Trust me, I can prob terrorize my kids with a fucking spoon if I wanted to and if I had kids. Wacking a kid with a ruler is more scary than a stick cuz the pain will come in more slowly. A rolling pin for rolling dough will just kill nerves with thick heavy whaps but a dog beating stick martial art , a hit from a staff def hurts. Also the hand is pretty hurtful too. The death rate by personal belongings/objects, defined by hands/fist/feet/knee/etc, is 3-5 times higher than death number and death rate by guns. And that's including the suicide numbers that really shouldn't be counted as far as counting crimes go.

Fun fact: The actor who play Ip Man, Donnie Yen is once get into a street fight with some gangster in real life and really fought 10 guys at one times which inspired the scriptwriter to write this into the movie. That's how they get to do that "I want fight 10 person" scene. But of course back then Donnie Yen ain't using the Wing Chun style because he learn Wing Chun just before they plan to shoot this movie, but Donnie Yen did learn traditional martial arts since he was 8, then got himself black and purple belt from Judo and Brazillian Jiu-jitsu, he also explore MMA when he is in USA from 2000 to 2003, so you can kind of imagine how's that fight go. Yes. He was slightly glorified as an antagonist. One might say that he was not among the antagonists for this movie as he was only looking for "glory" in fights. Even though Bruce Lee did attend Ip Man's classes. He wasn't really trained by him personally as the Grandmaster doesn't trained newly beginning students and it is the senior students job to train them. So he was mostly taught by one of Ip Man's top students, Wong Sheung Leung. Yet, never completed his training above most of basics. Though his system of Jeet Kun Do would implement Boxing, Western Fencing and basic Wing Chun.

My dad was a student at Ip Man's school in Kowloon at the same time as Bruce Lee, back when they were both teenagers. So yes, Ip Man was a real person, and all the techniques Donnie Yen uses are real wing chun - I learned wing chun for 4 years, things like tan sao blocks, kicks and chain punches like the ones Yen uses are the exact same things that I learned :) Pretty much every modern wing chun school can trace its lineage back to Ip Man, his students and their students, so effectively all wing chun today was created by Ip Man's teachings.

He learned whin chung from ip man but he notice there was some offensive flaws so he only took in the principle of defensive from ip man and bruce lee created grappling and some hand bar take down used in today mma. @seraphinaaizen6278

Bruce Lee did notcreate ANY of the techniques he used. His contribution was making the concept of cross-training in multiple styles mainstream (although other people were already in the process of doing so). "A lot of mma fighters said bruce lee if he was alive today would do really well in mma cause he made some mma moves well known back in his time." Bruce Lee wouldn't have a prayer against the pro fighters of his own era, let alone a modern pro. He wasn't a fighter, he was an actor with a bad back. The only way he could have done well in MMA is if he had quit acting and trained to actually be a fighter full time. There's a lot of hero worship around Bruce Lee which enormously distorts and exaggerates people's impression of him.

yooo this is around the time the massacre of banking happened. as a suggestion for movies that just feel like an art piece, I'd suggest The Fall starring Lee Pace. it has some of the best transitions I've ever seen and it was filmed in like 20 plus countries. as an allegory for depression due to an injury it really hits home.

One noticeable difference of karate and kung fu (in this case, wing-chun) is that karate you’re facing your opponent, direct forward and back movements. Kung fu is circular, the stances are different, as of course, the methodology of the fighting. Ip Man (aka Yip Man) created wing Chun. - BG

13:03 Even though the cop chief had such a position having to watch his countrymen get killed not being able to do anything, looked as a traitor he basically had to risk his life being an interpreter between both because he was the only one who could since he had the qualifications. Someone had to do the job in order to communicate with them.

Dude in the video is like a black sammo hung hahahaha. Regardless, thank you for appreciating asian kung fu movies. Really love it that you guys remain humble and just admire the art. Tbh the ip man series are a lil exaggerated with regards to kung fu, but have a very sentimental essence to it. I especially love the third one, where it's nothing more than wing chun vs another form of wing chun, with s little bit of tragedy. Once again, thank you for this. Peace.

8:30 the tiger like style of gong fu he uses and his aggression, is to portray him as a northerner. There are also northern and southern stereotypes chinese people have about each other. Northerners are like the huns or barbarians. Southerners are civilized/cultured in comparison by stereotype. The south also has more wet climate and best for farming. Southern people talk with their poisonous viper tongues Northern people talk with their fists Or so the stereotype goes

@2:37 They were fighting its a test of techniques and skill rather than power. its a friendly spar intend on teaching and learning from others rather than to injure and offend. Reason why polite and the other person can leave amicably without losing face, reason the spar took place behind closed doors.

“13 Assassins” Takeshi Miike , Directing It’s - MIIKE, so it’s utterly amazing. However, The best Samurai movie of all time is “The 47 Ronin” 1941- YES- 1941.. B&W From THEN, Imperial Japan It’s available on KZbin Premium Enjoy that with amazement.
