Its hard to advise you which is the best way to go with your order. I'm seeing mixed results. I have seen some forum posts over the last few days, saying that the quad has finally been shipped, and others saying, they are still waiting. I bought mine from Banggood China. (It was one of the first they sent out.) I didn't order from the local Banggood Australia, as I knew there would be a long waiting time. I have already replied to you on one of my other videos. However, in case you missed it, I have answered below. For the Price, you get a very good quad. Its not without its faults though. Also In this price range, you have the Mavic Mini. (I own the mini also) The mini can't handle the wind like the heavier Fimi X8, but it does produce some very nice video footage, and has a few extra camera settings.

@@GarryPurcell I commented on a bunch of fimi reviews. I did not realize two were the same person. One of my worries is that i cant buy the drone in America. I'm worried it might be poor quality and because it's not from America customer support would be very difficult to deal with. Comparing specs the fimi sounds better than the mavic mini but I just don't know if I trust the brand. Would you recommend the mavic mini or the fimi?

I own a Mavic Mini myself. Its a good quad, but is lacking when it comes to its ability to handle the wind. The Fimi X8 is quite an amazing drone for its price, and can handle strong winds easily.

Great video! Seems like crooked horizon & jello effects are here to stay. Seems to me Fimi just swapped out for cheaper components where they can. Obviously known problems are not fixed. Hopefully they enhanced the arms for sports mode flight but I highly doubted

The Horizon drift has me a bit perplexed, as I did do a horizontal gimbal calibration, before I went for its first flight. It was rather a cold morning, around 4 degrees, and frost on the ground, so maybe the gimbal gain is set too high at 100 percent stock. Or it could be the propellers are not balanced properly. I'm going to make another video to see if I can sort out some of the initial problems. The arms are indeed made from a different material.

Keep flying and make videos, i have faith in this 2020 version, the software is still limited and little polished but i think it will surprise us. For the next video, put the bit rate at the maximum which i think will make a lot of difference

The Bitrate was deliberately set low, due to the speed of the SD Card I used. I now have a Very Fast Card, it's just arrived.🙂 SanDisk Extreme Pro MicroSDXC UHS-II card 275 Read 100 Write So it should be up to scratch when recording at the maximum bitrate.

Can confirm that after getting the email from banggood es (Spain) saying that the order was delayed due to spring holiday (February after ordering In April). The order said a 2 week delay on may 15th. Of course this 2 week delay didn't really exist and they was just delaying my order. I got in touch with banggood today and they have moved the Spain orders to a minimum of July 10th shipping so I have cancelled and will order again once things are a bit clearer.

Hey Garry, great video. I flew mine for the first time today and the video seems to have some artifact if going on or a stutter effect. Like the camera is adjusting to the light. Is there a setting that would ease that or is it due to it being cloudy?

Yes, it was shot in 4k 25fps with Low Bitrate My SD Card could not handle a faster speed. I know have a much faster card. SanDisk Extreme Pro MicroSDXC UHS-II card 275 Read 100 Write

Its a good quad for the price The 2k footage is not bad I had it out in wind.gust from 0 to 20kph at ground level. I flew it quite low to test the video footage, and it held its ground admirably, and produced some really nice footage. I should have another video up up next week, showing smooth cinematic footage.

Last thing I want is it dropping out of the sky for no reason. Nothing Wrong with DJI products, I own two of them. But my GoTo at the moment.... is the Fimi X8. I tend to not worry as much, its quite powerful and handles breezes nicely. P.S. Each time I play with my Mavic Mini, I'm worried it might not come back, due to a bit of wind popping up unexpectedly.🙂 So I'm very picky as to wind conditions using it.

The camera settings were straight out of the box. (apart from the gimbal calibration) The temperature was low 4 degrees Celsius, so not ideal for flying drones. I will try to get more footage at a later date, but with the Covid-19 lock-down, its not so easy to travel far from where you live. (Big fines imposed if your caught without a valid reason.) That park I used in the video, is very popular later in the day, so it basically becomes a no-fly zone.

Totaly jelly effect Problem. Had the same level of problem in my first flights, with 2018. after 5-6 flights, the gimbal was acting like it was headbanging. The footage was useless. I sent it back to FImi and i got a replacement drone.Its a matter of luck to get a good set of fimi product(a drone with no problem in gimbal or camera or blocked motor after some hours of flights). I m afraid that our gimbal is one of the problematics (hope not, maybe its getting jelly caus of the low temps (thats its not good for a gimbal, but its happening almost always in fimi x8 gimbal)). I enjoy my fimi X8 2018, but i m afraid that i wouldnt buy a fimi product again. Good luck with your X8

Thanks for sharing your first impressions. 👍👍 Try to lower the gimbal gain to get rid of jello at low temperatures. Had this problem with my frist white Fimi X8. My novel Black one is ace in every respect, not showing any problems at all in this respect. Still waiting for my 2020 version, though.

Thank You. You've read my mind. List of things to do. Dropping the gimbal gain down to 50 percent or lower. Balance the propellers. Use Flight mode on my phone, in case its sending superfluous signals to the quad. I'll be making another video showing the results, good or bad.

@@GarryPurcell Yeah, it is kind of normal that we have to try many things, before we get a satisfying output, especially in case of a lower budget drone. Many people are just too impatient. And of course some flaws may remain, but in the end you get a solid video quality for "only" about 300 Euro. That's why I ordered the 2020 version as a spare drone in case something happens to my beloved Black Fimi.

Don't forget the Mavic Mini is also in this price range. I took the quad out in some windy weather (0-20kph gusts at ground level), it performed quite well. P.S. 2k 50fps Footage in F-Log colour graded is not too bad. I'm still testing the Fimi, so I hope to have some more videos uploaded. (My Computer is playing up, and I have a replacement one on order, it should be available next week, and I will be able to compile some footage.) P.S. I also own Mavic Mini.

Nice video thanks 👍🏼 Just received mine and first flight I started the drone by pulling both sticks down, I updated the firmware and the app today and that option is gone somehow, and had to use auto take off ,anyone else had this? Ps my return to home is 10 feet off 😕

The sticks, must be in the provided indent slots, to work for takeoff I'd suggest you re-install the firmware, and do a full calibration.

@@GarryPurcell in my experience jello effect is a hardware problem , not affected by any weather condition..

@@rhymond5795 Jello is often caused by badly balanced propellers. (I have 8 quads, and I use a Du-Bro balancer for the propellers) There is a gimbal setting on the fimi X8, which will reduce the sensitivity, I will also be turning on flight mode. (I forgot in the rush to get the quad flying, before too many people came to the park). I'll post a video showing the results, either good or bad.

I don't own a 2018 version, so I can't comment. This video was shot with default settings, apart from the gimbal calibration. My next video will be using 4K with maximum bitrate using a fast SD Card, and I'm going to look into removing the jello effect while I'm at it.

Man what a disappointment. Seems all the problems of the 2018/19 are still present in this supposedly 'new model'. Considering you went to the trouble of adjusting and calibrating the gimbal, that horizon in the footage was way off, just like it always has been. As other commenters have stated. The jello and glitching is exactly the same. The only visible improvement from the 2018 model in this video is the precision landing. I certainly won't be buying this drone. FIMI appear to have made virtually no changes. They would have done better to simply sort out the software in the 2018 model and issue a proper firmware update, an update that actually works for a change. What they have done is repackaged the old crap as a 'new drone' and suckered a whole load of people into buying it.
