If you have trouble with the lower-left screw like me, remove the glove box door first. It will make it 10x easier to access all seven screws and without the need of a special long screwdriver. To remove: Open the door midway, wiggle it off the hinges, slide it out by pulling out right side first, but there is still a retractable cable on the back left-hand side. You can disconnect this by pushing the clip out to the left. Worked like a charm. Thanks for the video! Saved me $100+.

I was able to do it like the above with a makita magnetized screw holder but the far back screw and bottom left, would not work with the magnetized screw holder since it was blocked by the plastic around the screw. What I need is whatever magnetic screw holder the person in the video is using but my fall back was to just remove the glove box. In the end, I got the screws back in using packing tape to start those 2 screws.
@samk75009 ай бұрын
Can confirm this works. I removed the glove box first on a 2013 g37 so my standard screwdriver was OK. The retractable cable was a little difficult to unhook each time as there wasn't much space for my hand. I would note, an especially short screwdriver would still be difficult (maybe impossible?) because of how much crap is packed into the glove box components.
@shazam673 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the assist. I was able to do this on my 2013 Infinti G37 without owning an extended phillps head. I improvised one by using pliers to hold the end of my "regular" screwdriver when removing the bottom left screw of the assembly. Did not need to do this for any of the other screws, nor did I need to remove the glove compartment door. Glad this is over!

Thanks for this excellent video; couldn't have removed the glove box w/o it. One point to make: Make sure that the filter is flush against the top of the chamber (where the air is flowing in). Flush not only in the front, but, also in the back. There is a small ledge located in the back of the chamber housing that the filter can rest on. Be sure to rest it there first, and then install the chamber door making sure the front of the filter is also flush against the top of the chamber's housing.

@walshsc The arrows on our filters indicate the direction of airflow, while some other manufacturers put arrows on their filters indicating the orientation of the arrow after installation. The original filter had an arrow pointing up as in "this side up". Our filter is showing you which direction the air will flow.

Yet the fan below the filter is blowing air upwards. Therefore the air will flow upwards thru the filter. So why are you putting the filter in upside down???

Good video but one thing you don't need a long screw driver. Just remove the glove box itself before removing the assembly. It's easy just open the glove box lift up then move side to side to disengage the pegs on ether side. Then remove the cord. Now any Philips head will work. I actually did the install while my wife was driving home from the part store.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the old filter was pointing up, then you said the new filter should point down?
@filterheads4 жыл бұрын
Our arrows point down to indicate the direction the air is actually flowing. It should also be noted that the arrows on the OEM filter can be misleading if you intend to replace them with an aftermarket filter. The OEM filter has "UP" arrows, whereas aftermarket filters show air flow arrows. If using an aftermarket filter, the airflow arrow should be pointing DOWN. This will make sense to you when you pull out the old filter and notice that all the debris (leaves, bugs, etc.) are on top of the filter. Therefore, the airflow travels downward, through the filter and into the blower vanes.

You should replace your cabin air filter once a year or every 15,000 miles. A dirty cabin air filter filter could be filled with debris like leaves, pollen, and dust. If you live in an area with a lot of smog or around a lot of trees you might want to consider replacing it more often because you'll have more debris that may clog up the filter. Our arrows point down to indicate the direction the air is actually flowing. It should also be noted that the arrows on the OEM filter can be misleading if you intend to replace with an aftermarket filter.

Stale odors can also be caused by dirty cabin air filters.
