Great bag. How’s the comfort when walking around the city or during travel for longer periods of time? I feel like it won’t be as comfortable as a backpack but this is definitely much nicer!

The fabric has definitely soften up over time. I think it's actually more comfortable compared to leather briefcase. Yup, when it comes to one sided shoulder bag, this one is very comfortable.

For the 257, I prefer Tan. It's the classic color for this bag.

How’s the leather? I’ve noticed some small cracks on mine. Not sure if it’s because I wasn’t conditioning

@@matthoffman6962 I haven't seen any cracks yet, but I recommend to oil the leather once every 6 months just to keep it soft and nice.

Filson doesn’t have the 257 on their site. I see the 256. What’s the diff? Thinner canvas?

257 is deeper with my depth. You can put 2 laptops in it and I tried that. 256 is a bit slim so you have less room to play with. Filson has discontinued the 257 but you can still find them on Ebay.

what do you think of the waterfield bolt briefcase? Is it as good as the Filsons? Do you recommend it?

I have not used waterfield bolt briefcase myself. Reason being I don't like the look of it. The two buttons design don't look timeless enough for me. For near $300, I'd pick Filson over it.

I currently have the 24hr briefcase by filson and am wondering- is it worth it to have both the 257 and the 24 hr? or are they too similar?

24hr is slight bigger than 257. I don't think you need both. Since you already got the 24hr, there's not enough reason to justify buying something slightly smaller.

I have the same in Otter green that I have been using since 5 years now - kzbin.info/www/bejne/nGnYgpaIgrprgcU I have one question though. How do you clean it? I normally wash them with little bit of soap and leave then dry. I also don't like the fact that color fades away after several washes. Would waxing it retain the green tone of it? Any ideas? If wax, then which one should I use?

Tell you a little about myself. My mom (before she retired) is a professional sewer. She'd spent close to 40 years working on clothing and fabrics. One thing I learned. If you want any good fabric to last, wash less. I don't wash my wav canvas briefcase because i like the patina it accumulated over time. I love the aged look. If it gets really, really dirty, I just use a a damp towel, wipe it down and re-waxed it. The more patina, the better! :)

@@atlanticking2315 Yes, it is waxed. I did wax it myself just to make sure it's well prepared for daily use.

Never use soap on waxed canvas, it strips the wax off. Just wipe it clean with a damp cloth.
