Who on earth could sleep on this bed?!
This episode we see the cleaners head north of the border to the Guynd, a Regency mansion in North East Scotland, and home to 78-year old John Ouchterlony, the 26th laird.
Once a glorious Scottish estate, over the last 20 years the Guynd has been in steady decline - nowadays the grand entrance hall serves as John’s workshop for his DIY projects, his dining room is nothing more than a recycling bin for old papers and John seems to share his kitchen with mice and other uninvited guests.
Now, as John grows older, he’s starting to think about passing the Guynd on to his son, Elliot, a student in faraway New York. But with the Guynd in its current state, he worries that Elliot won’t want to take on that burden.
With Elliot due to return on a visit at the end of the week, John wants to breathe new life into his family home and throw a grand ceilidh for his son’s homecoming. But with such a huge job on his hands, it’s more than he can manage alone.

Hayley is so funny .. "He needs to get rids of his teat!" They both are funny but she just makes me laugh so much .. I mean he either wants his son to come back and want to inherit the house or leave it has it is and his son to say "See yer wouldn't wanna be yer!" lol. John said this hoover is broken so Hayley said shall we throw it in the skip? John replied no you cant get them anymore so to speak lol. John is such a sweet kind man who just needs the help bless him. He just melts your heart. He never once got angry for them placing his stuff in the skip without asking him. Elliot just may stop there and well done Dan and Hayley yayyy a well done job and bless John xx

You know I watch this programme with interest. Because let's face it there's a bit of boarder lurking about in all of use it just depends on when it will be triggered . It has come to my notice that the attitude of some of the compulsive people absolutely stinks. To hear them talk about people while looking down there noses really upsets me. If there's one thing I can not stand it's hypocrite If you watch the way they hold themselves while talking about the great unwashed as they call the rest of us they come across as seeing themselves better than everyone else Hayley tried to act like her bodily functions are as sterile as her marigolds. But her accent gives her away. You can take the girl out of chavy but you can't take the chavy out of the girl. She walks about like there's a bad smell under her nose. When in reality she's no better than the guy sleeping on the park bench. The mother and daughter duo who are just as bad if not worse both of them enabling each others behaviour. They come across as being purely overboard just for the cameras. Though I do feel slightly sorry for the daughter who hasn't had the best role model growing up. The mothers shaking and crying because the hairdresser put an apron round her neck to protect her clothing was laughable because if she really was that had she would never. Have done it. And who has been shaving her head all this time. .It makes her look like a man in drag The guys are not much better. They all come across as control freaks. And before I go any further I am not homophobic in any way but considering how they run screaming from the room if the word germ is even hinted at. Doesn't there choice of sexual preference entail doing something that is less than hygienic. . Yes I'm sorry but it's true. The people that this programme is man oh about get berated by the compulsive cleaners for the way they have fallen behind on their daily lives is hard to stomach. Throwing stupid looks at the cameras behind their backs. Do they not realise that they are just as crazy for their way of looking at life. As the very people they are pretending to want to help.. Storming off because they can't get their own way when dealing with people's lives truth be known they are the odd ones for being so scared of a germ. They haven't learnt that not all germs are bad I d's we need some of them to live and that killing every thing in their paths is just as bad for your health.we need these terms to help build our immune systems. Sadly I feel that the compulsive cleaners are only on the program because they think they are better than the rest of us.. If they really wanted to help they need to start treating some of the people with a bit more respect. And remember that not only are they still human beings they are not objects to be made fun of As my grandmother use to say back at kettle calling own grimmy ass. There's just one thing is like to know and that's do the compulsive c cleaners really believe that there others talk about them behind their backs. I'd love to see that see if they find it so funny.

If he is 78, and have only one heir (23 years old), and divorced 20 years ago. I don't think he have much more family. He may not have siblings either. And it is not uncommon for hoarders to become isolated from their family. But I do agree he should hire someone to help with the upkeep. There is a reason mansions had housekeepers and maids in the past - keeping up such a large estate need much more than an elderly man. (even the fittest obsessive cleaner would need help here) But yes, they did do a great job on restoring the rooms.

Back in the day the people who owned these houses could afford house keepers and groundsman to keep the place tidy.further down the line the people who have inherreted the houses don't have the money to have staff, they ain't rich like the original owners. Great video. An obstacle for the man living alone AND for the OCD cleaners. Everyone appeared to manage to overcome their fears and anxieties. Always surprises me to see huge properties like these in such a state of chaos. The house was so big that no sooner had you worked yourself from top to bottom cleaning it would be time to clean once again. Given that the man lived alone it was probably inevitable that he wouldn't have been able to stay on top of things and subsequently he would gradually fall behind. Just hope he manages to maintain a degree of order and self-discipline. The OCD cleaners did cause me to laugh with their look of horror at every turn in the house. Surprised to actually see the cleaners eating something in which he had prepared. Again, everyone appeared to manage to overcome their fears and anxieties during this episode.

I checked his Instagram and he seems to be focusing on his career in industrial design. He seems to be working in the UK but is likely either in Edinburgh or London for his work. This episode aired in 2017 so John is probably still kicking around the Guynd and Elliott will make the decision of what to do with it after his dad passes, but in my opinion he’s probably going to sell the property. Scotland is very hot for tourism right now and he’d make a decent profit off of it. That’s just my opinion though.

The joyous dancing at the end was great. Now John can dance in his home. Maybe just replacing things like the toilet brush at the time would help as John was left without two when they were snuck into the skip. If owners were offered a brand new replacement on the spot, they might be more willing to part with something they feel they need. Those little toy things his son collected were so sentimental and it was nice they were cleaned and not thrown out. The cleaners worked so hard and so did John. The house looks great.

I'd never tell Hayley this, but that's not how you use a steamer. You need to have it almost point-blank, otherwise you're just dousing something in warm, sterile water vapour. Which then condenses on contact and can actually cause bacteria to grow. If she's adding disinfectant, that's fine, but then just use a bucket of warm soapy water as it'll be more effective and a lot cheaper.

I would just throw all that $hit away without even asking him. He either wants my help and I am helping or I am packing my shit and leaving right the very next second.

The owners shouldn’t be allowed in the house while the cleaning goes on, I’d lose my patience with him constantly trying to justify keeping pieces of junk!

They definitely have a team in the background helping because after that slow a start there is no way she could clean her room for 6 hours and have time to clean kinder toys with a cotton bud 😂😂😂

The irony is - the son is incredibly well spoken so probably has been educated privately probably in boarding school. He is studying in USA so overseas fees - there is not a lack of money for what they think is important - eg expensive private education but there is no money and effort put into cleaning and maintenance because these sorts of people don’t do things themselves - be it looking after their children or cleaning - they employ others to do the hard work in their lives they don’t do the spade work of life themselves
