no qualms admitting that I had ZERO idea what was going on during this movie. I couldn't follow the action sequences or the plot and the audio mixing was atrocious. I was either straining to hear characters speak or being deafened. I'm not a huge of overly complex plots because i feel like movies which are overly focussed on being clever or wrongfooting the audience often sacrifice character development. That's exactly what happened here. If I don't care about the characters, it doesnt work for me regardless of the intricate storylines.

Glad you enjoyed it, but this was not for me. I love all the other Christopher Nolan movies (haven't seen Following, though), but Tenet was a solid dud. A story that does make zero sense, a terrible audio mix and the characters were uninteresting as hell (except for Kat). It's a real shame, because the premise, the cinematography, the action, the practical effects, the editing and the cast were great. John David Washington did the best he could with the material but he couldn't save Tenet. 5/10 for the effort of trying to make a good movie and some very cool ideas that ultimately failed to stick the landing. P.S.: watch Ryan George's Pitch Meeting for this movie. It's hilarious! :D kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmOWi3iBpqx7sNU

Someone made a video essay on YT about Tenet and in it he suggests that Nolan is so accomplished as a director he sets a challenge for himself by doing what you are not supposed to do. In the case of Tenet that would be creating a main character without intrinsic motivation or story arch. We only know about him through what he does in the story and he is such a blank slate he doesn't even have a name but is simply credited as The Protagonist. It's an interesting take.

Tenet is one of my favorite movies. That is why I regularly check whether anyone has recorded their reaction to this film. It cannot be denied that Tenet is a rather heavy film and it is good to watch it several times to catch all the details. Moreover, I watched Tenet in IMAX and it was an audiovisual masterpiece. I liked your reaction very much. I'd love to see Your reaction to my favorite movie, Alita: Battle Angel, by James Cameron and directed by Robert Rodriguez.

Oh.. *MAN* .. first time I watched this blu-ray (well, had to watch it twice, 'cause mindblow), I *thought* the plane was a model too. Then watched the extras/effects video. NOPE. They got a full-sized jet and crashed that shit. (And had ALL their cameras filming every angle, hahahaha..) AND I think they filmed it going "the other/backwards" way in time too 'cause they needed those shots. Like, Washington and Pattinson were commenting on how they needed to film the same scenes 4 times, 2 for each direction in time. And the effect is _wild_, because no matter which direction you watch it, it feels like the other combatant was filmed going forward and they reversed the video.

Crazy fact is that it cost less money to buy an actual plane and run it into a building than to use CGI effects
@javix2013

The plane is real, not a replica, the production found out how much it cost to do the CGI of a scene like this, and it was cheaper to buy a used plane, already out of service and film the scene for real.

I honestly thought this movie was mediocre. It felt like I was invited over to the really intense kid's house to play with him, but "play" was just sitting there and watching him set up all his action figures in some elaborate fiction in his head while listening to him try to explain it in sentence fragments while also not really paying attention to me. It was a kind of interesting premise that got populated with characters that are almost 100% ciphers which means I barely had any reason to care about what was happening. For me, Tenet is not all that engaging because it's almost 100% *what* and almost 0% *why*. It's hard to care about the labyrinthine mechanics of the plot when I feel like I haven't been given a good reason to. A lot of the stuff in the movie was visually very cool but I'm not sure I've ever been less invested in a Nolan plot than this one. The movie almost seems to exist only to explore the mechanics of its premise, which is fun in short bursts but makes for a tiresome feature film. Then, as is too often part for the course with Nolan, he tries to end it on an emotional climax between the two male leads that just lands with a dull thud because the movie spent zero time actually developing that relationship. I feel more and more confident with each passing year that Nolan is a robot or human analog of some kind that makes movies in a vain attempt to understand what feelings are.

A lot of complaints about this is that it’s a little soulless and almost too Nolan-y, and I did feel that a bit on my first watch (I still enjoyed it, but not on the level of Nolan’s other works). But once I rewatched it knowing everything, I was surprised just how much more I enjoyed it. I didn’t try to understand it-I felt it ;) A highly underrated and overhated movie

While this isn't in my top 5 Nolan Films, I appreciated so much the ambition he had in making this film and there are so many great moments of cinema in this. Ludwig's score is also fantastic in this! I agree the pacing is done really well and made it a really fun ride both times I saw it. I have a feeling it will be one of those films that is looked back on better as time goes by

An' yeah, the performances're crazy good. Didn't realize 'til like 3/4 of the way through that was Kenneth Branagh as the villain. And he just perfectly exudes that monstrous villainy, not even just psychopathic but bordering on inhuman. You eventually realize what he's threatening to do, and what you see of his character up to that point makes you completely believe he'd do it too.

Glad to see you enjoyed Tenet! I'm not super well versed in Christopher Nolan films, but I found this movie utterly captivating and wild to watch. I don't care how insane and unrealistic the hypothetical science is - it resulted in some bonkers-looking cinema, I was thoroughly entertained, and the concepts are really interesting! My mind boggles trying to think of how a Tenet video game would work.

Since you asked...The boats they are racing are catamarans (I think, I'm not a boat guy) using hydrofoils. A hydrofoil is basically an underwater wing. It provides lift to the boat to lift the hull out of the water to reduce drag. So what you can't see is a large underwater wing lifting up the boat.

I've watched this movie 5 times so far, the small details they don't explain are even more insane when whats already in the film: The palindrome music, the Tenet Square being the focal point...Opera/Arepo, Sator/Rotas and Tenet being in the middle of that all palindromes. This film easily became my number 1 all time after the 3rd watch, my mind was being blown away when I started to look at the fine details a little more.

I love this film. Correction: I wanna love this film, but honestly it's confusing as hell. I watched it 3 times and I still don't get it. The problem probably arises from translating the concept of the film into a cohesive dialogue/film vision that is understandable by the audience. Other than that, the soundtrack and visuals are insane.

This is the highest of high-level concepts with Christopher Nolan and his technical ability behind the wheel. Combined with a grade A cast who gave stellar performances and you have one of the greatest sci-fi movies ever made. It was unfortunate that it came out during covid. I did watch it at home with surround sound but would have loved to have seen it on the big screen.

When John David Washington aka JD ... When He Said That I was like Lmao 🤣🤣🤣💯 the way he said that landed the plane his delivery is on point what you make the character so cool (The Protagonist personality traits).. Also JD Is The Son Of Denzel Washington... You can tell that's His Son .. Denzel Acting ability Transfer to JD... He sounded just like his Father with the mannerisms , The Walk , The Talk🗣️ but he look like his Mother tho... Also Another a Great quote when The Protagonist said back to Sator ..."No Balls in My Throat". Sator Respond back with his heavy Russian accent "There Be No Time For Such Things" again Lmao 😂😂😂

I might be alone in this view because i havent seen it mentioned anywhere else but i think they went to far with the SATOR square. I can understand the palindrome use with TENET because time flowing forward and backward in film. But incorporating the other elements of SATOR square like AREPO who isnt even seen in the film and OPERA which never happens in film (its an orchestral performance at beginning of film) just breaks down the fourth wall between cinema and audience. A clever film just being too clever.

I don't know why the soundtrack was not nominated. But it was Covid, and maybe the voters of the Academy didn't watch half the movies in 2020. But he did win for Black Panther in 2019. I thought John David Washington might make a good Black Panther, but he is only 5' 9". An old 747 jet was used for the scene. I assume they paid to have it fixed. Internet says Kenneth Branagh is 5' 10" If I was ridiculously rich, I would not keep a woman prisoner that hated me. I would just hire naked women and live on an island. This guy has issues.
