You know what might help? Bring back masculine men in the hero roles they deserve! Oh, yeah, and tell great stories.

I still can't get over how they are making a Vision show before a show staring Wolverine. Or any of the A-list X-Men. Was anybody asking for more Vision?
@fishjones4618
@fishjones4618 8 ай бұрын
Maybe the stakes are too high because he’s such a popular character and that ANY iteration of Wolverine won’t be this person or that person’s iteration and it would flop on that alone. Besides the competent filmmakers, Iron Man and GOTG probably had the advantage of being B or C or D list characters.

I don’t mind a Vision Show. He’s a strong character. It would have to be an intellectual show with no Girl Boss or women over powering men 99 percent of the time.

I'd take a Vision show over a Wolverine show everyday of the week and twice on Sundays. Jesus Christ am I tired of Wolverine and Vision is a cool character.

Honestly, this is one of the only videos I can remember that discusses the Girl Boss problem with actual substance and doesn't rely on empty platitudes about gender.

Im sorry, but when I see a tiny woman beating up a big dude it completely breaks the suspension of disbelief. I completly check out, and think, thats nonsense. Case and point, the movie Prey, that little wannabee warrior takes out a whole encampment of voyageurs. If it hadn't been for my live of the creature the Predator, I would have turned it off. Whoever wrote that should know that voyageurs rowed sonetimes 14 hours a day upstream. Then they had to traverse difficult terrain carrying their boat and supplies. Those men were power houses. I literally yelled out, bullsh@t when that scene happened. I still cant re-watch that movie. Its stupid.

Having read that David Oyelowo parents are descended from Nigerian royalty there is a pretty good chance that he is descended from slave owners and merchants. Maybe another reason he didn't want to play an American slave?

The observation of modern girl boss writing immediately skipping Ripley from ALIEN and turning her into Vasquez from ALIENS is a very effecient way of summarizing the current issue with hollywood films.

I think there’s some confusion among writers regarding what makes a character relatable. I think they misunderstand what creating a relatable character is and what a relatable identity is. I think a relatable character resonates with audiences through universal emotions, experiences, and personal growth. They possess qualities that anyone can understand or empathize with, regardless of their background. These are human experiences that bridge diverse audiences. On the other hand, I think that a relatable identity refers to specific aspects of a character’s background, such as their race, gender, sexuality, or cultural heritage doesnt necessarily make a character relatable to everyone. They connect with audiences who share or understand these particular experiences, but they might not relate in the same way as core human emotions and challenges. And this is where they think their characters because a gender diverse person is relatable to themselves not relating to the struggles or experiences of the character

10-15 years ago I would have embraced a Furiosa movie.... but in 2024 I am so burned out on girl bosses that I have zero interest in this even knowing it will have great stunts and look visually beautiful.

In a post apocalyptic world where might makes right women would have no place outside of mother and homemaker. The moment they went out into the world they would be taken in the most horrific way by a bigger strong man. You can only maintain the suspension of disbelief for so long with women warriors. Not sorry.

“I don’t really have any stories, revolving around old man Max…” - George Miller. BULLSHT!! There is simply NO way, that Miller hadn’t written, or pondered OMM. I think the actual TRUTH, is that Miller *knows* what will, and what WON’T get studio backing at this current time. You want people is seats? Bring back Max’s final story. Furiosa, is fine as a *side* character, but there is simply (IMO) NO chance that she can replace Rockatansky. The clock, is literally ticking here…..

In another era Chris Hemsworth would have been a mega-star. Now he is relegated to playing second fiddle to the random "flavor of the week" female actors that are crowbarred into action films these days.

I'm woke (as I've pointed out several times) I'm also a POC (horrible term) but I never had trouble identifying with the protagonist no matter what their colour was in the shows I watched as a kid. I think that this is primarily because a protagonist is not the colour of his or her skin, they are a whole bunch of other things including the content of their character. We are being driven apart by cultural terrorists on the left and right.

Granted it was much better that "Picard" season 1 & 2 (not a high bar), but "Picard" season 3 was not great either. At best it was meh filled with member berries. Too many people have had their expectations lowered too far from having to wade through the sea of turds being churned out lately. Also... No Mel Gibson = No Mad Max = No Mad Max Movie = not going to watch it.

Yeah I don't see anyone complaining about guy boss movies. To me the complaints about the girl boss trope have some undertones of sexism. There are movies that have overpowered female characters but I get the feeling that some of these people just don't like powerful female characters. It seems to irritate them. Secondly I do not consider Furiosa a girl boss movie. She did not come out unscathed that's for sure, but she was smart in the way she navigated her world which is the reason why she succeeded. And at some point a guy helped her out.
