This series of lighting videos is helping me kill it on my lighting unit at school. You guys are amazing. You're helping my bullshit, hand-me-down equipment actually compete in this course.

Color grading is a highly underestimated trait of good filmmaking. It is also fairly hard for new filmmakers like me! Thanks for sharing your insight behind why you made the choices you did while grading.

This works pretty well. I shot an entire feature using a shower curtain and a work light rack back in 2010 ;) Leap: Rise of the Beast (Also the first feature to be shot and completed on the T2i). To support it, I built a 5ft by 5ft PVC frame to hang it from

Ryan I found that white canvas and plastic tarps work very well. We have a couple 48" x 48" frames and use bungee cords to attach a canvas tarp. It works really well for overhead lighting as well. Great Vid.

Hey, FilmRiot. I just bought your full "Triune Sound Music Pack" and its freaking awesome. For me as a young filmmaker this is the stuff of my dreams. Having a set of high quality adjustable musik I can freely use helps me out in so many projects. And I love how you added those stingers and so on. You can realy tell that you thought what would help the people and not how you could make money out of this. Best wishes from germany.

I've actually made my own light bar - and an easy trick is to have only ONE light at one end, and THREE at the other end (leaving a four socket gap between them). That of course cuts the amount of light in half, but on a close up it gives an easy highlight from the one blub, and fill or key with the three bulbs. Experiment with it. Who knows when something like that could come in handy.

Can you guys do an episode comparing professional lighting, mounting, accessories vs cheap knock off items? I recently found a 120 led light on eBay from China with no brand on it for $15 and I bought it just for fun, when it arrived I was surprised to find out it works just as well as my $80 professional one. I've been wondering if there are any other cheap film accessories can stand up to high quality ones.

@FilmsCrunch10 жыл бұрын

@TechManYeah10 жыл бұрын
I have a fog machinery ne. Don't get cheap fog. Go with higher grade so it doesn't annoy the actor. Also when you have fogged the room out in fog, use a piece of card and woft it to spread the fog around and get a more even look. U might also want to get a more expensive fogger if u want I to be quiet.
