Rolling cases for tripods and stands are INVALUABLE!! They're such a huge help!

I fiddled around with cheap wireless mics for years and wasted my time. The TASCAM DR-10L’s are the most useful upgrade I’ve ever done aside from a camera body upgrade! Two recording levels and no wireless interference means I’m never worried about something going wrong now.
@WaywardNorth10 ай бұрын
I did the same and so thankful for Tascam!

Great material! I have one comment. You highly recommend the SmallRig wooden handle, but in the shots attached to the film you don't use it at all, you can see that your left hand lands on the lens... I wonder how helpful this gadget is, because maybe it's more of a hindrance than a help? Regards and keep it up!
@WaywardNorth8 ай бұрын
Thanks for reaching out! So it all depends on the lens I am using, I think in the shots you are referring to, I am using the Sigma 24-70. I was having some issues with Autofocus during that wedding and decided to go manual instead. So to that if you plan on using Autofocus with your lens, the side grip is a great asset. I dont think its a hinderance by any means because it gives me a stable point of contact and quick assess to the record button.

How are you organizing your lights in the rolling case? I've been looking for something more durable than the Neewer brand and have been considering the Think tank production manager but the price is steep at $650, but It has dividers to protect lights and other items.
@WaywardNorth10 ай бұрын
Yeah the only downside is the tenba case doesn’t have organizers but the amarans comes with a light protector when packing so that helps. But generally my lights are in the back and my tripods and stands are in the front

Hey man! Thanks as always for the awesome content. I am thinking of purchasing the Nisi Swift system for my video production but I just want to make sure I understand how they work. Can I buy 1 system and the then buy adaptor rings for all of my lenses? I saw adaptor rings but it look like the only allowed for the easy press-on functionality of the filters, but did not act as a step up or step down. Let me know your thoughts! Thanks!
@WaywardNorth9 ай бұрын
Hey man sorry I missed this! I have the 77mm System I believe and for any of my lenses that are 72 or 82 I do use step up/down rings to compensate., So yes, having step up rings on all lenses to make them all the same mm is a must! The adaptor rings that come with the system aren't the same as step up rings so I would snag those seperately!

It’s interesting you recommend the Tamron for video. The stabilization is not nearly as good as it is with native Sony lenses. You can see it in your sample footage - it’s very jarring. Perhaps that’s an artistic choice, but I personally prefer the smooth look I get out of Sony lenses.
@WaywardNorth10 ай бұрын
I shoot handheld pretty much all day - just what I prefer. The Tamron is a beautiful lens, sure it doesn’t have IS like Sonys Gmaster 70-200 but the versatility alone is what makes this lens impressive. If you go for smoother look a monopod with this lens would do wonders. I prefer the imperfection. Imo makes the wedding film feel more real. It’s all subjective 🤗

Great collection here! I want to get those reception lights but I have a hard time believing these are strong enough. Do you have to have them close to your speaker or do they really have some punch for distance?
@WaywardNorth10 ай бұрын
Not at all they are ridiculously bright and half the time I have to stay around 30% because ppl approach me saying I’m blinding them lol Now depending on the venue size and placement of course the strength will vary but most of the venues I’ve worked I’ve never had any issues with reaching my subjects
@kowalskivideos647610 ай бұрын
They are bright as hell. I have guests from time to time complain and I usually only crank it to 30% only. Personally I like the aputure 60x a little better but I use both one for key and one for fill and they can handle a 250 person wedding easy cappeezy
