Fimi mini version 2 review - and this one is so much better

This drone was the fastest i have ever recieved from aliexpress at just around 2 weeks to ship it.I must say there is a big improvement in this drone over their previous mini drone as the camera is so much better and a few little new things added.

Although the V2 looks the same as the old one, but the processing chip(ISP and tracking performance related), camera sensor, gps chip, battery are different, indeed for software, it's a new drone.

Good review you will always get gimbal drop in sports mode thats why i rarely use it but rem if you if you set basic speed to max you are as fast as the dji mini 2/3 so in sports mode on fimi you at max basic speed going 40mph my battery drop was due to high winds i believe and at distance like the mavic mini did had to much battery pull in high winds at 25mph i did have gale warnings😊

still it shouldn't have dropped 40% ,thats a huge power loss ,i would be contacting fimi and letting them know it happened and see if they send you a new battery.

look on aliexpress or amazon,they have much better cables,hubsan and fimi are terrible for sending junk cables with their drones

Thank you for this product review. - It seems to me that the "Xiaomi Tech" company is better than the reputation it created itself. - After all, it is the third largest manufacturer of smartphones in the world - that's no coincidence... With the camera drones they produce, I have the impression that they always come to the market too early instead of selling a really technically-mature model. - And I also think the policy of the "Xiaomi Tech" company to bring new products with additional features onto the market at short intervals is misguided. It would be better to bring a mature model with all the appropriate features - but then at a reasonably higher price - onto the market. Anyway: Xiaomi can do it - your new mini drone proves it. Now Xiaomi just has to prove that they no longer produce "Blue Monday" misproductions..

i think they need to get a hold of their quality control as so much stuff comes out of there broken and is returned,my last fimi mini i had to return it 2 or 3 times before i finally got a good one sent to me,im just glad i got a good one this time first round and didn't have to spend more money in shipping fees.

@@capeRCouple I must be lucky...two Xiaomi e-Scooters...fantastic value and lasting, too. A FIMI X8SE 2020...never had issues since day 1. A Xiaomi hand held 4K camera/gimbal...fantastic over the last 4 years. The company also provides firmware updates along the way. I'll take my chances with the V2, at half the kit price to the DJI Mini V2.

it is a lottery purchasing from fimi but when you do get a good working drone it is worth it.I know quite a few people tho that got dud drones from fimi including myself as i have had 2 fimi minis in the past and sent them back as they were both defective@@jb678901

Same type of cables that came with the first mini and they are garbage,I don’t use them and purchased a good OTG cable from aliexpress or Amazon…can’t remember which one as I purchased cables from both sites in the past

if you mean the charge cable it is just a standard type c cable as i have used regular type c cables to charge my battery already

@@capeRCouple I had read on other reviews/postings that the RC to phone USB cable had some non-standard termination resistors. But if you're working OK with quality standard OTG-compatible cables that is great news. It was one of the negatives keeping me from getting a mini. I started with a 2018 X8SE then updated to the X8SE 2022 only to see FiMi launch the X8SE 2022 V2 a week after my V1 arrived. I also invested in the TX10 hoping the Mini V2 would be compatible with it. Really miffed it's not. Seriously thinking my sub 250g drone will be a Walkera T210 Mini now.

Do your figure 8 on the ground not like yu did the gimbal won't go nuts lay it down normally then upside down and each side until pointing up or down whichever you choose but certainly not the way you did.. Works on all fimi drones.

i do it the way fimi showed me,i have tried multiple times the regular way and none of my fimi drones will take the calibration unless i do it this way

​​@@capeRCoupleit can't be different for all.. They do show a program for the 6 or 8 axis calibration but you don't need it.. Honestly just place it flat down for 2 secs then upside down then cover all the other sides until facing up.. Works for all of my same drones as yours... It can't different for the same drones you won't get that shake of your gimbal.. Just try it it can't just work for all my fimi drones and not yours! The gimbal never shakes if yu do this 2 second at a time

Creating that violent gimbal shake is not the way to go the tiny motors will burn up quickly and please iam NOTtrying to be a smarty pants just my advice

The toilet bowl maneuvers are caused when one of the quadcopter's arms moves slightly, often only a millimeter or less, throwing off the accelerometer and moving the craft. Use superglue to fix the arms open and immovable.

no the v2 doesn't have hdr but i disagree with you,the colors are much better on the v2,i have both and the picture and colors are horrible on my v1.i have already emailed fimi and asked if they can add hdr to the v2 drone so hopefully they listen

i would definately say v2 is better but fimi has very bad quality control issues with all of their drones so its a 50% chance you are going to get one with no issues at all.when i purchased the v1 i had to send it back to fimi twice because they kept sending me drones with different issues and it took until the 3rd try before i finally got a decent one that worked correctly and even still the last v1 i got from them had bad horizon tilt issues and a pretty weak gimbal

Fimi has never been able to correct the crooked horizon, really unwatchable. The updates never really fixed the problem.

i know its not much of a difference in camera specs but just compare both models with the video,my version 1 looks horrible with too much blue,purple and yellow and this one looks nice and clear and natural colors.im not sticking up for fimi as i agree they should have invested much more in a better camera for this drone but atleast this camera does look good and is an improvement over the version 1 i have here

Terrible horizontal tilt. I scanned through the review, so i don't know if it was mentioned. Stick with DJI.

Fimi along with most other companies have trouble getting the horizon tilt corrected but some budget drones don't have this issue which makes me think why can't these bigger companies get this rite. Fimi does usually somewhat fix this with future firmware updates and it can be calibrated in the options menu.i have had many drones from competitors and they are all like this but with a lower price range come some issues.Fimi make these for those who can not afford a dji drone but they are getting more expensive so yes i also believe go with a dji,however autel is a good competitor for dji but their cost is pretty high.

There seems to be a gimbal adjustment (offset) recommended for the X8SE in the RCGroup forum. Maybe there will arrive some similar recommended settings for the Mini V2?

Yes i have tried that on my x8se 2022,it works for a while but the horizon always goes off again.I don't know why big companies have issues with crooked horizons when most budget drone companies don't seem to have this problem with their drones@@jb678901
