I was not born in this era, but I came to love classic shows like this and I love Lucy…and my mom and Grandma knew they never had to worry about me being alone and watching tv, as I was likely to have it on the history channel one of the animal shows, a cooking show or tv land with some of my favorite shoes. These were true comedy shows as they never required dirty themes or words to be funny, they could be even funnier by keeping it clean!

Once or twice with MTM, and a Christmas show or two, and once in a dream sequence where Rob has to decide between seeing Richie in a school play, or flying to Washington as a talent scout for Alan Brady. Producers like Carl Reiner changed. He produced The New Dick van Dyke Show in the early 70s. Similar to this. Reiner wrote an episode where the preteen daughter walked in her parents having sex. CBS said not on our network and not with Dick van Dyke and Hope Lang and NOT in the family hour. Reiner got mad and quit. The show limped on for a few more months. Reiner next appeared writing and producing Steve Martin sex farces like The Jerk, Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid and The Man With Two Brains. IOW the talent no longer wanted to do these shows, despite millions still watching them in syndication.
