I'm not sure, but I think the video/song is about how kids in America become adults and don't know what to do with themselves. At the end the "party is over" and everything's trashed...where do we go from here?

Great song! And I must say, the leader singer, to me, bears a striking resemblance to Edward Furlong!

They were going on tour when the lead singer Richard Patrick had to go into aldohol rehab. Filter is his trademark and he has not reformed the band at this time. He is now in a band with the Deleo brothers of Stone Temple Pilots and a session drummer named Ray Luzier. He is a freaksihly good drummer. The band is called Army of Anyone and they are on tour now. I am big fan of Richard Patrick as I met him when he was the lead guitarist for Nine Inch Nails about 100 years ago.

not to get too in depth here, but why does the one guy go into the bedroom where the two teens are, and he is noticed??If the lead singer isn't noticed, why is the other guy noticed? Just needing a little feedback from everyone.

Listen to the lyrics. "im not so glad I met you.. It makes me want to go away..." Do you see him smiling at that party? Plus, these guys came out before Hannah Montana almost landed on a tissue. Great song. Too bad my genre is drifting off in to nothingness these days except a few of the older bands that still decided to kick around.

I would have to debate that. "Industrial" as a genre had an influence on what Nine Inch Nails did, but they were never a strictly industrial band. Trent Reznor has never referred to them as that, but his does share many techniques with industrial bands such as Throbbing Gristle and Einsturzende Neubauten. The industrial influence on bands such as Filter is far less prevalent.

All you idiots on here (or should I say the single idiot) calling this "emo" or "screamotional" are all fucking clueless. Regardless of what you think of the mo genre, if that's what you want to call it, Filter is the furthest thing from it. All music has emotions and they certainly aren't whining in this song. Grow up, only a 14 year old would start mentioning "screamotional" and "emo" for this.

first of you are talking about Rolling stone a magazine that has eaten shite since the 70's trashed everything that cream or eric clapton ever did and i know i should not dare mention that in here...and also he was the live guitar player for all of the pretty hate machine tour as well as broken and fixed. Whoever said he had no impact on nin is crazy...and i love them both...

I'd agree with the sentiment of "I see Bullshit comments on every pageon KZbin"; but, to then say "Fucking lame asses making the worst comments, with no explaination" and "Goth, Rock wannabe Good Charlotte listening"; that's a contradiction to what you're advocating. I'd suggest that people simply calm down and appreciate the video, or don't and leave it that. There's really no need to get into such a hateful discussion in the first place.

Alxpeters, Snoop0707, and Jamal - Right on. Filter is about the furthest thing from Emo. Richard Patrick, a former member of N.I.N., emo? I think not. Short Bus, 92 or 94 when that came out waaaayyy not emo. The remaining albums did get a touch softer in comparison to Short Bus, but only because they grew as artists. You don't grow into emo, ONLY OUT OF IT! Right on again to the people on here who think, we could use more of you in the world.

Not if you're a musician, it's not. As someone who has spent almost 3 decades learning to play instruments, study music history, writing reviews, academic papers, film and theatre scores, and basically living and breathing music there's no such thing as "just" music. If you don't like what I have to say, just move on. It's easy.

ok, here's another question about this video. Notice the kids are taking photos using the old time polaroid camera? The kitchen doesn't look modern, maybe this is about his childhood and how it has passed him by? I know, too analytical, but that's me :)

Emo dates back to the mid-80s. It began as a sub-genre of the Washington D.C. hardcore scene. The first wave of emo bands included Rites of Spring and Embrace and were influenced by such albums as Hüsker Dü's "Zen Arcade".
