I have to disagree about the character development of the supporting heroes. If you've seen all of their previous movies, you already know who these characters are. Also, they had like 20 mins of screen time and you can't do justice to their stories along with the main story. All the cameos were mostly about fan service. Pure and simple. We got the added benefits of bringing all of the various IP's together in the same cinematic universe and, as you noted, giving the characters an end story. I love the way they handled Wolverine. From the opening sequence where Logan's corpse was dug up and used to slaughter a ton of people to the various versions of the character across the multiverse, it was perfect. The character development for this version was nothing spectacular, but passable enough. I thought the writers did a fantastic job overall.

the only thimgs i hated were cassandra nova and happy hogan ,maybe i was a little let down with the reason that this logan was the worst one, i was hoping it would have been the one who killed the x men as opposed the one who was drunk when they die, i mean dude if jean grey and charles xavier are dying to those attackers, them so is wolverine, i think they had wanted to go with that but ended up bactracking and let him feel indirect guilt about it instead of him having slaughtered everyone he loved

Isn't Bo Burnham completely wrong about Deadpool? That first movie was a passion project from Ryan Reynolds that he wanted to make for over a decade but the studio wouldn't allow it, and they only allowed it after the test footage leaked, and even then it was given a relatively small budget. What Bo says about it is the exact opposite of the truth of the situation.

I think out of all the Deadpool films, this is the one where the metatextuality has some relevance to the overall theme of the film. I mean, the fact that Deadpool himself thinks he'll only be worthy if he's an Avenger, or Marvel Jesus, is such a brilliant commentary on the current landscape of the superhero movies. Also, I disagree about the third act being anti-climactic. I still think it ties to the themes of purpose and companionship. Yes, it's not very meta, but the focus on the two titular characters made it a lot more emotionally satisfying for me atleast. And the army of Deadpool is obviously a dig at the frustratingly endless possibilities of the multiverse.

Have him refuse to wear it at first since he feels he failed them. Then, in that scene where he comes out the car to fight Cassandra, have him wear the suit for the first time! Then him keeping the mask at the end would make sense.

It is good. As far as im concerned, D&W is the best superhero comedy since the original Deadpool. It seems like people are making way too much out of this comedy. It was never meant to be Citizen Kane. It wasn't even meant to be another X-Men Days of Future Past. This is just a great, fun, zany, meta comedy like The Mask... only with a lot more violence. It's also meant as a love letter to fans of the pre-MCU Marvel superhero movies like Blade, Fantastic Four, Daredevil and X-Men. And for my money, this movie succeeds gloriously. As far as Wolverine is concerned, seeing him in his full classic yellow suit is one of the greatest reveal in any superhero movie. In Logan, Hugh proved once and for all that he is Logan. As far as im concerned, Hugh gave the performance of his career. In D&W, he proves once and for all that he is the Wolverine

It's interesting to see people complain about how thin and therefore bad the plot is and how devoid of depth and meaning it is as a result. On the superficial level, I can definitely agree that there isn't much going on, but when you take a look under the hood, there is actually a fair bit of heart, both for the characters and on a meta level. The metatextual reading that carries so much of the emotional and thematic weight (which is totally on brand for Deadpool) is just going to go completely over your head and isn't going to land if you simply don't have an abiding love for comic book movies and don't have a knowledge of the last quarter century of their history on and offscreen. With that in mind, I totally get why many "professional reviewers" just don't connect with this movie and only see it from the cynical perspective. In contrast, I think the reason why it seems to be resonating so much with audiences, aside from the fact that it's an MCU project that's finally not afraid to be cool again, is because it goes out of its way to respect that audience and reward their investment with a genuinely fun and cool (albeit simple) adventure. Who could have possibly ghessed that respecting your audience and rewarding their investment was a pathway to success? Here's hoping Marvel (and Lucasfilm and Disney as a whole) take thorough notes and have the humility and good sense to change accordingly.

Generally I would have the same feelings about Jackman coming back as Wolverine after Logan, but not this one... mainly because Ryan Reynolds has been fighting to have this happens long before Deadpool and Logan. They never really got what they want from Wolverine: Origin. So this never came across as some cynical money grab, but rather friends helping friends to fulfill something they long to do... and it's always good to see something succeed for all the right reasons. Reynolds has spend decades fighting for Deadpool, and it's nice to see success that comes from dedication. And I wouldn't say Ryan Reynolds is just 'playing' Deadpool in other movies, mainly because Deadpool as a character in the comic was in part slowly model after Reynolds style after it's inception. It's why Reynolds lean into it all those decades ago. It's like Marvel Ultimate envision Samuel L. Jackson as Ultimate Nick Fury, and so the MCU made it true. You can't really say Reynolds is 'playing' Deadpool when the whole character was molded towards him.

Anyone else? Notice wade saved his universe in the end. He did not have to join the other universe in the end. He is not in the 616 so he must like do day trips to the 616 or something now. Or his universe is the rated R universe.
@HonestJohn_01.194 ай бұрын
He'd already made at least one trip into the 616-Universe using Cable's watch following the end of "Deadpool 2". That's where he applied to be an Avenger.
@superadambomb58344 ай бұрын
@@HonestJohn_01.19I was so confused by that scene. Cables watch is a time travel watch. We’ve never seen it have any multiverse hopping abilities unless negasonic and yukio equipped it with that off screen which still doesn’t make a whole lot sense since negasonic would knoe just how irresponsible Wade would be with such a device.
@HonestJohn_01.194 ай бұрын
Edit: @superadambomb5834 In Deadpool's case time travel IS Universe hopping. As it was never explicitly stated that Cable's watch could only move back, and forth across ONE timeline. Which, we kind of already knew was the case when Deadpool killed Ryan Reynolds as he was reading the script for Green Lantern (a non-MCU timeline) at the end of Deadpool 2.

Hugh didn't come back purely because he wanted to wear the costume. It was because he felt working with Ryan's Deadpool would give him a unique experience and allow him to work a dynamic he hadn't had a chance to yet as Wolverine.

I think Hugh Jackman's potrayal of this 'failed' wolverine parallels how veterans returning from duty with PTSD react to life after a war. In the end of the day he is a hero but he doesn't feel like it. He's trying to drink his pain and guilt away thinking he never did or was meant to do any good in the world. By the end of the movie he completely redeems himself.

This turn around of this video is amazing and absolutely nails the reason I loved this movie so much. But one editors note, 22:39 was a bad example because Deadpool said he was so sorry about her loss" and elektra said "It's fine and struggled it off" so they did give some growth for the characters. There quite a bit of little nods like that, like Gambit saying it feels like he was only born in the void. I actually think for the time they got they gave the character a chance to grow since we last saw them.

Deadpool & Wolverine was just a good version of The Flash. A buddy trip movie staring one funny character and one serious one played by an actor reprising his role which fans love so much many say it can never be replicated, the two of which go on a cameo filled multiverse journy. The difference is there isn't one single thing that The Flash executed properly to the point that I don't understand how any movie can get made without a single right decision being made even by accident. D&W on the other hand was an absolute blast from begining to end and even doubled as a sincere and unapologetic love letter to the X-Men film franchise and several other non-MCU Marvel films that all resulted in the genre beng what it is today. It even loves the bad ones because they too mattered and brought us here.

Well, glad you enjoyed this one. Personally, I've loved all of them. Maybe it's just my sense of humor. Personally though, I never felt like anything was pretentious about Deadpool, especially since someone had to leak the test footage to even convince the execs that the initial concept could even do well, and bless that person and/or people for doing so because the one leak gave us years of entertainment, or most of us anyway, that was actually true to the characters and world. Is it the most high brow ever, no, but it's always been refreshing for me to experience. I'm just able to have an absolutely good time with any of these films and I always enjoy my rewatches of them. I mean... there really isn't anything quite like Deadpool, certainly not in the MCU at least, and I love it. Yeah the humor has a lot of dick jokes and what not, but I find it to be creative in both phrasing and execution. It's a fun and artistic troll humor that is far more clever than I think it gets credit for. I mean... at least the writers wrote what they knew unlike the crew behind She-Hulk. Whereas I feel Deadpool has always had a solid identity, even in Wolverine's Origin Ryan got to mouth off in his intro... before they decided to seal that mouth in the final act for whatever reason, but hey, the character was still there, and even the end credits scene had him give a cheeky wink at the camera. So yeah, even then there was an understanding of the character, and once that test footage leaked, boy did the following franchise show how well Ryan Reynolds and crew understood the Merc with a Mouth. Say what you will, but I think there's always been far more to Deadpool than just potty humor, and I believe that heart comes from Ryan Reynolds. I'll be honest, I never knew that much about the regenerating degenerate before the movies came out, but I did play the 2013 game, and I really enjoyed that. The movies seemed to take that character and amp the plot and antics up to where I can honestly say I am a fan. Dunno that I'd call myself a "mega fan" but I like him well enough. I can see the passion put into these movies, and while it seems surface level to some, I think it's really all made by fans speaking to fans, not the corporations. We've seen the corps talk through Doctor Strange 2, Thor 4, Ms. Marvel, The Eternals, The Marvels, The Acolyte, She-Hulk, and whatever other garbage I'm forgetting came out. A few of those I've wasted my time on, and decided no more, because those are truly the corporation not knowing anything and just saying what they think will get butts in seats, especially with She-Hulk. Deadpool always went the extra mile to push things forward, to challenge even the corporations that funded them in some way or another, again they needed to leak that test footage to even get a shot at a fully rated R movie. Is it the most insightful look into the core of humanity? No. But it is goddam fun, and in a way that I think most are afraid to even entertain the thought of, and that's where it pushes the boundaries. It shows that we can have fun in a new way and especially with this new release does it deliver on creative storytelling that I think Hollywood, especially Disney has been too afraid of for some time. I think Deadpool is something we need, even if some don't appreciate or like 1 & 2, I feel these are necessary to challenge and push things, if not forward then, in new directions. Maybe for some it's a bunch of dick jokes with a duct-taped together plot, but I will take that over being beaten over the head with what the company thinks are morals, ham-fisting messages down our throats with the dullest characters that flip their motivations and goals faster than a child left alone with a light switch and hopped up on caffeine. Not to mention the mess outside those productions and the attack on the fans, yeesh! Nah, give me Deadpool and Ryan Reynolds being grateful for his audience any day over any of that other crap. Deadpool may not be for all, but that's what makes him so great. He is unique. He is something, even if that something is annoying to some, he's a gift to others. "God's perfect idiot." Okay so all that to say, I disagree with the attitude towards the other Deadpool entries, but I am glad this one was well received. Carry on.

As someone who grew up with the Fox marvel movies and Hugh's Wolverine (first one came out when i was 4) this movie was made for me. The callbacks, the references, and the reverence for where the MCU came from made me a happy audience member. But did I continue to watch, yes because for once normal people were watching super hero movies and I could have a conversation with them. I was so glad I saw the headliner spoiler from Variety when it dropped on google at a glance. It was what got be to grab my bestie a Blade girlie and drag her to the screening without telling her why. She went through shock, denial, and acceptance with her bawling albeit silently. And the same way she nudged me when Gambit came on screen in his comic accurate costume speaking in the accent. Not a Channing fan but I had wanted to see Gambit portrayed onscreen in forever Ryan reaching out to each of them and asking means he knew how much this meant to the fans and that was a smart move. He gave us a good farewell ride for them while at the same time hinting we 'might' see them again with the TVA returning them to their universes.

For me, Deadpool and Wolverine (while not a ‘great’ film) was the Deadpool movie I’ve been waiting for: The sentimentality, behind the quips, paired with the sheer excitement/creativity that came from Deadpool in the MCU made for a really fun experience that I doubt we would have gotten a few years ago. Like you, I don’t have a deep attachment to the FOX Marvel universe… but I respect, and recognise, its importance in the grand scheme of the superhero genre, and it brought a tear to my eye to see that acknowledged and respected by the team behind Deadpool and Wolverine - It’s the kind of story that could *only* come from a Deadpool movie, and the fact that it’s 15 rated meant it could stand, pretty much, on its own as a fun, and reverent, funeral to the studio that really kicked off the modern superhero blockbuster as we know it today. Will it hold up in the future? I have no idea, but I had fun and I’m glad the film exists.
