I found my last GSA 1250 to be a great year round bike. Never hesitated to take a ride on a cold day. Now on my Scrambler 1200 XE, I feel that cold on my face when stepping out the door and I say no riding today 😂

The GSA is a “Ronda Rousey” whereas, a HD Full Dresser would be a “Lizo” to be proportionally accurate 😂🤣

Clock resetting itself and the funny throttling issue might be related.. I have a '24 'normal' GS and haven't had the issues you saw ever, yet.

Awesome looking beast, the bike looks great too 🤔 I’ll stick with my RT for now as I’ve no plans on circumnavigating the globe anytime soon 👍

Lovely spot around there for military history, just near Edgehill, and some awesome roads. Southam to Banbury is epic, then Banbury to Stratford upon Avon, and make the triangle on the Fosse Way back to Southam. Perfick 😃 For some reason the cheapest fuel in the UK seems to be around that region too. Think Balsall Common, near Meridan (claims fame for the geographical centre of England), often wins the cheapest petrol station in the UK.

So riddle me this, other than old man points, what would make it better than an RT assuming you aren’t going off road? RT probably narrower or the same width? Better weather protection, sharper handling with the smaller front wheel, more comfort? When the 1300 comes out it will be quicker than the GSA I’d expect?

That was one of my concers about the GSA ver 1.3 Here in Ireland we have narrower roads, even narrower still when they add in cycling lanes.. and I'm just not sure I'm comfortable enough to try with a GSA, instead of the GS. Q: why did you spec for the ASA?

I noticed that the quick shifter on my 1300GS is more sensitive than my old 1250 and if I have my foot touching the lever - no power

Just watched both vids back to back & you've sold me one (just need the money). BMW should let you keep it if many more feel like me. And I think it looks fantastic. You also sold me a Tiger 900 GT Pro which I'm more likely to buy😁

You said filtering wasn't an issue. I know those bunny ear bits of crash protection ar in plumb with the end of the handlbars but I've seen pictures where they've scraped cars when filtering (But what can you believe on the net anyway). So you had no issues?
@timrodierides
@timrodierides Ай бұрын
I mean, it isn't going to fit through a gap that you'd get an R1 through. I actually think the crash bars are a hair wider than the handlebars. But I didn't really have a problem until things got really tight

Great video, I like your relentless commentary and style. One point, the HSC has two settings: Auto and Manual/Off. In Auto it can still be overridden (turning either on or off) by puling the front brake or depressing the foot brake. I leave mine in Auto, and will turn it off, just when the lights are changing. This is because, you need to hit 2k revs or more, to auto release it. Sometimes, when you're in tight traffic like in London, you want to feather the clutch with minimum throttle input. In this case, it easy to stall the bike, so if you have HSC on, just release it with either one of the brakes. As for ASA, I had a GS with ASA for a whole day, and I liked it. I didn't like the smoothness or lack of smoothness, but I have heard the implementation on the GSA is better. However, as I commute on my 99.5cm wide RT, down the M1 to London from MK, I see the benefits of ASA for filtering in rush hour. I have taken the panniers off mine, I keep shirts and trousers in the office, so the top box is enough for me. However, the problem with panniers is the "closing spaces" where you nip between a narrowing space. The sort of diagonal manouevre we as bikers occasionally make becomes more risky with big panniers on the back. In fairness, I rarely filter faster than 5mph over the traffic speed, which in rush hour traffic on the M1 seems to be a good life strategy. On numerous occasions, idiots stay in the third (or fourth or fifth, where they exist) overtaking lane right just before their junction. They then decide to just "nip across" when they see a space. If you get taken out if you're filtering fast, you get what you deserve, in my opinion. The other thing I do, which seems to have changed since I passed my car test in 1981, is you can use your horn on the motorway. I do an erratic flash on my lights, not a constant, but ever changing one as I approach. I look into the cars through the back windows, as far as possible. If someone isn't moving or is on their phone, they get a blast on the RT twin tone, which is excellent as a standard fit. Sometimes I flash and beep at the same time. 95% of drivers move out of the way. I always think it's important to thank them, and not to ride like a twat. Letting them in, when there's a lane closure, goes far to help other riders filter safely. Often on a Monday M1 morning, I'll see a knob filtering at 30/40mph through stationary traffic. You get what you deserve if you ride like that.

It must be interesting to be able to filter, as you get to see the idiot in the R/H lane, with an empty road in front if them, causing 100’s of vehicles to be backed up 😮
