Dick Van Dyke's brilliance was/is beyond compare. He's why so many got into the business. John Ritter loved him and his Jack Tripper mannerisms were taken right from Rob Petrie. Others who have cited him as an influence include Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, Conan O'Brien, Jim Carrey, Paul Reiser and Bryan Cranston

I love Laura's dress, it was so elegant. Probably annoying to wear. The clothes, hair, houses, furniture were so much more sophisticated. We have lost that glamour.

@@amierichan7231 MTM had a beautiful body, all she had to do was put any dress on and she looked unreal. Sally and Millie also had good figures. No need for restrictive undergarments, like say, Spanx. What heavy makeup were any of the women on that show wearing? As for hairstyles, they are ridiculous now and wirh more product and work.

He worked more as a Director than as an actor, in fact he directed episodes of 7 other series while DVD was still in production, including That Girl and The Munsters. He even directed films including Police Academy 2 and Police Academy 3.

Where was Richie when Rob and Laura were out to dinner? No babysitter was there when they got back. Richie seemed to disappear and re-appear as needed. Most people have permanent children.

The show never really developed the Richie character. He was more of a nuisance than a son. Larry Matthews wasn't a good actor.

I never could stand MTM on this show, but liked her on her 1970s show. On this show, she was always wired, cried alot, and was a pain in the butt annoying person. This show was funny and I liked the other cast.
