How to make a Psychological Movie where the wife/lover has to escape from his Psycho Husband: - The husband has to have a degree in Engineering and Architect and can also build their own house, so that the wife doesn't escape. - Has glasses and has a busy schedule so that the wife can coincidentally make her escape plan.
@GoingAery

It's sad because an actual crime that's happened was similar to this. The perpetrator also have a degree in Engineering or Architecture and he built his own house. The victim was also hidden away in his basement for 24 years (worse than this I guess) and even gave birth in captivity. So we know these writers are basing these psychos based on real life ones.

the wife’s actions actually make a lot of sense 1. self doubt: no one wants to believe that their loved ones are capable of terrible things. this is the man she chose to marry and she wants to believe it’s just a misunderstanding 2. she didn’t really have a lot of concrete evidence. she had a broken camcorder, a matching letter with house blueprints and a picture of the intruder working on her house. at most she could’ve told the cops that she thought he went to the hospital the night the intruder was killed but she had no real reason to believe her husband would do such a thing at that point.

Yeah the guy wasn't armed, was wounded and was asking for help. So from her perspective, it probably didn't look like self defence but a straight up execution/murder. Which is why I think it makes sense that she was shocked he was capable of doing such a thing.

This dude really did all that thinking his wife would be okay living with him as a family after he killed someone and stole her baby (a baby that was conceived from his assault, no less)? And if he didn't plan on telling her all that - how was he going to explain a random baby being in their lives? There was literally no game plan.

I can see few incoherences the first being : why didn't daniel went to see the cops to report his missing daughter if he explained everything they would surely do something or atleast doubt hendry. The second being, given the fact that daniel helped building the house he should've noticed the hidden room in the office when he slipped in the house the first time, i mean he most likely had the plan of the house and he probably built the hidden room aswell so he should've known there was supposed to be another toom in the office

Christine was already a missing person before the beginning of the film and the police hadn't gotten anywhere with that. And he and his sons had extensive criminal history. The police were the last people they wanted to talk to or deal with and understandably would take the law into their own hands. As far as not finding the room when they break in they probably just didn't know where the button was?

Why can't he just has a secret mistress somewhere & give birth to his son? Or even better find a surrogate mother or get an adopted kid? Why go through so much trouble? And when did he plan to kidnap Christine in the first place? He met Christine while building his home, so he decided to suddenly add the secret room to the original home plan & nobody (the people building the house) get suspicious?

Imagine how you would feel if you found out your partner had a weapon that you didn't know about. Who's to say it is for emergencies? What happens if you get out of line? The fact of the matter is that if everyone who is of appropriate age and lives in the house does not know about the gun, something is wrong.
