Fantastic informative review. I am trying to watch as many quad videos from people in the UK as I am in West Yorkshire UK. I am a newbie pilot and bought a Hubsan H501s last year with standard controller. Due to weather within that time I probably flew it about 20 or 30 times. Unfortunately on final flight and everything full charged, it just dropped from about 30 meters like a stone with complete power failure and smashed. I was gutted as was loving my new found hobby other than lock picking, which is what my channel is... with a couple of quad videos. Anyway, I am on a very tight budget but want to buy another, cannot afford X8 quad. I loved my 501s due to screen built into transmitter and ease of use with no apps, so I am thinking of buying the H501s advanced as controller looks a lot better to hold and software may be a bit better. Have you ever flown one and if so, what do you think? I have been told that transmitter eats through batteries, but was corrected by another KZbinr than in the recent models they come with lipo battery and told out of one full charge he was getting about 15 or 20 full flights with quad flying 20mins again hope this is correct as will get one. That's weird. Apparently you had a HS of 0.2m/s whilst sitting still and testing app with the motors locked. (I changed the comment during the flight as the HS/VS are reversed) I like this. It has a few minor issues to be corrected still, but for what you pay it's pretty good. _I still prefer the A3 for my type of usage though. Maybe I have issues still_ :D

even though they are reversed it still should be 0. Thats most likely because inside the gps position moves. it gets that info from GPS so none of those figures can be trusted indoors. Cheers

I believe the Fimi batteries discharge after 12hrs automatically to storage levels as the mi4k battery did. Mavic battery is 10 days which isn't ideal for longevity

Impressive, particularly when the gremlins are sorted, However, I love my MAV and I will not be swopping her out any time soon, one question do they offer the “insurance” option as DJI does, my MAV Pro which is quite old in Drone years suffered a camera failure recently, not the drones fault I add, when I took her for repair, she was out of warranty coverage, they gave me a brand new one within two hours at the price of the repair, now that’s impressive and frankly unbeatable service from DJI, keep up the good work, let’s us know what the warranty options are.

yeah but when DJI first started they were known for having terrible customer service... people forget that and its only people buying into them that made that better. so if you have the money go dji sure, however the mavic controller drives me mad. the gimbal gets knocked too easily. and if you have a small phone, you cant see that then entire flight was done out of focus because it was sunny and you couldnt see it on the screen.... those are my thoughts. as for the warrenty with fimi I have no customer dealings with them they are solely based in china but as a reviewer they are replacing my broken a3 free of charge, and they are selling through banggood which has a good customer service track record so id imagine you would have something. But its not going to be as good as DJI at the same time its half the price with updated features so thats the choice people have to make and if you already have a mavic why would you ponder buying this anyways? From my experience i tend to use these cheaper models because I can take more risks. Its less of a loss... Try using the free dji warranty when they saw a crash was your fault, you can take out insurance on anything as well its worth mentioning, doesn't have to come from the manufacturer. Fimi also doesnt upload logs of every flight you do to their servers and keeps it stored.... just a thought

Its simple a fully charged battery left will kill its life. The cells loose there ability to hold a full charge so it would reduce its life. Same if left too flat. So a, battery that can discharge to a level that prolongs it for long storage periods. (over a, week say) means the cells remain healthy. Ever had an old phone or something uve not used in months or years tried to use it. Totally flat and when you plug charger in nothing. For ages then it takes a charge you use it and can see the level drop instantly or isnt even at 100%. Well a, smart battery can avoid this. To a point. Cant leave it for years. Any battery will die. But helps keep it healthy. Much like using them at right temperature and not charging them hot or too cold. Sorry long but its clever stuff

I flew my fimi X8Se today and hovered over our usual spot 200ft above ready to film some power loops of trees and general flying of our freestyle quads and the fpv feed had terrible break up where we usually have clear fpv feed. I put it down to the fimi. I landed and turned off the fimi flew the quads again and we had the usual clear fpv feed with minimal breakup. Any suggestions on how to stop this interference when filming with the fimi? Thanks.

as far as im aware the fimi uses the 5.8 frequency all be it digital and its powerful too so it will totally swamp the signal. The last time I checked it cant be changed to 2.4? but its worth looking into that as iv not looked at the updates for a while but if you cant change it, there is nothing you can do. Its only the dji models which allow you to switch to 2.4 or 5.8 however even this causes problems with miniquads as the 2.4 is so strong it can swamp the band and cause the models to failsafe. We found if you stand far enough apart you can film acro quads with a DJI model.
