So just to stop misinformation spread when you say fast adaptation bonus resets upon hitting a shield that is not true. If you hit a shield it doesn't reset your stack.

Its really fun to see another player being as a 6year old at X-mas when it comes to new stuff in Battle Brothers. I love the game, maybe too much, I want it to be upgraded with ALOT more DLC's, bring me more of everything - more new slots for "magic rings" and such , I am just obsessed with building teams and upgrading characters. This game is very good for that, but it can become so much more, if the developers want it to (they might not be on the same level as myself when it comes to trinkets and such...).

I've owned this game since it launched, but despite trying multiple times I just couldn't get into it. I like to have quickhands and Bags and belts for bannermen just to provide extra support, they can throw a net or rotate and swap into a shield ( not sure if it can be done on the same turn anymore). Also If they get lucky and get a ton of Fatigue, I give them Battle Forged so they can rotate a brother and take some hits. Also with the new DLC there seems to be more use to potions and throwables so Bags n belts on bannermen seems like its gonna get even better.

I think there should be a really rare background of master archer that you can find similar to swordmaster. Maybe at a city with barracks and the archery tournament event is on theres a rare chance you can hire one.

I take pathfinder on the ranged ones always. Getting to highground or passing bad terrain fast for picking the high values before lines clash is very convenient

Bowyers can roll 52ratk, 3 higher than a poachers highest ratk. They have a much larger range of values compared to hunters 47-49, but their top end recruits outclass poacher top end recruits. Also, they might eventually make you a masterwork bow :)

From what I've read, you can only get ONE masterwork bow event. No matter how many bowyer backgrounds you recruit. And if it turns out wonky, you are SOL.

Poachers are a great alternative to hunters. I was able to nab a poacher that has a three star in ranged attack, iron jaw and had a couple more starts I think in stamina.

I reeaally struggle with deciding on a couple of archer skills. I found it is absolutely invaluable to give them throwing mastery+quick hands, as the barbarian throwing weapons do a ton of damage to/through armour, where as taking a bow into a reaver/chosen fight, along with many others, is just about pointless. This makes them murderers against heavy armour, but I have to either give up anticipation (death sentence right there), recover, or berserk - all incredible skills for an archer. I guess this is the beauty of the game, there aren't many obvious cookie cutter builds that deal with everything.

What about dropping Student for Shieldbearer on your magic sword dude? If you're not too stressed to level them up fast, or if you have the cash to buy them training every so often.

Student always replaces itself in terms of perk points, so you can't really "drop student" from a build. The downside of student is the timing on when you get the perks, not the total number of perks.

Your videos and the attention to detail in all of your explanations are fantastic. I have been struggling against, and completely avoiding as a result, unholds because of a lack of archers on my team (only 1 usable right now) and have had no idea how to deal with them besides giving everyone pikes and sending one unfortunate brother to tank (die). I cannot wait to try indomitable against them. I'll be starting a new campaign ASAP to try this. Have you got any suggestions on dealing with hexen? Assuming indomitable doesn't work against them too

Overwhelm has better utility on archers. Saved many from a charging orc or unhold in melee as it'll be another 5-7% on their defence rolls. Have dropped the second quiver in favour of sling staff. Most enemies are near dead after 5-7 turns of combat, save ammo and cash by tossing a rock at them. Sling staffs do 33% of their damage on unshielded schrats and benefit from throwing mastery damage. 6 archers can reliably kill one every 3 to 4 volleys. That's 2 turns with good positioning and zero risk. Will save that shield tank locking down a schrat serious injury with a huge stack of owerwhelm.

I always thought Gifted as a desperation perk, if you have to take that your brother is probably not good enough for what you intended him to be. For example your mid-late 2H Matk skill is the most important so why not backstabber? Gifted gonna get you 3-4 (88-89) Matk vs backstabbers 8.5(93.5) Matk if we assume hes Matk skill is 85 like you stated as target.

Backstabber doesnt count yourself, and you already get a base +5 for being near allies. So in most realistic situations, your frontiline is next to one of your fellow brothers and backstabber is then worth +5 only. Whereas gifted is +3mdef,+3matk and +4res or stam.

I like quick hands archers. 2 extra shots is nice and I find archers really dont need that many perks. I dont take overwhelm or nimble and take quick hands and steelbrow instead.

Split-man always hit head and body So headhunter is wasted on 2h axe

@@ibrahimsyarief8162 from what I read it rolls to hit the head first, if it does it does crit damage (150%) If not it does normal damage then it automatically hits the other body part only ever doing half damage.

You can use it on 2h swords. Only valid there if you need extra 10def with secondary attack. Otherwise yea, gifted is superior.

So I just started playing this game and picked up all dlc’s. This seems like some crazy advanced steps to take for character creation. So for any joe blow who is playing and building mercs they think is good enough long term are we going to stand a chance late game with just your average merc set up? Or is the game set up in a way so we are forced to come up with these ornate crazy ass built merc specs.

What fights do ranged defense on the front line matter? Goblins and Brigands. I don't rely on 2hs to win those fights, I rely on archers. Both of those fights will have Filthy Fights videos coming for them soon. Basically, bring kite shields on your 2h brothers and let your archers do the work there.

The stack applies to goblin 2. That's really important in raider fights, where you often deliberately sink two body shots into one raider so that next round you have a near forced head shot on a different raider with no helmet!

@@FilthyRobot btw, I've been meaning to build a flail specialist that is not useless in the late game, because I love flails. My idea was to arm a brother with Three-headed flail, and use duelist and headhunter. This brother won't rely on lash. He will just use normal attack and get headshots through the flail's bonus hit chance and headhunter. The big question is, Doea Headhunter proc with every hit from the three-headed flail? I haven't tried this, and I currently don't have my saved games. So do you have any idea?

I have put in some time in this game so far and honestly I am using a FUCK TON of save and load when i go into a settlement in order to buy all the battle brothers see their stats and load after that. I have easily went through 2k + battle brothers so far and the BEST i have seen is 2 times 2 stars on attack and 2 stars on melle def. Getting battle brothers with those stats is EXTREMELY RARE! If you ask me the game is punishing enough the least the devs could have done is not make that stat combo so hard to get :|

The archer builds use overwhelm, although I'm on the border of whether or not I'll continue that. Fast adaptation has been pretty shit for me, could be a finisher or near finisher on Fodder. It ought to be an archer perk, but the way it interacts with scatter breaks it. I haven't had dodge be good for me. Also not using: Fearsome, Reach Advantage, Dagger Spec, Mace Spec, Flail Spec, Throwing Spec, Relentless, Executioner, Resilient, Crippling Strikes, 9 Lives, or Bags and Belts.

It's still very possible and very good. It just needs to be on a matk/ratk hybrid, not a pure matk hybrid.
