I was on the jury in 1980/81 ?? Fir the National awards . And I remember Smt S Janaki had wind the best singer for a Malyali film Oppal . I must say I was mesmerised by her personality too . While waiting for Amjad Ali Khan’s concert I just stuck to her chatting at dinner ! Wonderful to find her in such a lovely spirit ! 💐

She in fact did not give opportunities to South-Indian singers like SPB too! Vani ji is an excellent singer and in fact she got more than 3 awards for this Guddi song itself! Vani ji is one of the finest singers India has ever had look at her works in other languages perhaps you can get answers to those! Bollywood never appreciates south Indians at all! Best example would be Usha Uthup! She has not received any film fare awards till dates except for 1 in her life! Please don't rubbish our singers!
