the “catch” varies from psycho to psycho. one psycho might not want you talking to anyone including your cat. another psycho might want to enroll y’all in a swingers club. the “catches” to these type of arrangements are endless. she obviously did not want to be a doctor. if a man can buy your entire career path by buying u stuff, you are confused. i certainly am glad she recovered. i’m a woman and i’ve never been turned on by a man’s $$$. women need to stop thinking sumbody wants to father them after they are grown. buy your own stuff. But that advice is too simple i suppose.

She was a gold digger from day one, I bet she was never pregnant and was saying that to rope him into marriage to get half his money.

@@stephaniecoggins733 Thanks, Stephanie! I've been a Blazers fan since 1990, and until 2011, Portland was my favorite place to visit. Since 2012, it's been Vancouver BC. That's why cases on Oregon and British Columbia interest me. I used to have an "Oregon Summertime Getaway:" Portland, Newport Beach, Grants Pass (heat wave golf and basketball, jet boat ride), Klamath Falls (that drive North on 97 just North of Klamath Falls is AWESOME, as you clearly know), Crater Lake, Bend (High Desert Museum), and back to Portland. It seems like you agree, that just being NEAR (relatively speaking) the scenes of the crimes, makes it "more relatable." Like, on Cold Case Files, seeing a story IN Seattle, watching the footage, even re-creations, I tell myself, "I KNOW where those places are!" Compare, a case in North Carolina or Virgina, where I haven't been to much, and have no connection, the cases just don't "hit close to home" as much.

@@stephaniecoggins733 Stephanie, sorry to hijack this thread. But, the city of Susanville, California has a LOT of meaning to me. I've been through there nearly 10 times, no surprise, to and from Reno. I know that it's kind of a "significant juction," but I didn't realize that there are about 5 roads in and out of there! I want to, this time, go by where YOU are in Malin, from Klamath Falls, and take the Southeast route, down to Susanville! Last time I did it, I went SouthWEST, down to Weed, California, and then cut over to Susanville. The reason why Susanville and Weed, California have emotional meanings to me, is because I've been through there with my late father, on all of those occasions. And, during some happier times of my life. Have you ever taken the drive down that highway towards Tule Lake?

@@stephaniecoggins733 Stephanie, I HAVE been through Bly and Lakeview! Lakeview sounded familiar. When I looked on the map, I see that, in 1993 (1993-94 was among the BEST years of my life), my Dad and I, from Reno, had lunch in Susanville, drove to Alturus, which took us through Lakeview and Bly! So, that route, then from Reno, then from Lassen, means that I've taken at least three routes in and out of Susanville. Maybe, my Tule Lake one will "fill the list." Those are some nice drives, down in your area. That I described the "awesome wide open scene, of the Klamath Basin, on US 97 driving North, around Modoc Point," proves that I HAVE been there, haha!! If you and your family and friends see this nerdy, slightly overweight, Japanese-American man with a Washington license plate, pulled over or even standing on the shoulder, crying, that's just me, thinking about my father, and happier times in my life. Hopefully, this planned drive will be a more HAPPY thing for me, than sad.

Why can't women and men see the signs early on and get the hell away from that person...and permanently? No matter how much a person tells you they love you, it doesn't mean you should be with them. All the signs were there that Richard was toxic for Barbara. She should have left the furniture alone and go back to LA and be with her family and continue school. It's still sad that she ended up getting shot and almost lost her life behind it. So happy that she found a new life and career at the end of the story and even found love too. Hope she's still striving.

When you're in the toxic relationship with a narcissist, it's much harder to see the signs until you actually step out of it and see it through different eyes. I myself took 12 years to realize that I was in a toxic relationship with someone who treated me real badly almost the entire time, and only after I finally listed out the facts that I recognized that none of what he did was ever okay. Thankfully I'm with someone who treats me a great deal better, just like Barb's current husband does :-).

My favourite episode --- 1st story being the best, but extremely heartbreaking. I also, prefer Robert Stack to Dennis Farina. But in the 1st story, there's a reason why that dude (and those like him) faired so well financially --- and back in the 70s & 80s $600,000 was equivalent to owning 60 to 66 million dollars by today's standards. It was being absolutely wealthy back then. But people like him fair real well because they're extremely unconscionable and aggressive. in short, he's a total PSYCHOPATH. She got all the 'warning signs' about his dude, but didn't know what a total detriment he is to her. Very sad.

Her civil suit was dismissed because it wasn't proven that he was behind the hit. Then later she sued the police department, but surprise surprise that too was reversed after she won. *beep* Texas. $125,000 wasn't a fortune in the 90s. It is a good amount, but that's all. Some older people back then, probably because of the depression, hoarded money and lived a frugal life because it gave them security. My grandfather would save pennies and dimes, was afraid to invest, drove junk cars, wore cheap clothes including $10.00 shoes, etc. Not only did he have money in the bank, but hid money in drawers and joked about having money stuffed in a chicken (it might be true). He had a little less than Katherine did when he died in 97, maybe close to $100,000. It all went to my dumb uncle that blew it all. We knew he had a good sum, but didn't view him as rich. He was 74, younger than Katherine, but they lived during the same era.

Who knows if she is an "A" student? I doubt it. I am a prof. Melina is a con artist. I am also an economist of 35 years. I seriously doubt she could get a degree in economics, accounting, finance or any advanced math subject. I have taught a lot of students and can size up the trustworthy pretty well and less than one percent of students are like that. I do not like that that happens, and I tried to just get them to withdraw from my class or take 10 points off of a test. Then I do not turn them in for cheating etc. I also taught in also Asia a long time and the best students anywhere were often women who were NOT con-artists. The same with male students. Both of the two main people in this story are not trustworthy. Yes the man is much, much, much, much worse and a criminal . But both did different degrees of bad stuff. She was fooling around with a married man. Rules and laws are there to protect us.

You can see right through her.. she wasn't innocent grantee she was cheating and stealing from him, they even locked her up for stealing from him, and continued to tortured him by saying she was pregnant when she wasn't. then wouldn't sign a paper to end the relationship because she wanted his money he had millions. She was a gold digger from day one, I bet she was never pregnant and was saying that to rope him into marriage to get half his money.

Barbara was wrong. When the man’s wife came to her door and she found out the man was married, she didn’t walk away, she broke a married man’s marriage by remaining in the picture, that right there is called adultery, adultery is sin and so is fornication. sin represents satan and sin has repercussions. She paid a hefty price for breaking another woman’s home. She now feels the same way the first wife felt. In short, your life is a seed you are planting and will one day reap. Leave married men and women alone. Stop having sex before marriage, it will save you from making costly mistakes. 🤷‍♀️

You think a person deserves to be paralyzed over an affair? You are a sickening person. The irony is you probably believe yourself to be a Christian. Which newsflash you're not your very behavior rejects the teaching of Christ. Jesus didn't believe in punishing adultery but forgiving it.
