Next time go to your local brewer supply store and get something called an Auto-Siphon. It's made for getting liquid out of jars and leaving behind the stuff at the bottom

Might want to move it back a bit for that first pour. A lot of that resin-laden IPA is splashing out past the slap mat onto the edge of the counter and floor.

You can get sediment syphons for wine making that leave about 1/2 inch in the bottom

Is there a reason you do not just filter the sunlight treated IPA?

I put a cheap lawnmower fuel filter in my siphon line to get out out small particulates. A ceramic / carbon filter would be better though.

Wait, that perfectly clear lovely IPA is what you call dirty? Jesus that's hardly been touched. That's like...two prints worth of washing.

I just got your flex plate for a Saturn 2. Do I need anything else to install it and have it work correctly and still print? People are saying I need a washer or some other things to install for it to allow my machine to still level correctly

I watched another channel where leaving dirty alcohol in the sun produced a jar of pudding. This looked much better
@WhamBamSystems

it can happen if super saturated, clean earlier, and leave your jar untouched for as long as you can, even a few months. It should separate

The problem that I do not see being addressed in ANY of these videos is that following only removes solid material. It does nothing to remove the dissolved material. Distillation is the only truly effective method.

While true, but in my experience even somewhat dirty IPA still works for cleaning prints after using some simple filtering methods - you just dont want visible gunks sticking to your models.

I find my ipa turns brown when I leave it sitting in the sun.
@WhamBamSystems

Haven’t seen that! Is it just super saturated?

Is it possible to use a UV light to speed up the process?
@WhamBamSystems
@WhamBamSystems 2 жыл бұрын
I’m sure it would work, but the sun seems to be the strongest source, you also need patience and time for the sediment to drop down to the bottom

I do this with my pickle jar setup. when it gets cloudy I just set the whole thing in the UV box I made overnight. the next morning I pour it threw my paper filter into a sour cream/cottage cheese tub (always have one or two of these in the kitchen), wipe the pickle jar clean, and then filter it again as I pour it back into the pickle jar, and finally throw away the cottage cheese container. No need for a siphon.

I had dirty alcohol with tesin already in the bottom and i put it in the sunlight . Some moments later it turned into kind of " milk " . Is there a way to clean that " milky " ipa ?
@WhamBamSystems
@WhamBamSystems 2 жыл бұрын
Let it sit for quite a while it should separate again, I think the milky effect happens due to being super saturated. It might be best to filter and clean your alcohol earlier
@davesou1

everyone puts it in the sun. Why not get a uv lamp and let it do its thing. Wouldn;t that be a whole lot quicker?

I try this and all it does is turn the whole bottle into semi-solid sludge. Then again, your "dirty" water is the third stage of my cleaning process. The first one, and 1/2 second, are too dark to see through and turn into the sludge if exposed.
@WhamBamSystems
@WhamBamSystems 2 жыл бұрын
Let is sit for a number of weeks, it should drop down. Otherwise in future clean earlier before alcohol is too saturated

no sorry, not buying it, I abandoned the sunlight part some time ago after realising that the resin does cure but some fine resin becomes part of the liquid, all other parts shown here i do, but i store in the dark, I then get clean, clear non sticky alcohol, but after 2 cleans I fi d the ipa is then dead or to sticky to reuse.
